People’s behaviors are influenced by their philosophy or religion

ONE’S PHILOSOPHY OR RELIGION INFLUENCES ONE’S BEHAVIORS

Ozodi Osuji

Each person has a personal philosophy or religion that guides his behaviors. He consciously or unconsciously lives according to his philosophy.

Philosophy is what life means to the individual, why he is doing what he does. You ought to make your philosophy conscious in your mind, and knowing what it makes you do, and evaluate whether what it makes you do is good or bad.

COMPETITION AND SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST PHILOSOPHY

In 1859 Charles Darwin authored a book called “The Origin of Species”. In it he said that we are animals and not the religious beings that we used to think that we are. We are animals doing what other animals are doing, competing for food and access to territory where we obtain our food. Those more able to compete adapt to their environment and those less able to compete do not adapt to their environment and die off.

People in nineteenth century Europe read his book and recognized that it articulated the truth as they knew it. Herbert Spencer produced his ethics based on Darwinian philosophy. Thus, Europeans came to believe that we are mere animals struggling for survival and the fittest competitors survived and the weak died off.

Armed with that philosophy, they finally descended on Africa, saw Africans as weak competitors and quickly defeated them and took over their lands and carved them up between the great powers of Europe: France, Germany, Britain, Spain and Portugal.

In the USA the robber barons, those who started corporate businesses and became fabulously rich, oppressed their weak workers and thus it came to be that less than one percent of the USA own most of the land and everything else. The people accepted that the powerful prevail and the weak work for the rich until they die and that is all there is to life.

This is the European and white American extant philosophy. Understand it and do not cry over its oppressiveness; your emotionalism will not make them change one iota of their behavior.

ISLAM’S MISSION

3:151 “We shall cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve, because they joined others in worship with Allah, for which He had sent no authority; their abode will be the Fire and how evil is the abode of the Zalimun.” Quran, Surah 3: 151

2: 191 “And kill them wherever you find them.” Quran, Surah 2:191

9: 5 “So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captive and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them.” Quran, Surah 9:5.

Mohammed (570-632 CE) established his Islamic religion in 610 CE. He posited that there is one God, Allah and that he is Allah’s prophet. All Muslims must submit to the will of Allah and his prophet, Mohammed.

9: 29 “Fight those who do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day and who do not consider unlawful what Allah and His Messenger have made unlawful and who do not adopt…” Quran, Surah 9:29.

So armed, his followers went on a war path and in less than a century took over the entire middle East and got to as far as China before the Chinese checked their mission to take over all Asia.

They took over Palestine in 638, took over Egypt in 643, took over Morocco, Spain in 711 and were in France before the Frank-Germans stopped them in 732 CE.

The salient point here is that their religion gave them the impetus to try to take over the world. They took over wherever part of the world that they could. They now have all North Africa, Sahelian West Africa and East Africa. They once tried to take over all of Europe and still hope to do so. Their religion urges them to convert the entire world to Islam and they obey it.

Dying in wars, Jihads, to convert the world to Islam is to them glorious death.

The West is now ruled by sentimentalists who are not aware of the role of philosophy and religion in people’s lives hence they now allow Muslims to propagate in their lands. When those reach a critical mass, they will try to take over Europe and America.

Realistic China understands the mission of Islam, since the eight century, China has struggled to keep Islam out of China.

CHRISTIANITY HAS LOST ITS ORGANIZING MISSION STATEMENT

There was a time that Christians believed that Jesus Christ was the only path to God. In the Gospel according to John, Jesus Christ said:

14: 6: “Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Bible, John 14:6.

With that implacable conviction, Christians went on a warpath to convert Europe, the Americas, Australia, New Zealand and parts of Africa to Christianity.

However, this sense of mission has left Christianity. Christianity is now defined as the racist nonsense called American evangelism that exists to propagate the white man’s rule in the USA. These folks forget that Jesus Christ was a brown Middle Easterner, not white man.

The propagation of Christianity cannot be based on white ideology but belief in the oneness of humankind and Christianity as the only path to that oneness.

Racism has killed off Christianity in America; Islam and its universalism is alive. However, the Arab centeredness of Islam will be contested and could lead to its demise.

THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD OF THE UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY

The philosophy of the university community can be called the scientific method. Here, only what is observable, verifiable, experiment-able and falsifiable is accept as temporary truth, to be discarded when disproved. Empiricism, aka logical Positivism is especially useful, it has given us enormous understanding of natural phenomena and enabled us to fashion incredible technology to adapt to the world.

We are entering the age of Artificial Intelligence and whoever wins this race will dominate the rest of the world for a long time. China appears poised to lead in this race.

EXISTENTIAL REALISM

Empirical observation shows me that human beings are living for nothing. They eat, age and die; there is no apparent meaning and purpose to their lives; they are part of a meaningless universe speeding up to heat-loss induced death.

However, if we are doing what we like doing, and dedicate our lives to doing it, life become all engrossing and one forgets one’s existential meaninglessness; one is on a ball. Find out what you are good at, train for it and do it twenty-four seven and do it with all your energy and you are having fun in life, regardless of whether there is God and life after we die or not. Do something and do it to the best of your ability and you are living.

Armed with this philosophy, I evaluate people. Those who are doing something meaningful with their lives I tend to say that they are fully alive but those who are merely existing like cattle seem not alive.

When people die, I ask: what were they doing? If they had committed to goals that produce what serves humanity well, I regret their death but if they were doing nothing and were merely existing, I do not evince an iota of regret for their death.

The same philosophy applies to me. If I am doing something that I deem important to me and humanity I justify my existence but if not, dying is preferable to my unproductive existence.

THE UNIVERSE AS THE DREAM OF THE SONS OF GOD

My metaphysics says that our true states of being is part of unified spirit self, aka God. God is eternal, permanent and changeless. We are the sons of that eternally unified spirit self.

Metaphorically, we decided to separate from unified spirit self but cannot do so in truth and did what we can, sleep and dream that we live in a separated universe.

We dream separation from God and from each other; we dream through our bodies.

There are other forms of dreaming. There are those who are dreaming through pure light forms.

There are those dreaming in formless spirit states.

There are those not dreaming, those awake in our true home, formless, unified spirit state.

The relevant point here is that I see our universe as a dream with people at various levels of dreaming; many are moving away from their unified spirit selves, and some are moving back to their unified spirit selves.

People’s existence in bodies, space and time are dreams and do not matter. At best they have happy dreams through loving each other.

Ideally, people should awaken from the dream of separation by returning to the awareness of their eternal unified spirit state; but that is not going to happen soon. The sons of God have a right to sleep and dream.

Our Physical universe will be around for more trillions of years to enable the sons of God to keep dreaming that they are separated from God and from each other.

Before our planet dies in a few billion years, people on it would have developed the science and technology that would enable them to migrate to exoplanets in our Milky Way Galaxy and, thereafter, to other galaxies and will keep doing so until the galaxies are over expanded from each other, and the universe dies from heat loss.

Before the physical universe dies, people would have the science and technology to tunnel their ways to other universes. There are infinite universes.

People go from one universe to others ad infinitum. Those who are tired of this constant migration from one universe to another return to unified spirit state, awaken from the dream and rest in perfect peace and joy.

CONCLUSION

There are people with philosophies that dispose them to not cry over people’s suffering and death. I say this because some persons are sentimental and think that the rest of the world ought to help them out of their poverty. Well, there are people who could care less if other human beings suffered or died. Therefore, if you want to live, do what you must do to live and do not rely on other people to enable you live.

Do not blame other people for keeping you down; blaming them is not going to make them stop keeping you down; as they see it, they do not exist to place you on a pedestal.

It is up to you to keep you up and alive, if that is what you want; this is called philosophical realism.
