Subsidy Babel: One Week, Three Different Policies From One Camp
Atiku Abubakar says he will restore petrol subsidy if elected president in 2027.
Chibuike Amaechi says Atiku is not planning to revive the old import-based subsidy regime, but will subsidise only local production.

Phrank Shaibu, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication to Atiku, later clarified that Ibe’s characterisation was unauthorised and misleading, and that Atiku’s proposal is not a return to the old regime but a targeted, capped, and audited production subsidy for domestic refineries.
What a bunch of confused people saying a variety of different things within the space of one week on an issue that is at the core of Nigerian national interest.
How can we take such people seriously? Running under a political party that is akin to a rickety vehicle portends how confused they are and why they have lost our trust. They are just a bunch of megalomaniacs looking for an avenue to grab power.
