𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗗𝗨𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡
The Nigeria Football Federation is charged with the responsibility of developing and managing football in Nigeria. However, over the last few years, and during the last WAFCON 2026 in Morocco, the Super Falcons performed below expectations. Following this performance, an investigative committee to look at these perceived failures was set up, even though Nigerian football generally has experienced administrative issues and poor results, including loss of stakeholder confidence.
The Committee is made up of the following Members:

The committee was also saddled with the responsibility of investigating these presumed crises, with the following terms of reference:
𝟏. To unravel the root causes of Nigeria’s dismal showing in international football competitions of recent
𝟐. With specific reference to the Super Falcons’ ouster in Morocco 2026.
The Committee examined governance, finance, technical development, grassroots football, and league management.
This report summarizes our findings, analyzes the causes of failure to retain the WAFCON and non qualification to the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, 2027, and recommends practical steps for reform.
Our goal is to provide a clear roadmap for rebuilding a football system that works for Players, Clubs, and the Nation.
𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆:
𝟏. Challenges with Players Release and Communication:
𝟐. Team Dynamics and Players Influence
(a). No player’s influence was alleged
(b). Role of the analyst and Hirechy with the Technical Team.
𝟑. Player Injuries and Medical Issues
The committee enquired about one sample case of Ashleigh Plumptre and found out that she had surgery and was not fit to play. It was also corroborated by team doctors, both in Nigeria and her foreign club
𝟒. Player Availability and Camp Preparation
Players were all cooperating with each other, there was no influence of individual players on team selection.
𝟓. Camp Rules and Encouragement
The committee didn’t agree with the whole process of how some officials infiltrated the camp at will.
𝟔. Players Loyalty and Performance
This aspect was to be streamlined through the technical department and henceforth structured and handled by the various heads accordingly.
𝟕. Discussion on Team Management and Players Development.
There should be a deliberate template on this by the federation.
𝟖. Challenges in Women’s Football and Government Support.
There should be another deliberate plan for both male and female which should include training and retraining of administrative technical staff and the Secretariat
𝟗. Player Development and Age Verification
Proper data technology and information verification from the NFF should be in place to avoid discrepancies
𝟏𝟎. Technical and Regulatory Challenges in Football
Better and stricter Regulations and oversight functions, including player and training
𝟏𝟏. Introduction of New Initiatives and Technology
Introduce new initiatives in technology so as to attract better funding
𝟏𝟐. Challenges in the Women’s Football League
The female league should be encouraged to leverage on the male league
𝟏𝟑. Government and Corporate Support of Football
This should be highly restructured to reflect modern challenges
𝟏𝟒. Future Plans and Regulatory Changes
The NFF should be encouraged to promote necessary outlets and avenues for a more and better outlook in implementing regulations in all sectors of our football
𝟏𝟓. Nigeria National League Overview and Structure
The league needs a better structure to align with better funding
𝟏𝟔. Challenges and Improvement in the NNL
Improve the training and regulation of coaching education and certification.
𝟏𝟕. Super Six tournament and player development
This is crucial for National team development and scouting
𝟏𝟖. Preparation and Technical Aspect for National Teams
Early and well-coordinated preparations for the National teams and selection process aimed at identifying talents
𝟏𝟗. Challenges in Organising and Managing the Leagues
NPFL, NNL, NLO, NWFL should be better structured in line with
𝟐𝟎. Impact of Social Media and External Influence.
All the negative impacts should be discouraged.
𝟐𝟏. Technical and Tactical Influence in Recent Tournament
Early and adequate preparation will help Coaches prepare for the tournament. Remuneration and rewards should be a standard
𝟐𝟐. Player injuries and performance management
Player selection should be based on current physical fitness and standard performance indices.
𝟐𝟑. Discussion on Team Performance and Fairness
There is a need to highlight these areas by the employment of experts in the field.
𝟐𝟒. Preparation and Technical Support
Teams should be monitored and encouraged to work as a team/support.
𝟐𝟓. Incident with Missing Money in Morocco
These types of issues should be well managed at the highest level of leadership
𝟐𝟔. Impact of Social Media and Team Composition
The impact of Social Media and its negative consequences on team cohesion should be highly monitored
𝟐𝟕. Player Injuries and Performance
Player fitness should be an overall concern for all technical and medical teams
𝟐𝟖. Compensation and Allocation Issues
All compensation should be well structured, equitable, and accordingly
𝟐𝟗. The alleged refusal of the NFF Congress to affect neccessary, achievable and workable Model of the Statutes to accommodate everybody that will liberate the Federation despite the request from the 3 Presidents of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
𝟑𝟎. Members of the Congress should be knowledgeable, credible, and experienced personalities with a maximum of 2 terms in office.
𝟑𝟏. The allegations given that some of the Board Members influence the invitation of players to the National Teams locally and internationally
𝟑𝟐. The Involvement of Team Coaches and Officials in inviting players to the National camp for the purpose of having a source for financial gains
𝟑𝟑. Also the usual claim that in a team delegation that comprises players, coaches, Management Staff of the NFF, and Board Members, Board Members and Management Staff are paid while the players and their officials are not paid.
𝟑𝟒. Allegations of Board Members, NFF Management Staff and Coaches taking incentives to compromise decisions in the build-up to national team camp invitation.
𝟑𝟓. Allegations that some chosen staff of the Federation are allowed to overstay in very lucrative posts or positions to the detriment of the System and other Staff, thus inciting unnecessary rivalry amongst the Staff.
𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻
Internal organizational mechanisms should be taken to verify all facts aimed at coming out with better outcomes of future programmes of the federation. There is a need to actually focus on diagnostic synergies that can now reposition proper treatment of areas highlighted.
It is also very important to commend the team to Morocco and move ahead.
Advice should and must be practical, implementable, and should be the ones that show political will.
