From 1st October 1979 to 31st December 1983, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was His Excellency, Alhaji Aliyu Shehu Usman Shagari. He hailed from Sokoto State in the North‑Western geopolitical zone of the country. It was under his leadership that the Lagos‑Badagry‑Sokoto Super Highway was first conceived.

The project, envisioned to promote inter‑regional transportation, ensure the free movement of goods and services, and enhance trade and commerce, was unfortunately abandoned for 45 years by successive governments.

However, upon assuming office in 2023, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu revived this ambitious undertaking. The project is designed to address the significant infrastructural development deficit confronting the nation. The picture below tells a powerful and undeniable story. It stands as a testament to the fact that the narratives advanced by naysayers—that the APC‑controlled government has achieved nothing since 2015—are nothing more than tales by moonlight.
