I have examined the remarkable achievements and projects of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu under his Renewed Hope Agenda in the three years of his administration. His bold bid to carry along all the North East, North West, South, and South East geopolitical zones demonstrates a nationalistic approach to development across every part of the country. This stands contrary to the impression created by some naysayers, blinded by ethnic and sectional bias, who claim he is only concerned about Lagos and the South West because of his cultural heritage there.
From my research and analysis, I can conclusively, objectively, and dispassionately submit that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been fair and just to all parts of Nigeria. Below is the scorecard of his administration’s achievements in the South West geopolitical zone, which can be juxtaposed with similar records from the other five zones.
South West Achievements (May 2026)
Lagos State
– Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway: A flagship ongoing project transforming coastal connectivity.
– Red Line Rail System: Commissioned to enhance urban transit.
– 5.04-Kilometer Link Bridge: Inaugurated to reduce congestion.
– Lekki Deep Sea Port Access Road: Supporting logistics capacity of the new port.
– Schools Complex: A project comprising 36 schools to improve education infrastructure.
Ogun State
– Gateway International Airport: Commissioned to boost industrial activities.
– Atan-Alapoti-Ado-Odo Road: Approved for construction to improve connectivity.
– Ikoga Road Project: Approved as part of road network improvements.
Other Regional Projects
– Benin-Shagamu-Ore Expressway: Final 96km rehabilitation budgeted at ₦187 billion.
– Akure-Ekiti Dualisation: 15km stretch of Akure-Eta-Ogbese-Iju-Ekiti to Ikere-Ado-Ekiti road.
– Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway: A major road project passing through the zone to boost economic activities.
– South-West Development Commission: Signed into law to drive regional development and infrastructure upgrades.
Economic Leap:
NigeriaPresident Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda: A Scorecard of South West Achievements made a significant leap in its economic agenda when S&P Global Ratings, one of the world’s leading credit rating agencies, upgraded Nigeria’s sovereign rating from B- to B. This marked improvement reflects growing investor confidence, reduced borrowing costs, and enhanced global credibility for the Nigerian economy.
S&P Global Ratings’ evaluations are highly influential in global financial markets, guiding investors on safe capital allocation. For Nigeria, this upgrade signals stronger economic fundamentals and improved transparency in debt management.
Conclusion:
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has demonstrated fairness and inclusivity in its development agenda, ensuring that the South West, alongside other regions, benefits from landmark infrastructure and economic reforms. The Renewed Hope Agenda is not sectional but nationalistic, laying a foundation for balanced growth across Nigeria.
