Your Excellency, Distinguished Leaders, and Fellow Nigerians,
I write to you today not as a partisan, but as a concerned Nigerian, a Public Affairs Analyst and Security Strategist based in Ogun State, who believes that democracy must be nurtured and protected by all of us, irrespective of party affiliation.
With a deep sense of patriotism, I wish to sincerely commend you, the Independent National Electoral Commission, the Security Agencies, and all Nigerians who ensured that the will of the people prevailed in the Osun State Governorship Election.
Going by the over 95% of results already uploaded by INEC, it is clear that the people of Osun have spoken. The imminent victory of the Incumbent Governor and Accord Party Governorship Candidate, Senator Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke, is a victory for democracy, for the ballot, and for the Nigerian people.
This peaceful outcome must be boldly attributed to your good intentions for Nigeria, Mr. President.
By choosing not to interfere, by allowing federal institutions to remain independent, and by letting the people decide without intimidation, you have reinforced public trust in our democracy. For that, history will remember you well.
I also commend:
1. The INEC Leadership and Staff – For transparency, for IReV, and for resisting pressure.
2. Heads and Personnel of All Federal Security Agencies – For professionalism and neutrality before, during, and after the election.
3. Civil Society, Media, and Patriotic Nigerians – Who stood as watchdogs to ensure that democracy was preserved.
Osun has shown us the template: when government is neutral and institutions work, the people’s voice will be heard.
MY CANDID ADVICE TO APC GOVERNORS AND PARTY LEADERS AHEAD OF 2027
Distinguished Leaders, permit me to speak to you plainly as a Nigerian stakeholder who wants to see this country succeed.
The Osun result carries a very loud message: Come 2027, it will not be federal power that will decide. It will be Nigerians that will decide.
Therefore, I urge you as follows:
1. PUT THE WELFARE OF THE PEOPLE FIRST, NOT YOUR POCKETS
Governance is not a business venture. It is service.
Resources meant for rural roads, primary healthcare, school rehabilitation, and MSME support must get to the grassroots. When leaders prioritize the people, the people will prioritize them at the polls. When they don’t, no amount of money or influence can buy trust back.
2. COMPLEMENT THE GOOD WORKS OF PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU
Mr. President is taking bold and tough decisions at the center to reposition Nigeria under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
But those reforms must be felt in our villages and markets. That is your responsibility as Governors and leaders.
Translate federal policy into light for artisans, into jobs for youths, into drugs in our PHCs, into good roads for farmers. That is how you complement Mr. President and secure the future of the party.
3. IMPACT THE GRASSROOTS WITH MEANINGFUL PROJECTS
The people are tired of big rallies and bigger promises. They want to see results.
One LGA with stable power for industry. One ward with a working health center. One constituency with 500 youths trained and equipped.
Campaign for 2027 has started now, and campaign is governance. If you serve the people sincerely today, the people will stand with you tomorrow.
Distinguished leaders, President Tinubu has shown good intentions for Nigeria. The ball is now in your court to match it with good actions in your states.
Once again, Mr. President, thank you for choosing democracy over desperation.
Thank you INEC. Thank you Security Agencies. Thank you Nigerians.
May God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
May God bless Osun State.
May God bless President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
