The Osuji Institute in Portland, Oregon, USA, is making a public request for funding. It desires money to hire editors to edit the writing of Dr Osuji and publish it. And thereafter, some of the editors are retained to edit the Institute’s expected regular publications.
Over the past twenty years, Dr Osuji has typed at least five pages every morning. They have come to about 100, 000 pages. He has published some of his writings, so people are probably aware of the type of writing he does.
Dr Osuji confronted a world where there is really no writing on African philosophy and worldview; therefore, people all over the world got the impression that Africans do not produce thinkers (philosophers, psychologists and physicists). He set out to remedy this dreadful situation.
He found the chore of rewriting manuscripts the many times a manuscript must be rewritten to get it ready for publication, wasting his time, so he decided to just write them, and when he is sure that he has put in writing the nature of reality, as he experiences it, he will figure out a way to edit them and formally give them to the world. He is now done with the first phase of writing down the philosophy he felt called upon by the nature of his being to write on.
He is now confronted with the task of editing a massive 100,000 single-spaced pages of typed material into publishable books and publishing them.
Editing is not his cup of tea; he needs professional editors to edit the writings into user-friendly books. Thereafter, the Osuji Institute will publish them.
These writings will give the world a worldview that is not strictly Western, Asian, or African, but a unique synthesis of all the above plus Dr Osuji’s experience.
Professor Joseph Campbell, in The Power of Myth, said that the world is waiting for a person to give it a new mythology, aka philosophy, to unify the disparate peoples of the world, a paradigm to live with. The old ones were formulated in parts of the world that were unaware of other parts, hence giving the world partial philosophies, maybe good for those in their parts of the world but not for all people.
Dr Osuji took it as his responsibility to meet this challenge and has done it. He now needs your money to help him and the institute he founded to publicize these ideas, get them into readable forms, and market them.
Please give what you can; if you have millions of dollars, give them; if you have thousands, give them. You are giving to a worthy cause. Please give something to this task of giving the world a new and much-needed philosophical frame of reference that serves the people’s needs.
