Before 2027 if you are confused about who to vote for as the next President of Nigeria, please take time to read this. I could give you 100 reasons why Peter Obi is far better than Tinubu and Atiku but I just want to give you 8 reasons. These are important reasons for you to chose Peter Obi. Because these are things that matter if we want to make progress as a country.
After years of rising cost of living, insecurity, debt, and distrust in government, Nigeria needs a leader who is not corrupt, a leader who understands the economy from the ground up, and a leader who puts the people first.
On those 3 measures, Peter Obi stands apart from both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former VP Atiku Abubakar.
Here is why:
1 Integrity and Zero Tolerance for Corruption. Nigeria’s biggest leak is not oil. It is corruption.
Peter Obi has no corruption case, no EFCC record, and no indictment in over 20 years in public and private life. As Governor of Anambra 2006 to 2014, he left office and left the money in the state treasury. He published budgets and audited accounts.
Nigerians need a leader who cannot be blackmailed and who will fight corruption because he has conquered greed.
And don’t forget that no nation can rise above the character of it’s leader.
Tinubu’s administration as we know is not transparent, is corrupt, selfish and unaccountable, with bloated budgets, first-family spending amid hardship, and he has a sense of entitlement to state resources.
Atiku as VP 1999 to 2007, was linked to privatization deals where national assets were sold cheaply to political allies and family. That model created criminal billionaires and poor Nigerians but not jobs.
If we want resources to go to hospitals and schools, not pockets, we need a leader with proven personal integrity and that is Peter Obi.
2 Peter Obi is a businessman who understand how to build the economy.
Obi built wealth before he ran for political office.
He started as a trader and built businesses from scratch into multinationals in manufacturing, import/export, and banking. He employed thousands of Nigerians directly and indirectly across his companies.
That experience matters because: he knows what ordinary citizens go through, power costs, multiple taxes, FX, and access to credit.
He knows how to create jobs by supporting SMEs and production, not just sharing contracts.
He is contented. A man who has built wealth privately is less likely to loot public wealth. Unlike the current spending culture under Tinubu, or the patronage politics of Atiku’s era.
3 Peter Obi has record of investing in people: Education, Health, and Security. As Governor of Anambra, Obi did what few governors did.
In education Peter Obi returned schools to missionaries with funding, invested in infrastructure, ICT, and teacher training. Anambra went from near the bottom to 1st in WAEC/NECO for years. He gave poor children access to quality public education so parents were not forced into expensive private schools.
In security, he met Anambra when kidnapping was rampant. Through intelligence, community policing, and political will, he made Anambra one of the safest states in Nigeria by 2014. That same decisiveness is what Nigeria needs today against banditry and terrorism.
In the area of cost of governance Peter Obi stands out. Peter Obi slashed waste. No new governor’s lodge. No convoys. He traveled economy. He saved and invested. That fiscal discipline is exactly what Nigeria needs now to free resources for health, education, and infrastructure instead of feeding a few politicians.
4 peter Obi will promote Made-in-Nigeria and create jobs. Obi believes Nigeria must produce what it consumes.
In Anambra he prioritized local companies and contractors. The most cited example is his early investment and patronage of *Innoson Motors* and other manufacturers in the state. That created jobs and an industrial cluster.
As President, that translates to: tax incentives for local production, preference for Nigerian companies in government contracts, and fixing power/logistics so factories can run. That is how you employ millions of young Nigerians, not by sharing rice.
5 peter Obi is a detribalized leader who wants national unity. Nigeria cannot develop in an atmosphere of us versus them.
Peter Obi is detribalized and not a religious bigot. His support base in 2023 cut across ethnicity and faith. He speaks to competence over origin.
Unlike Peter Obi President Tinubu is divisive, lopsided in his appointments, which feeds division.
Atiku also has ethnic entitlement mindset that “only some zones” should produce President, which deepens resentment.
Obi’s style is to reconcile, not to divide. Nigeria needs peace to develop fast, and peace starts with a leader all groups can trust.
6 peter Obi stands for rule of law, accountability, and free Elections. Democracy dies when elections are rigged and the law is selective.
As governor, Obi fought 3 years in court to reclaim his mandate and respected the judiciary. He ran a transparent government that civil society could query.
As President, he will be committed to: Free and fair elections at all levels. So that killers and riggers will no longer have their way. That alone will bring sanity and better leaders to NASS, State Assemblies, and Government Houses.
He believes in transparency and open books. Peter Obi will tell Nigerians how money is spent. No more secret budgets.
7 Peter Obi will help Nigeria’s international reputation and also attract investments.
Nigeria’s image abroad matters for investment and for Nigerians in diaspora.
Obi has a global reputation for prudence and honesty. He has friends and partners in many countries who trust him. That goodwill can be converted into FDI, trade deals, and respect for the Nigerian passport.
Under Tinubu, Nigeria is still fighting to regain investor confidence after FX volatility. Under Atiku’s old PDP model, we had capital flight. Obi offers a reset: a leader the world can do business with.
8 Peter Obi will be a good role model for the next generation of Nigerians. Children copy what they see in Aso Rock.
Obi offers frugality, hard work, humility, and education as values. Not arrogance, not ostentation, not “it is our turn.” He is a role model Nigerian children can look up to.
And he loves peace. He has consistently preached that development without peace is impossible, and that Nigeria’s diversity should be our strength, not our weapon.
Our choices are obvious.Tinubu represents continuity of an establishment politics, of spending on selfish political class and greedy sense of entitlement. Atiku represents a return to the privatization and patronage model of the past. And Peter Obi represents a break: production over consumption, savings over waste, competence over connection, and service over self.
Nigeria does not need another politician. It needs a manager, a builder, and a servant.
For a country bleeding from debt, hunger, and insecurity, the best candidate for 2027 is one who has no corruption baggage, who has created jobs, who values education, who cuts cost, who respects the law, and who can unite Nigerians.
That candidate is Peter Obi. And with Kwankwaso’s record of caring for the poor and investment in education the combined ticket is a great relief for Nigeria.
The time to take back Nigeria is 2027.
