I have taken note of recent remarks credited to the Minister of the FCT, Chief Nyesom Wike, in which he stated that he would be the “first target” should Mr. Peter Obi emerge President of Nigeria.
First, Mr. Peter Obi is not, and has never been, a leader that engages in victimization, political vendetta, or persecution of opponents. His 8 year record as Governor of Anambra State remains a reference point for governance anchored on the rule of law, due process, and respect for dissenting voices.
No Nigerian was murdered under him as Governor because of politics like in Rivers State under you Mr Wike. There were no political prisoners, no demolished houses of opponents, no one jailed for speaking against him. He governs by the rule of law.
Wike you should be afraid of your Maker. Be afraid of the blood of Rivers people that was shed under your watch. The young men and women who died violently because of their political choices in 2015, 2019, 2023.
Be afraid of the children you made orphans. The widows you created. Be afraid of the electoral results that were mutilated in Rivers State to deny Nigerians their choice, including the mandate of Peter Obi in 2023.
Be afraid of the lands you grabbed from poor people, and the houses demolished, as reward for those you helped destroy their lives and democracy.
Life is temporary. Power is temporary. But death comes, and after death comes judgment. No one will chase you. But justice, conscience, and history will. And no man escapes that. So prepare to give account to God and to the people.
Life and power are transient. A time will come when every leader will give account first to Almighty God, and then to history and the Nigerian people.
A Peter Obi administration will be focused on healing the nation, rebuilding institutions, fighting corruption, and restoring justice and equity for all Nigerians, irrespective of party, ethnicity, or political affiliation. It will not be an administration of retribution.
