President Donald J Trump isn’t a Friend or a Messiah of the Black People in the United States, Africa Caribbean Region
By Dr. Joel Ademisoye, United States
I think that many Nigerians, who consider, embrace and support the President Trump’s interest in, sympathy for and intervention in Sokoto in Nigeria against the terrorist, ISIS owing to his claims of Christian Genocide in the country, should wake up from their slumber and realize the real world that the Black people are living in. I never consider and see President Trump as a friend of and a Messiah for the the Black people in the United States, Africa and Carribean region of the world. One doesn’t need to be a Rocket Scientist to figure it out, know who President Trump is, what he stands for and who are his friends. Trump’s antecedents and history of racist tendency, public racist, inflammatory statements, political rhetorics, public insults against the elected Black political leaders in the U. S. and African countries could be found in the public records, such as in the newspapers, published articles and magazines. For example, in November 2025, President President Trump cancelled the U. S.’s participation in and he refused to attend the G20 meeting held in South Africa, because of his claims of genocide against the White farmers in the country. Consequently, it is my aim to share my knowledge of and exposure to President Trump’s racist behavior and through a critical examination, analysis and discussion of and shed some lights on his government policy and the implications for the Black folks in the United States, Africa and the Caribbean region of the world. Furthermore, President Trump stated that South Africa isn’t qualified to be a member of the G20 group, therefore, he promised to expunge the only African country in the G20. Bluntly put, President Trump is a racist, who openly displays his racism against the people of color in the U. S. and Africa as well. Imagine that President Trump has never visited any African countries in his first and second term in office. In the second term, in the composition of his cabinet (16 members total including the vice president), President Trump chose and appointed only one Black as the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, which I consider to be a token political appointment in a non important, non strategic position and poorly funded department in the Trump administration. One lonely Black cabinet member in the Trump administration raised the issues of fairness and justice in the cabinet? The Trump administration is dominated and controlled by the White Americans, whose have strong political loyalty to and share the political ideology of Trumpism, conservative and subscribe to the America First, which are cumulatively reflected in the MAGA Republican Party.
Oops! I vividly recall that President Trump during a meeting on the U. S. immigration in the Oval Office, where he characterized Haiti, El Salvador and African countries as “huts and shitholes” in January 2018. The Trump administration has ended the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for 350,000 Haitians and they are to be deported by ICE, in spite of the political conflicts, insecurity challenges and economic downturn in their home country.
Since Trump came to the national political stage and limelight in the United States as a Republican Party presidential candidate in 2015, I have observed, watched him and noticed his derogatory public statements, views against the Black people such as Nigerians, Haitians, Mexicans, Venezuelans and his actions during his political campaigns and rallies in the United States. In the course of his political career, Trump has insulted, made derogatory comments and blantly repeated accusations and lies against the former U. S. President Barack Obama and the former Vice President of the United States Kamala Harris during the 2025 presidential campaigns and rallies. You might recall the Trump’s false claims and obsession with Obama’s non citizenship and his religion as a Muslim. Also, Trump accused the Vice President Harris, the first Black woman presidential candidate in the history of the United States presidential election in 2025, of importing criminals and gangs into the country, who preyed on the innocent Americans. One of my favorite of Trump’s lies, is his false claims that the Haitians in Springfield, Ohio, were stealing and eating the cats and dogs, which are owned by the members of the community. In addition, I found President Trump administration’s claim of genocide against the White South Africans to be unsubstantiated with evidence and the government policy of giving the special immigration status to the White South Africans, to allow them to emigrate to the United States, which is indicative of a racist U. S. government policy, specifically tailored to give preferential treatment for and to accommodate the White South African farmers.
President Trump in the second term in office, hasn’t reduced his decibel volume of racism and racist behavior in the United States. It is a poor taste and sad that President Trump, is found posting and watching a racist video clip depicting a former U. S. President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama as Apes, which is posted on the Trump’s owned Truth Social platform. Out of curiosity, why is President Trump fixated on the former President Obama, the first and only African-American President of the United States’s history? Another racist motivated, unprecedented action, with an impunity, President Trump single-handedly moved the President Obama’s portrait to an obscured location in The White House, to be replaced by the President Trump’s photo, following his assassination attempt in April 2025. I consider the Trump’s unconventional action as an abuse of the presidential office and power, which is unbecoming of the president of the United States. His actions are unAmerican, uncivilized and unacceptable. Therefore, it is a reprehensible behavior, which should be utterly condemned by all Americans irrespective of one’s political party affiliation, political ideology and persuasion in a strong term. Let it be known that President Obama and his wife, Michelle are political icons and revered political leaders in the African-American community in the United States, country at large and around the world. What is the Black people in the United States, Africa and Carribean region make out of President Trump’s posting of a racist, derogatory video clip portraying the former President Obama and First Lady Michelle as Apes, posted on the president’s social media platform? Guess what about the irresponsible, reckless and racist behavior of President Trump against the Obamas, many Americans including the only African American Republican Senator of South Carolina, Tim Scott, were shocked, appalled and outraged by the President Trump’s racist post. President Trump was asked to tender apologize for his indiscretion, insult and racism, against the Obama, but he refused. However, the president said, he made no “mistake.” I have never seen President Trump publicly apologized for his insensitive comments or wrong doing. Base on Trump’s history and antecedents, the American people, shouldn’t waste their time on getting an apologize for his racist behavior in depicting the Obamas as apes. Question: So, is the President Trump’s posting of the Obamas as apes on his Social Truth platform was deliberately, intentionally and knowingly done? What is the President Trump’s motives for posting the derogatory video of the Obamas on his social platform? Do the American people take President Trump at his words, “I didn’t make a mistake” (Source: Natalie Allison, “Trump on posting video of Obamas as apes: I didn’t make a mistake,” The Washington Post, February 8, 2026, PA1 and A15.). Honestly speaking, I think that President Trump has stoop low and descended to the deepest depths of the pit of racism in the United States.
Against the backdrop of President Trump’s historic appetite and notoriety for racist statements, endorsing of the racist groups (I vividly recall the racist Far Right group deadly Rally, involving the KKK, the pro Nazis and the White Nationalists and the counter rally by the Black Lives Matter in Charlottesville, Virginia in August 2017, to which President Trump said that there are fine men on both sides. ). To Trump, it means that the members of the Far Right group are fine men. In this context, many Black Americans have characterized the president as an epitome of the racist tendency and behavior in the United States in recent memory. Also, many Americans found President Trump as playing the politics of identity based on race, nationality, ethnicity, gender and religion as well. Without any doubt, Trump is Islamophobia, but he does business with the Saudi Arabia and Qatar Royal Family. Is this President Trump’s family business with the Saudi Arabia Royal Family is a hypocrisy or what?
It is obvious that President Trump’s disdain for, oral abuse of and ugly treatment of the former U. S. First Lady and Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton during the 2015 U. S. presidential campaign and election, it is glaringly example of the way that Trump treated the American women, with no civility, decency and respect for the female gender in the country.
As an African American, in the United States, according to my examination, analysis and discussion of President Trump’s racist culture, derogatory public pronouncements against the African Americans and the pull Down syndrome of the Black Africans, it seems that the orthodoxy of racism has returned to the United States under the political leadership of President Trump, his MAGA Republican Party and Authoritarian U. S. government in Washington, D. C. President Trump, considering his history of racism and volume of public racist pronouncements and racist tendencies and behaviors against the Black people, Trump remains the epicenter of racism in the United States. Let it be known to my readers that I don’t have an axe to grind against President Trump, I am just sharing and presenting the information about the president’s culture of racism, open insults on the elected Black political leaders and people in the U. S. and in Africa, as if the Black Lives don’t matter to President Trump in the world. You can take a clue from President Trump’s insensitive, despicable actions and poor judgment in depicting the Obamas as Apes. Frankly speaking, I characterized the President Trump’s erroneous actions against the Obamas as throwing a low blow, below the belt, in depicting them as Apes.
In concluding this article, I need to share with President Trump that there is something more powerful than hate, which is Love. Consequently, I would like to appeal to President Trump, to change his irresponsible behavior, try something new, embrace, practice, show and give love to his fellow human beings, instead of hate, in this case, to the African Americans in the United States, the Black people in Africa and around the world. Without mincing words, it is my profound belief and conviction that LOVE, is the conqueror of hate in the world. I likened love to the light whereas hate is the darkness in human life. In fact, they are two diametrically opposing forces in our world. Thus, love is the light, where and when it is beamed and shines on hate, it dissolves and disappears from our lives and the world at large.
