Ann Romney, John MCcain, Chris Christie, and Paul Ryan - Made Persuasive Reason to Give FOUR More Years to President Barack Obama at Convention

Written by

After reading Dr. Wumi Akintide’s article captioned: "Anne Romney, Chris Christie, John Mccain and Paul Ryan Have Just Made the Most Persuasive Reason for Giving 4 more Years to President Obama" posted on www.nigeriaworld.com of August 31, 2012, I felt energized by the way this comprehensive writer captured what many of us have been thinking about the ongoing Republican Political Convention Speeches that just ended last Thursday in Tampa of Florida. Dr. Wumi’s position is that Obama is the anointed son of America needed at a difficult time that America is facing currently. He goes on to suggest that Obama is a community force that Republicans have feared the most on how to take back America on the GOP lane to do what they are good at, fighting wars and suffering Americans along the way. They use wars to tell Americans that things are bad and that Americans should understand why she has to control the world through wars. Suffering Economically should be a sacrifice to win wars outside the shores of America. But with the coming of Obama, the way wars are fought through empowering the people of other nations to fight injustices and accommodate the greater majority need not waste the presence and blood of young Americans in achieving that goal.

Eight years, Former President George Bush served as a war President and focused on Terrorism as a war machine agenda, America needed to forget about economic growth and structures and legislations for that growth.  In the end, he left office leaving America in economic bad shape.  Who on earth would have done things better than Obama in the circumstances and excitements with which Americans turned on him to lead and rescue America from the GOP menace? In Dr. Wumi’s way of capturing the intrigues in the GOP convention, he has asserted that God is with Obama and anyone that is of and in God, is the Choice America can make and live by. Because America is built and constitutionally shaped “In God we Trust”, God gave America Obama at a time like the people of Israel were given Mosses to lead them to the promised land. The way is rough and that rough way has remained the blundering GOPs.  However, in choosing the next President of America, God is awake to lead Obama through having prepared him well enough. That the call to victory is a God’s call of the anointed.

Below is Dr. Wumi’s article which I thing you will appreciate reading to see what I saw.

Readers of this column should accept this piece as the part 2 to my article titled the “God at work” factor in the American Election. Usually the Republicans otherwise called the Conservatives in America always like to claim the higher moral ground and the “holier than thou” religious piety and precept that they are far closer to God than the Democrats or the Liberals. They would have sworn that one of them crafted the statement “in God We Trust” which is boldly displayed on every denomination of American Dollar which has more or less become the world currency thereby pushing the almighty British Sterling and even the Euro or the German Currency or even the Japanese Yen into a distant second or third and fourth place in

all financial transactions around the world even with the American economy looking for a little more

oxygen to keep it going on 4 cylinders.

I have listened very carefully to all the speeches delivered at the on-going Republican Convention in Tampa, Florida. Convention speeches, as we all know, are designed to self-glorify and to cast aspersion on the integrity and the credibility of the opponent. It is nothing new at all. Both parties are guilty as charged on that front alone. If we go beyond that facade and smokescreen one out of the two parties has to be more credible than the other if the truth must be told. The Democrats just happen to be the most credible in this election circle for all the reasons I have, earlier on stated in all of my writings on this election.

I have listened very attentively to commentaries and punditry from CNN, MSNBC, FOX News Channel 5, Channel 13 Public Service Television, the two C-Span stations and many of the political talk show hosts including the Rush Limbaugh and most of the powerful late night comedian like Jay Leno, David Letterman, Stewart, Colbert, Bill Maher to mention a few. I have not heard any of this long list of powerful talk shows including Face the Nation, Meet the Press and Global Public Square by Fareed Zakaria mention the fact that God Almighty Himself may be actively involved in this election doing His Calculus and letting the whole world know loud and clear which of the two parties or which of the two candidates he is backing in this election. We therefore can only infer using circumstantial evidences anywhere we can find them.

That is what I have tried to do in all of my writings on this election and I am more than convinced that God is not just sitting on the fence or folding up his arms watching the two parties and the two individuals slug it out without taking a position. Because God can tell the difference between right and wrong and because He can read the minds of men and because he knows the beginning from the end and the end from the beginning, it will be absurd to even imagine He does not have a horse in this race.. I do not understand why many of the pundits who profess to worship and know God better than many of us are not commenting at all on the possible role of God in this election.

This observation is kind of strange to me in a country that prides herself on her total belief in the supreme Deity. Even the hundreds of television-evangelists like Creflo Dollar, Ted Haggard, Joel Osteen, Bishop Eddie Long and Benny Hinns to mention a few and so many others I would not bother to name in this expose have steered clear of this controversial subject in their weekly homilies every Sunday on Channel 5 and other channels for reasons best known to them. The more I think about this observation, the more I am inclined to focus my search light on why I think God is more than just a casual observer in this election. He may well be the very “Decider-in-Chief” that George Bush Junior mistakenly called himself in his 8 years as President. God Almighty is really the true Decider-in-Chief if you see what I see.

The Republicans in their collective foolhardiness have continued to ignore to talk about this observation and another pertinent one which both parties Republicans and Democrats alike have deliberately refused to elaborate upon for tactical reasons. My point here is that no candidate running for the President in America seeks that position with a mindset of just have one term because all of them have to know they could only do but so much in 4 years especially when what Obama inherited from George Bush in 2008 were as bad as they get with America simultaneously fighting two wars in addition to her self- imposed or self-inflicted role as the police man of the world and totally failing to realize and appreciate that there is a limit to America power. My second point which none of the pundits rarely ever talk about is the notion that every incoming President always needs to move with caution and circumspection in his or her first term in order to leave enough room to make a very credible case for his or her second.

If the Republicans are not aware of this point or if they are just deliberately dodging the bullet, surely the rest of us who are going to be the reluctant victims of their collective folly ought to be able to remind them. That is precisely why I am making this point. Paul Ryan asked the most potent question in his brilliant but draconian acceptance speech, “What makes Obama thinks he can do anything different from what he has done in the last 4 years?” That is an easy question to answer. The simple answer is that Mr. Obama would be completely free in the next 4 years to really act on his convictions and to do some of the things he could not do or fully contemplate in his first term because he definitely had his eyes set on a second term like most successful Presidents do around the world. I guess my quick response to Paul Ryan’s rhetorical question is that 4 more years for Obama would be strikingly different from his previous 4 for precisely the reasons I have just stated.

Obama has spent his first 2 years out of 4 trying to co-operate and work with the Republicans like he promised he would, when he first sought the office in 2008 as a rookie. He presented the Republicans with the Olive branch because he promised he was going to be a “uniter” and not a “divider” and better still a true catalyst for hope and bipartisanship in America.

In 3 painful years Obama had learnt that the Republicans are never going to ever co-operate with him because they too have their eyes set on taking back the White House and that is never going to happen if they allow Obama to become the “Osagyefo” or the victorious leader he so much craved and could have become in his first 4 years had the Republicans cooperated with him. Rather than do that the Republicans understandably obstructed Obama every step of the way because they have figured it out that doing so was their only path to regain power at the national level. In trying to appease the Republicans in his first 2 years and certainly before the 2010 mid-term elections in which the President and the Democrats were thoroughly humiliated. They very narrowly won the Senate by just one vote, and they lost the House of Representatives by more than 40 seats. Obama had to return to Plan B which compelled him to return to his democratic base and to stop playing the thankless role of a truly bi-partisan President because there is nothing like that in the blood sport that Politics has become in America. He knew he would be a one term President if he stuck to his role as a “uniter” whose only mission was to promote bi-partisanship in America. Many of his ardent supporters in the Democratic Party myself included were disappointed he had not been more assertive, strong and heavy-handed in dealing with the Republicans. As the first minority black President in American History, it made a lot of sense for the young man to do what he did with the Republicans.

Having said that, I think Obama got the message from the Republicans loud and clear. He therefore quickly moved reinvigorate his standing with his political base and to start using executive orders to do some of the things that the Republicans would not allow him to do or take credit for. He was uniquely luck because God was clearly on his side. His decapitation of Al Qaeda and classic killing of Osama Bin Laden and his getting the Nobel Peace Prize within his first year in office were all proof of how much the young man is favored by God. If it were left alone to the Republicans they would never have wished him such a favor because it was very much against their ultimate interest as the party waiting to see the President fumble so they could tear him apart. God did not permit that and that was a miracle indeed.

That was how Obama was able to reclaim the center of gravity with his base and with much of the swing vote in American Politics. The combination of that is what is going to catapult him to victory in November without any question in my mind. God is already serving notice to the Republicans they are definitely backing the wrong horse in this election and that they are going nowhere but down when the chips are down in November. That Romney, with all his baggage, would end up as the lesser of all evils among the candidates running for President in the Republican Party is truly the best thing going for Obama in this election. The picking of Paul Ryan for Vice President was really the icing on the cake for Obama and the Democrats in this election.

Ann Romney delivered what I would rank as a very good speech in trying to repackage, reintroduce and market her husband of close to 50 years as decidedly better than the young articulate incumbent President he is running against. That to me was a hard sell and Ann Romney went about it by trying to lecture American voters on the true meaning of Love as if America like a spinster is merely looking for the most eligible bachelor to marry among the two candidates running.

If the qualities that make a good and loving husband are the only attributes needed in a President, many of you reading this and myself included would be qualified to run and be elected President in America. The two candidates running this year are great husbands and amazing fathers any way you slice it. I think Ann Romney totally missed the point, however, by choosing to lecture American voters on the true meaning of Love and how that strategically qualifies her spouse to be President. I was not surprised when Chris Christie the keynote speaker took the podium to immediately contradict Ann Romney who is already measuring the drapes in the White House in preparation for her husband taking over as President. Her hope is going to be a dog dream at best because there is no vacancy for first lady in the White House because Michelle and Barack are going to be re-elected in November by a comfortable margin. You can quote me on that.

Where I think God Almighty comes into this equation is how easily the two major speakers speaking back to back on that same podium have literarily contradicted themselves. Chris Christie in his pompous and abrasive style devoted much of his speech to making what I call a down payment for his entering the race in 2016 assuming he is not disqualified by his sheer size and obesity and by centralist like Jeb Bush and moderate conservatives like him. The New Jersey Governor clearly showed to his audience and the whole nation on prime time that he was clearly different from Mitt Romney by not running away from his record as Governor to appease his Republican base. He then delivered the coup de grace when he quietly told the aspiring first lady the main issue at stake in this election is not love but the ability for a Republican nominee to roll up his sleeves and to say “No, enough is enough”

The notion of Republicans wanting your votes but telling you at the same time you cannot join their team as wisely pointed out by Jeb Bush, is really not a winning strategy in a melting pot that America has become today. I totally concur on that. While I believe that God has already given the edge to Obama and the Democrats in this election is precisely because Republicans cannot find a candidate like Jeb Bush to be the one running against Obama for very strategic reasons. If you don’t call that “God at work” I don’t know what else to call it. You don’t go to a World Cup Soccer match with your “Second Eleven” if you hope to win. You go there with your “First Eleven” In picking Romney as their flag bearer in this election, Republicans have done just that and don’t be surprised if they lose big in November. The addition of a Paul Ryan to the mix might fire up the conservative base and draw a few independents but that is clearly not enough to change the outcome of the elections is what I am predicting.

The Republican Convention has more or less become a tower of Babel. It was not a development the Republicans have intended or planned for this election but that is what it has come to because God is not on their side.

Was it just a sheer accident that the Republicans were thrown into confusion and having to make the best out of a bad situation due to the force of nature which is controlled by no one else but God Himself. The weather forecasters did their best to advise Republicans on what time in August to hold their Convention but they could not correctly predict what God or Nature would do. They were forced to condense their 4 day Jamboree or parade into 3 days forcing them to make adjustments which completely overshadow their central message. Many more Republicans who would have been there did not leave home because of the fear of Isaac, the Hurricane.

The Katrina situation in New Orleans which happened under a Republican President is not something that Republicans had wanted the whole nation to be reminded again in their Convention and 2 months to the general election but it happened anyway and I totally attributed that to “God raining on the Republican Parade” to prove a point. When God says yes, who can say no! God is telling Republicans to leave Obama alone. The anointed of God already has his election victory in the bag. It is “kicking against the goad” for Republicans to think the duo of Romney and Ryan can beat the combination of Obama and Biden in this election.

I can assure you that Mitt Romney is not going to change in one big speech a notoriety and a persona he has built for 64 years. Not when the expectation from his audience and the whole nation is so high. That is not going to happen. Republicans could whitewash him as much as they want I can tell you that Romney is always going to be Romney. A pig with a lip stick is still a pig. The Republicans always forget one point in trying to match Romney with Obama in this election year. It is one mission impossible. Obama is about the same age with Romney’s eldest son. The generational gap is very striking. The two candidates don’t belong to the same generation at all. Obama did not emerge as the first black President of the great Harvard Review Magazine of the greatest University the world has known by being a pushover.

Mitt Romney attended the same University but does not have Obama’s "gravitas", intelligence and oratorical gift. I agree that Romney is as smart and ruthless as they come in Business, but that quality does not a good President make if you see what I see. I cannot wait to see the two men debate themselves. God has been so kind to Obama this time that we don’t have a wild cat candidate like Ross Perot to take away some of the critical independent votes like the 19% Ross Perot got when Bill Clinton ran against George Bush the first. Bush could possibly have won that election if Mr. Perot had not run and Bill could possibly have won by a greater margin than he did. What is going to happen in this election is a foregone conclusion.

I would not end this piece without thanking God for America that John McCain did not win in 2008. The position poor McCain was canvassing in his prime time speech to the Convention would have been a recipe for total disaster for America because John Mccain wanted America involved in every major war around the world because America must continue to lead from the front and not from behind, a derogatory comment meant to ridicule Obama when he wisely suggested the countries of Europe must take the lead in taking out Moammar Ghadafi which turned out to be the correct decision by the way. President Anwar Sadat of Egypt pretty much tried the same formula when he for once refused to have Egypt carrying the burden for all of the Arab World in their determined effort to defeat the tiny State of Israel. He signed the Camp David Accord with Prime Minister Menahem Begin in large part because of that conviction and because Egypt chose to lead from behind and it has paid of big time. British War time Prime Minister Winston Churchill did pretty much the same thing when he swallowed British pride to join hands with FDR in particular and the other allies because he instinctively knew that Britain alone could not by herself defeat Adolf Hitler. There is nothing wrong with America leading from behind as defined by Barack Obama. What is important is to get job done without putting millions of American lives in danger like happened in the Second World War, Vietnam and other wars in which America has been involved. Obama is doing exactly the right thing by taking that position. God is decidedly on his side today and America has remained the leading nation in the world and still the cynosure of all eyes till tomorrow contrary to the false conclusion Republicans have drawn this week in their Convention to rubbish the President’s record in office which is as good as that of any good President in American history.

I cannot by myself describe the love that God has for America and for the first black President in America History. I have likened that love to the love that inspired my favorite music idol James Ingram when he composed his greatest love song of all times from my own perception. I can imagine God repeatedly singing that song for his anointed son, Barack Obama who has finally shattered that glass ceiling for generations of Americans yet unborn by becoming the first black President and a hybrid of black and white in a mystery that only God Himself can explain.

No need to say goodbye
I see you again tomorrow
No matter how life turns around
I would always be there.

I rest my case.
