_On behalf of myself, friends, and associates_
With a heavy heart but total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, I write to commiserate with the Hassan family, the Yoruba movie industry, and millions of fans across Nigeria and the diaspora on the painful transition to glory of our father, mentor, and screen icon, *Chief Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as OGOGO*.
Yesterday, *Sunday, 23rd August, 2026*, we lost a giant. After a protracted battle with stage 4 cancer, Ogogo answered the final call.
Baba, you did not just act. You taught. You built. You defined a generation.
For over three decades, *Ogogo* was the face of courage, discipline, and excellence in Yoruba cinema. With that commanding voice, piercing gaze, and unmatched screen presence, you brought to life characters that shaped our values — of integrity, justice, resilience, and cultural pride. Your roles were not mere entertainment. They were moral lessons etched into the conscience of our people.
Beyond the screen, you were a father to many. You opened doors for young actors, mentored producers, and carried the Yoruba language and culture to the world with pride. Even in sickness, you bore it with the same dignity and strength that you portrayed on set. You fought like the warrior you were.
To the *Hassan family*: We share in your grief. Losing a patriarch, a husband, a father, and a breadwinner is a pain no words can heal. But we pray that Allah, the Most Merciful, will grant you the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss. May He forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds, and grant him *Al-Jannah Firdaus*.
To *Yoruba Nollywood*: An era has ended. The industry has lost one of its foundational pillars. Let us honor Ogogo not just with tears, but by upholding the standard of professionalism, discipline, and cultural authenticity that he lived and died for.
To his *colleagues, friends and fans*: Let us celebrate a life well lived. A man who rose from humble beginnings to become a household name. A man who used his talent to feed families, inspire youth, and project Yoruba heritage globally.
Chief Taiwo Hassan, *OGOGO*, you may have taken your final bow, but your legacy will never fade. Your films will continue to teach. Your voice will continue to echo. Your name will continue to command respect.
