Katsina Engages KEDCO to Guarantee Stable Power Supply During Ramadan
Katsina State Government has held a strategic meeting with the management of the Kano Electricity Distribution Company to ensure improved electricity supply across the state ahead of Ramadan.
The Special Adviser on Power and Energy to the Governor, Dr. Hafiz Ahmed, led the state delegation at the meeting.
Dr. Hafiz explained that the engagement reflects Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda’s unwavering commitment to the welfare and comfort of the people of Katsina State, particularly during the holy month when stable power supply is critical for households, mosques, businesses, and community activities.
“Governor Radda is determined to ensure that our people are not inconvenienced during Ramadan. We will continue to engage all relevant stakeholders to deliver on this commitment,” Dr. Hafiz stated.
During the meeting, KEDCO briefed the state delegation on the recent temporary reduction in power supply experienced in parts of Katsina.
The company explained that the shortfall is linked to a technical issue affecting Line 1 under the Transmission Company of Nigeria, which has constrained available supply within the network.
KEDCO assured the state government that corrective measures are ongoing in collaboration with the Transmission Company of Nigeria and that power supply is expected to improve significantly in the coming days.
The electricity company also disclosed that maintenance and upgrade works earlier scheduled for this period have been deliberately rescheduled to after Ramadan to minimize disruptions and ensure stable electricity supply for residents throughout the holy month.
The Department of Power and Energy reiterated the state government’s expectation of enhanced service delivery during Ramadan and beyond, stressing the need for reliability, proactive fault resolution, and effective communication with consumers.
The collaboration is aimed at strengthening distribution infrastructure, improving service quality, and ensuring that investments translate into measurable improvements in electricity access and reliability across all 34 local government areas.
The Katsina State Government assured residents of its continued engagement with sector stakeholders to guarantee stable, affordable, and sustainable electricity supply across the state.
