THE YORUBA HAVE VISCERAL HATRED OF THE IGBO; THEREFORE, THE BEST SOLUTION IS FOR THEM TO GO THEIR SEPARATE WAYS.

By Ozodi Osuji

In the past, I devoted a lot of time and energy to talking about what is wrong with Igbos (one’s character weakness is also the source of one’s character strength, if transmuted).
I talked about the Igbos’ sense of being superior to all people. A claim that they even apply to themselves; Igbos from one clan feel superior to others; Anambra Igbos, for example, generally feel superior to Owerri Igbo, etc. I detest this tendency because to me, people are the same and equal.
At any rate, I was born and grew up in Lagos and could never hate Yorubas.
Nevertheless, what is increasingly apparent to me is that most Yorubas do not like Igbos. They, of course, detest the Igbos’ arrogance in seeing themselves as superior to other people. But that neurosis is not all there is to Yorubas’ hatred of the Igbos.
See, the current Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration has systematically removed Igbos from top positions in his government (apparently, he is stupid enough to believe that Igbos would accept it and be happy campers).

What exactly are those holding Igbos down drinking? Are they on some kind of drugs that dull their accurate perception of people?
Igbos are achievement-oriented. They work hard; they are competitive. They aim to excel in their competition. That is just who they are.
Now, if you artificially close all doors to reach the top for them, what do you think they would do? Accept it? And why should they accept it? Is it because you are an African idiot who thinks that he is licensed to oppress your fellow Africans?
Was it not the Igbos who resented the British ruling Nigeria and fought to get rid of them, and now you expect them to accept you, Hausa, Fulani, Yoruba, as their eternal rulers and not struggle to remove you? If you so believe you are indeed a Sambo, an unintelligent African.

Every day perception ought to tell you to be realistic with people’s nature and treat them as such. If you want peace and progress in Nigeria, you must give all Nigerians equal opportunity, let people compete, and may the best rise to the top, but as long as you use shenanigans to give Hausa, Fulani, and Yoruba advantages, Nigeria will remain the shithole that Donald Trump calls it.
I do not fully understand why Yorubas hate Igbos. Igbos do not hate them or anyone; all that Igbos do is run their mouth about their phantom superiority to all human beings. A little insight into human beings tells us that some people, for some reason, feel inferior and compensate with a desire for false superiority. What you do to such people is understand them and try to let them know that all people are the same.
For example, white America has the delusional belief that it is superior to black folks and, on that basis, discriminates against black folks. What you do is educate them to accept our inherent equality; you do not hate them, you educate them. Hatred is impermissible; only love for all human beings is sane behavior.

People cannot live with those who hate them at the visceral level. Therefore, I have concluded that Igbos ought to go their separate ways from Nigeria.
I am not talking about so-called Biafra. I am an Igbo from Alaigbo, not some freaking Biafran, a village in Portugal.
Why recolonize one’s mind by calling oneself a European name? I feel insulted by being called Biafran. I am Igbo, period.
I say let Igbos and Yorubas go their separate ways. In the future, a true leader will emerge in Africa, in the mode of Napoleon Barnaparth, and use force to unite all African ethnic groups and make each ethnic group a state within the desired African federation. Until that happy goal is attained, let Igbos and Yorubas temporarily separate and go their diverse ways.
I am sick and tired of the hatred I see coming from Yorubas towards Igbos.

One would like to think that Africans are thoughtful people and, as such, know that the moment they step out of Africa, they are treated as inferior persons who have contributed diddlysquat to history. All Africans are seen as undesirables in Europe and America; at best, folks, out of a sense of political correctness, tolerate them and do not tell them what they think of them (unintelligent).
As we talk, the Donald Trump Administration in the USA has removed African Americans from important positions and banned DEI and Affirmative Action Programs; to him, no mention is to be made of black folks’ history and presence in the USA; all multicultural programs are eliminated.
What people who are treated as garbage ought to do is accept their common fate and work together to improve Africa, but instead, all you see in Nigeria is the constant wrangling of Yorubas and Igbos, each making life difficult for the other.

The white man, of course, likes the division and exploits it to control Africans.
Since Africans seem unaware of how the rest of the world treats them, with contempt, and the fact that until a well-governed country emerges in Africa, whites and Asians would not take them seriously, let Igbos go their separate ways.
If this happens, in a generation, thirty years, Igbos will be operating at the level of the Asian tigers.
I know that the adage that misery likes company is true; thus, shiftless Nigerians like to keep all Nigerians in their garbage heap. However, since Igbos want rapid modernization, Nigeria must stop holding them down.
Let each ethnic group go do its own thing instead of the artificial political construct called Nigeria holding down those who want to become developed.
It would seem that I minimized the Igbos’ role in their problematic relationship with the Yorubas and others. I did not. I have elsewhere written exhaustively about the role Igbos play in arousing unnecessary enmity for themselves by looking down on other people, and suggested what they need to do to get along with all people, such as seeing all people as equal, respecting all of them, and giving up the delusion that some people can ever be superior to others.

All human beings, men and women, black and white, are biologically the same and ought to accept this scientific fact and give up their neurotic desire to overcome their existential sense of insignificance and nothingness by seeking personal or group superiority.
Nigerians must stop making themselves the laughingstock of the rest of the world.
