Seeing Progress Through Clearer Lenses

Most times, some people in this country play very antagonistic and negative opposition to the extent that they would never acknowledge the good things the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has achieved in just two years and eleven months since he took office—even though he inherited a nation that was almost bankrupt, with only $3 billion in foreign reserves.

Some of these critics are so petty that they ask, “What has the APC done?” The APC may not have solved all the monumental problems confronting this country—problems that successive governments woefully failed to tackle—but it has certainly made progress.

One of the notable achievements is the construction of a super highway from Lagos to Calabar. As a son of Cross River State, I am a direct beneficiary of this magnificent project, which will connect Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River along Nigeria’s 8,000+ kilometre coastline. Another super highway is also being built from Lagos to Sokoto, linking the South West and North West corridors of the country.

The APC government has also introduced the Student Loan Scheme, which is helping indigent students from poor families access tertiary education. What could be greater than educational empowerment? While the government may not have solved all the nation’s problems in three years—or even in eleven—it is clearly a work in progress.

Another project President Tinubu has committed to is the Ndibe Bridge across the Cross River, connecting Afikpo in Ebonyi State with Ebom (Abi Local Government) and Biase Local Government Areas of Cross River State.

Those who refuse to acknowledge these achievements out of bad politics should borrow the “eye glasses” of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and use them, so they can see clearly the progress being made.

Conclusion:
Nigeria’s challenges are vast, but progress is undeniable. The administration has laid foundations in infrastructure and education that will benefit generations to come. Constructive criticism is welcome, but blind opposition only clouds the vision of national growth.
