New Leadership on NAACP Education Chair: Dr. Bonike Odegbami

🎉New Leadership Announcement: Please join us in welcoming Dr. Omobonike Odegbami as the newest chair of the NAACP Oneida County Branch’s Education Committee!

As a vital member of our Executive Committee, Dr. Odegbami will lead our efforts to ensure every student in our local school districts has access to an equitable and just education. In this role, she will be instrumental in ensuring our Branch stays informed of local school conditions while advocating to empower the next generation of young leaders.

Dr. Odegbami is an accomplished educator, administrator, and community leader with over two decades of experience spanning K–12 and higher education. She currently serves as the Director of International Student Services at Hamilton College, where she provides strategic leadership in supporting a diverse global student population while ensuring institutional compliance with federal immigration regulations.

Dr. Odegbami’s career reflects a deep and sustained commitment to educational equity, access, and student success. She began her work in the K–12 space through dual enrollment administration, where she played a critical role in expanding access to college-level opportunities for high school students, particularly those from underserved communities. This work laid the foundation for her commitment to bridging educational pathways and removing systemic barriers. She has since expanded her impact into higher education, where she has become a recognized leader in international education, student advocacy, and cross-cultural engagement.

Dr. Odegbami is also an active contributor to national and global conversations on education and leadership. Through her involvement with NAFSA Association of International Educators, she has served in key leadership roles, including Region X Upstate Representative and Academy Coach, where she mentors emerging professionals and supports the development of best practices in international education.

A scholar-practitioner, Dr. Odegbami, holds a doctorate in Community College Leadership from Kansas State University. Her work is informed by both research and experience, allowing her to bridge theory and practice in meaningful ways. Across all her roles, she remains committed to fostering inclusive environments, empowering individuals and communities, and advancing equity and access in education.
