ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Nonye Ejiofor writes with a deep understanding that adversity, though painful, can become the birthplace of strength, purpose, and transformation.

Her work is inspired by the very lives she has touched and the battles she has witnessed—and helped overcome. As President and CEO of Bastion Foundation, she leads efforts to feed the homeless and restore dignity to those navigating life’s hardest seasons in Nashville and beyond. For over two decades, she has walked alongside individuals and families facing hardship in Nigeria—children, widows, immigrants—helping them rise through education, empowerment, and renewed hope.

Earlier in her career, Nonye served as a team leader with the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services, working within both the Foster Care and Adoption Units. In this role, she was entrusted with the care and placement of abused and neglected children—an experience that profoundly shaped her understanding of trauma, resilience, and the fragile journey toward healing. These encounters with some of life’s most vulnerable have deeply informed the emotional truth and authenticity that define her storytelling.

Through scholarships for orphans and children of single mothers, and initiatives that equip widows to rebuild their lives, Nonye has seen firsthand how struggle can shape resilience—and how resilience can give birth to purpose. These lived experiences form the emotional backbone of her writing.

A respected civic leader, she has served on Mayor Karl Dean’s New Americans Advisory Committee and as a Commissioner on the Metro Human Relations Commission under both Mayor Bill Purcell and Mayor Dean. She is also a member of the 2006 Class of Leadership Nashville, a distinguished executive program that fosters deep connections among diverse leaders while offering a multidimensional understanding of the city and its communities. Her advocacy spans numerous organizations, including the American Association of Refugees and Immigrant Women, Women in Number (WIN), and the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition. Through her work with EBICARE, Inc.—a foremost caregiver for individuals with developmental challenges in Davidson and neighboring counties—she has remained steadfast in uplifting the most vulnerable.

In addition, Nonye served as the publisher of The New American Times, a weekly newspaper that circulated across the Nashville area, documenting community life, elevating underrepresented voices, and telling stories that might otherwise go unheard—further reflecting her lifelong commitment to advocacy through storytelling.

A recipient of the Bank of America Local Hero Award and an Athena Award nominee, Nonye brings both professional depth and emotional truth to her writing. With a Master’s degree in Counseling, she explores the inner journeys of her characters with honesty, compassion, and insight.

Through her storytelling, Nonye invites readers to see adversity not as an end, but as a turning point—a call to rise, rebuild, and ultimately, to inspire others.

She lives in Nashville, Tennessee, with her family.
