_…New Ogun SWAT Commander, SP Eneye Obeh present at colourful ceremony_

The immediate past Commander of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit of the Ogun State Police Command, CSP Salami Akanbi Moruf (Rtd.) topped the list of distinguished officers honoured by the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, with the Commissioner’s Commendations and Awards for meritorious service.
The prestigious ceremony, held on Monday, 28 September 2026, at the Police Officers’ Mess, Ibara Housing Estate, Abeokuta, celebrated 39 officers comprising five retired and 34 serving officers in recognition of dedication, professionalism, sacrifice and selfless service to the Nigeria Police Force and the nation.
Among the retired honourees were DSP Olaifa Emmanuel (Rtd.), former 2i/c SWAT; DSP Ayanlola Olatunji (Rtd.), former O/C SIT-REP; DST Saanu John (Rtd.); and the much-celebrated DST Anifa Bello (Rtd.), whose exemplary traffic management service had earlier been recognized by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, at Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The ceremony also witnessed the presence of the new Commander, SWAT, Ogun State Command, SP Eneye Obeh, alongside other senior officers, serving and retired personnel, families, friends and well-wishers, underscoring continuity and esprit de corps within the tactical unit and the Command.
In his address, CP Bode Ojajuni described policing as an arduous national responsibility that demands sacrifice, resilience and unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property. He noted that 35 years of meritorious service to the nation is no mean feat and must be celebrated.
According to the CP, the commendation was not only to appreciate the retired officers but also to motivate serving personnel to remain committed to excellence. He emphasized that honouring retirees preserves institutional memory and reinforces the Force’s value for dedication and professionalism.
Paying glowing tributes, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Gbenga Adeoye, singled out CSP Salami Akanbi Moruf (Rtd.), DSP Olaifa Emmanuel (Rtd.) and DSP Ayanlola Olatunji (Rtd.) for their diligence, dedication and meritorious service, describing their careers as worthy of emulation.
Similarly, the DPOs of Ibara and Aregbe Divisions, CSP Lateef Balogun and CSP Rasak Adeoye respectively, celebrated DST Anifa Bello (Rtd.) and DST Saanu John (Rtd.), who enlisted on 1st September, 1991 and 1st August, 1991 respectively, for their distinguished service.
Responding on behalf of the retired officers, CSP Salami Akanbi Moruf (Rtd.) expressed profound gratitude to the Commissioner and the Command leadership. He described CP Bode Ojajuni as a father, mentor and caregiver who values both serving and retired officers, and assured the Command of their continued readiness to support the Force and the nation whenever called upon.
On behalf of the serving awardees, SP Shittu Bamidele, O/C Anti-Kidnapping, thanked the Commissioner and pledged sustained professional, responsive and people-oriented policing.
The 34 serving officers honoured included SP Shittu Bamidele, SP Gbenga Ayodele, O/C Anti-Robbery, DSP Sheriff Balogun, 2i/c SWAT, ASP Adetutu Adesida, ASP Ojikutu Akinola, ASP Olupona Helen, ASP Jimoh Lasisi, Insp. Balogun Samuel, Insp. Adelaja Oluwatosin, Insp. Ojogo Ogundeji, Sgt. Muhammed Rukayat, Cpl. Adenuga Rasaki and Cpl. Adeyanju Elijah, among others.
The vote of thanks was delivered by DCP Oliver Ezirim, in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), who appreciated all guests for making the occasion memorable.
The colourful event reaffirmed CP Ojajuni’s leadership commitment to rewarding merit, valuing institutional experience and building a motivated workforce driven by integrity, discipline and excellence.
