Findings from project tracking and field reporting indicate that Kaduna’s 23 LGA chairmen have executed projects worth far more than ₦25 million since assuming office over 14 months ago. News Central TV’s investigative program “Scorecard” used Zangon Kataf LGA as a case study and documented extensive capital investment across sectors. The council cleared ₦150 million in inherited debt and restored electricity to several communities including D-One, Sharp Corner, Zuturung, and Pama after prolonged blackouts. Transformers were rehabilitated in Tak Jei, solar lights installed at the council secretariat, and more than eight motorized boreholes sunk within a year.
In education, primary schools in Kagal, Ikulu, Zagom, Madakiya, and Kurmin Masara were rebuilt and restructured. The state government also awarded contracts for the 29km Madauchi–Kafanchan Road. A world-class skills acquisition center was built in Zangon Kataf, and land was allocated for a Second National Mission Force military camp to strengthen security. Health facilities in Samaru Kataf, Zango Urban, Madakiya, Ungwan Rimi, Kamantan, and Zonkwa were renovated or upgraded to Level 2 status, with new staff quarters constructed. During the last farming season, no farmer in the LGA received fewer than four bags of fertilizer, with surplus stocks still in reserve.
Abdullahi Natty, Chairman of Zango Urban Market, rated the LGA chairman’s performance at “99 out of 100” across all sectors. Looking ahead, Kaduna State Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Mallam Sadiq Mamman-Lagos, stated that Governor Uba Sani has budgeted ₦100 million for each of the state’s 255 council wards in 2026.
Context
The SaharaReporters story relied on a single anonymous source and did not independently verify expenditure records or project data. The “Scorecard” investigation provides on-the-ground evidence of capital projects and service delivery that is inconsistent with the ₦25 million claim.
Conclusion
The assertion that Kaduna LGAs receive only ₦25 million monthly and cannot fund development is not supported by available evidence. Project execution and budget data from Zangon Kataf LGA show significantly higher spending and ongoing investment in infrastructure and services.
