The President of the Forum of Media Assistants to APC National Working Committee Members, Hon. Amb. Timothy Nwachukwu, has cautioned opposition elements and their supporters in Ebonyi State against what he described as reckless, abusive and inflammatory comments directed at Governor Francis Nwifuru.
Nwachukwu, who is also Special Adviser on Media, Political and Strategic Engagement to the APC National Vice Chairman, South East, urged political actors to exercise restraint in their public utterances, stressing that personal attacks against the governor would not translate into political victory.
He stated emphatically: “Insulting Governor Nwifuru will not make you governor. Those marauding as opposition and their supporters should be guided in their utterances. You cannot insult your way to government House”
According to him, democracy provides ample room for constructive criticism, disagreement and the presentation of alternative policies, but political opposition should be anchored on issues, ideas and programmes capable of improving the lives of citizens.
“Constructive criticism is an essential component of democracy, and nobody is against legitimate scrutiny of government policies and programmes. But there is a clear difference between criticism and character assassination,” he said.
Nwachukwu stated that persistent personal attacks and unrestrained insults often reflect a lack of convincing alternatives, urging opposition politicians to concentrate on articulating policies that can win the confidence of the people.
He further challenged opposition elements to engage Governor Nwifuru’s administration on issues of governance and development rather than resorting to what he described as “politics of abuse and propaganda.”
The APC chieftain reaffirmed his support for peaceful and issue-based political engagement in Ebonyi State, calling on political leaders, supporters and other stakeholders to protect the dignity of public discourse.
He maintained that political ambition should be pursued through credible leadership, meaningful programmes and genuine engagement with the electorate, rather than through insults or personal attacks.
Nwachukwu also expressed confidence in the administration of Rt. Hon Francis Nwifuru’s commitment to delivering on its development agenda, urging the people of Ebonyi State to remain focused on the state’s development and democratic progress.
