Rt. Honourable Esther Joseph Bepeh: A Political Amazon:
The APC candidate for Yakurr 2 State House of Assembly for the 2027 general elections is Rt. Honourable Esther Joseph Bepeh, a political Amazon who has consistently proven her mettle as a public administrator, party bureaucrat, women leader, and legislator par excellence.
She was first elected into the Cross River State House of Assembly in 2007 under the platform of the PDP. However, due to her principled stance and uncompromising credentials, she fell out of favour with party oligarchs and the then PDP-controlled Cross River State Government, culminating in her resignation from the PDP and subsequent defection to the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), founded by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In 2013, the ACN merged with the ANPP, CPC, factions of APGA, and the DPP to form the All Progressives Congress (APC). Rt. Honourable Esther emerged as one of the pioneering leaders who brought the APC to Cross River State, then a stronghold of the PDP. She braved humiliation, oppression, and victimisation to establish a foothold for the APC in the state.
From 2017 to 2021, she served as the State Women Leader of the APC, where she assiduously and vigorously campaigned for the party’s victory. Her efforts contributed to the APC securing 35% in the presidential election, winning the gubernatorial election in Cross River State, and clinching two senatorial seats, six House of Representatives seats, and 21 House of Assembly seats.
In 2023, she was appointed Senior Special Adviser to the Lagos Liaison Office of the Government of Cross River State by His Excellency, Governor Bassey Edet Otu, where she has further demonstrated her administrative acumen. Today, she stands adopted as the consensus candidate for Yakurr 2 State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly for the 2027 general elections.
The Yakurr 2 State Constituency comprises the communities of Mkpani, Nko, Assiga, and Nyima in Yakurr Local Government Area. Rt. Honourable Esther Joseph Bepeh is an epitome of brain and beauty, holding three master’s degrees in Criminology and Security Studies, Business Administration, and Public Administration.
