This essay tries to educate Igbo Internet warriors who do not understand Igbo culture but pretend to do so; specifically, those who do not understand what the name Osuji means. Throughout much of human history there is no instance where a person persuaded deluded persons to give up their delusional beliefs. Delusion is desire to change reality and make it as one wants it to be. If something is black and a deluded person wants it to be white he would simply say so and ask you to accept his psychotic interpretation of reality and if you refuse to go along with him he feels angry at you and calls you a string of god awful names. I have tried my best to ask these deluded persons to give up their delusional wishes and failed. I will stop trying to make the insane sane. I have nothing to gain from this matter except that it pains me when I see them attacked by those their delusional behaviors lead to retaliate with attacks on them. Like Pontius Pilate I wash my hands off these crazy people and leave them to their unenviable fate: crucifixion by their neighbors. I don’t enjoy always having to correct fools and must from now desist on from doing so.
Igbo Internet Warriors Are Not Authentic Igbos!
Ozodi Osuji
The other day, I had a private mail from an Igbo chap living somewhere in Michigan. He wrote to tell me that he read where some Igbos called me osu and said that his last name is Osuji and some Igbos call him osu when he disagrees with them. He wondered how Igbos could be so benighted as to not know what the name Osuji means?
I am used to been called all kinds of negative names by Igbo twits and it does not bother me but what this young fellow said got me thinking about his issue. As I cogitated on this matter it dawned on me that these folks who claim to be fighting on behalf of Igbos actually are not Igbos, or if they are nominally Igbos do not know a damn thing about Igbo culture! These folks are literally ignoramuses of Igbo culture and yet they claim to be the champions of that culture. It would seem that if they are going to fight on behalf of Igbos that the least they could do is understand Igbo culture!
Regarding the name Osuji if these imbeciles had any kind of intelligence in their block heads they would wonder why someone would be called a name with the prefix osu in it if he is an osu? Would a slave name himself slave? And if other people named him so would he not disown that name to hide his slave identity?
Intelligence is not the coin that Igbo Internet warriors use. Therefore, let me take a few minutes to educate these fools on what the name Osuji, Njoku and Osuchukwu means.
These names are found mainly in Owerri Igbos. By Owerri Igbos I include folks from Owerri, Ngwa, Aba, Orlu, Okigwe, Mbaise, Mbano etc.; those areas are Igbo heartland. People in that area are the authentic Igbos; as opposed to those Igbos who border non-Igbos hence have cultures that are contaminated by those they border.
In Owerri there is a belief that some persons are spiritually advanced and when they die they reincarnate to do spiritual work (compare to Buddhist notion of Buddhavesta or Hindu notion of avatar or Brahmin class).
When a child is born Igbo parents consult Dibias (psychics) about who the child was in a previous life time and what he came to do during this life time. Dibias tell them who that child was in a previous lifetime and what he came to do in this life time.
In some cases the parents are told that their child is spiritually advanced and came to this world to serve God. They are told to name such a child Osuji or Njoku or Osuchukwu. Children so named automatically become trained in spiritual matters and often are the people’s spiritual guides. These children are almost always from the best of Igbo society and are never from the osu class; in fact, they are generally from the children of ogaranya, rich folks.
My kindred, Umuamadioha have for hundreds, if not thousands of years, produced the high priests of Amadioha; they are the people’s spiritual leaders. In the kindred those children considered extraordinarily spiritual are named Osuji or Njoku or Osuchukwu. Such a child is dedicated to serving God, pretty much as the Jews dedicated certain children to serving God, such as the Levites, beginning with Samuel.
Osuji, Njoku, Osuchukwu are not names given to slaves (osus); they are names given to the best of the Igbo Diala (free born).
My kindred are the first of the Dialas; in our tradition you do not do anything unless a member of my family blesses it.
As an aside, Lugard’s warrant chief of Owerri is an Osuji (Njemanze). One wonders if the people make a slave their Chief!
Who exactly did osus serve? I hate to break it down to foolish Igbos but will. Here are the facts. In traditional Igbo land if a man did something wrong and the people were after his life he could run to the temple of Amadioha or any other Igbo god and seek refuge there and the people would not pursue him into the temple. (Christians had a similar practice; if a culprit ran into a church Christian folks would not go in there to drag him out and punish him). Such a person thereafter becomes an osu. He is used by the high priest to do his farm work.
Another manner of acquiring osu is through inter-village wars. Some of those captured at wars were given the option of being sold into slavery to the White men or living as osus. If they choose to be osu they take their position in high priests families as their slaves.
The osus in Owerri were used by high priests to do their farm work. Technically, however, osus belong to the gods but in the real world they belong to high priests.
(A sordid aspect of this matter is that until the intervention of the white man in the early twentieth century, when Igbo Ogaranya, important folks died many life slaves were buried along with them! If you consider this practice awful, as I do, would you not say that the white man civilized Africa, at least, this aspect of it? Hindus used to burn life widows in their dead husbands’ funeral pyre; suttee it was called and the British stopped that dreadful practice. So, did the British do third folk some good or were they all bad? Thanks to what misguided Igbo folks derisively call “Lugard’s cage” some of those people would today be osus!)
In addition to the category osu is another set of Igbo slaves called ohu. In Alaigbo if a man is poor he could indenture his self to a person who has money for a period of time and in effect become his servant (do his farm work for him). In this case he is called ohu, not osu, for he is a slave to a mere human being, not a slave to the gods.
An ohu works for his master and when he has paid off what he owes him he becomes free and is free to return to his village. Some ohus choose not to return to their villages and stay with their masters. Their children are generally integrated into their masters families (you can, however, tell that they are not members of the family lineage because generally they look different; they have different genetic make ups).
The British abolished osu but did not abolish ohu. Until recently poor Igbos were still indenturing themselves to other families as ohus.
For example, when slavery was abolished in Owerri area we gave the osus separate villages but the ohus kept on living with their masters (who gave them land to farm).
In my town, Umuohiagu, the village for osu is called Amuga (their women somehow are unusually pretty but, unfortunately, no diala is allowed to marry them; what a pity; given my defiant nature if I lived in Nigeria I probably would have deliberately defied tradition and married an osu woman, just as I defied white racism and married a white woman!).
And here is an issue that drives me up the wall. I ask: are the Igbos who call folks osu proud that their people had slaves? They must be proud of it to call people osu, don’t you think so? Obviously, they call folks osu in an infantile effort to put those persons down, to say that they are outcast; so, are they proud that they had outcasts? If so does that not make them savages?
If they were not proud of it they would hide the fact that they had osu in their world. These people are shameless primitives; they do not know when they are insulting themselves (they think that they are insulting you by calling you osu but in fact they are insulting themselves for being primitives who had osu).
This is akin to what these mentally underdeveloped and emotionally arrested fools do in America; they call black Americans Ndi Akata, people who fight, and look down on them; they even call them slaves, Ndi Osu and avoid them (Ghanaians who are more civilized than Igbos embrace black Americans and make them feel at home in Ghana).
Well, I got news for these ignorant Igbo fools. Most slaves in the United States are from Nigeria, many of whom were Igbos. The British who settled in the United States preferred Igbo slaves, for they deemed them hard working fools (since the Igbo is driven by desire for high social status, give him seeming social status, such as call him a hardworking man and he would not mind his slave status and work hard for you...Igbos are easily manipulated if you have an eye to doing so but do not know it!). It is estimated that well over 80% of blacks in Virginia and Maryland were of Igbo heritage. Now, you go figure!
During slave times (1500-1900 AD) Aro Igbos and their Abam mercenaries, head hunters, really, roamed all over Alaigbo, capturing and selling their fellow Igbos to the white man and were proud of their savage behavior.
Currently, these conscienceless savages are kidnapping Igbos and holding them hostage for monetary ransom; they have reverted to doing what their savage ancestors did.
Please note that no Owerri person, no real Igbo kidnaps other Igbos for money ransom just as we did not sell our fellow Igbos during slavery time; the false Igbos in our midst always give us bad names, black eyes. It is now time we punished these savages in our midst (or sent them back to wherever they came from; they are not real Igbos; real Igbos love their fellow human beings and do not kidnap them and sell them into slavery or hold them for monetary ransom).
Brazil and Latin America in general had many Yoruba slaves; indeed, to the present a large portion of Brazilian blacks still speak Yoruba; a large portion of Cuban blacks still speak Yoruba; a large portion of blacks in Central America still speak Yoruba!
The point is that since most black American slaves were Nigerians, Igbos included, if you look down on them you have looked down on your people!
Igbos who look down on black Americans are idiots. They are doing what they do in Nigeria, look down on other Nigerians and in their delusion disorder imagine that such action makes them a superior people.
Igbos average intelligence, as measured on standard IQ tests, such as WAIS, WISC and Stanford Binet is exactly the same as those of Hausas, Yorubas and other Nigerians. Therefore, Igbos are talking rubbish when they fancy themselves superior to other Nigerians.
No wonder their neighbors now call them Mumu, fools! They do not deal with facts but want to change facts to suit their delusional wishes.
Delusion disorder is an effort to change (the) reality (of our human sameness and equality) and make it different from what it is (make it seem that one and ones people are superior to other people).
Deluded Igbos are not comfortable with reality and want to change it and make it seem that they, Igbos are superior to other people when in fact we are all the same and coequal.
Mad men have a difficult time accepting reality and keep wanting to change it; rational, realistic and mature persons accept reality as it is, the fact of our sameness and equality and respect all people, all Nigerians.
One of the reasons I automatically dismiss the ranting of non-Owerri Igbos is because I know that they do not understand Igbo culture. This is because their variation of Igbo is contaminated by non-Igbos. For example, genuine Igbos “ama gi eze”; do not have kings, but Onitsha pseudo Igbos have kings due to their Edo heritage; and these Edo folks want to rule real Igbos, what travesty!
Onitsha folk claim Edo origin (they should pack up and return to Benin right away); in the case of Enugu folk there is evidence of their contamination by their Igala neighbors; in the case of Umuahia, Bende, Ohafia area contamination by the Efik; Ikwerre is heavily contaminated by Ijaw folks.
Owerri folk are the real Igbos and do not want pseudo Igbos to speak for us. When it comes to matters Igbo non-Owerri folk should shut up for they do not know what they are talking about.
For example, one non-Owerri chap who pretends to be an Igbo historian, on these forums talks about Nri being the spiritual leaders of Igbo. That propagandist ought to go talk to Owerri folks to find out about their spiritual leaders. Apparently, the man thinks that everything is based on propaganda and if he tells a big lie long enough that he would convince all Igbo that Nri is their spiritual leaders.
Propaganda may be accepted for a while but in the long run is discarded; go ask Joseph Goebbels of Nazi Germany if his efforts to tell us that Germans are superior persons are now accepted by any one.
Nri is not Owerri folk’s spiritual leaders and if the pseudo Igbo historian cannot deal with that reality he is free to jump into a river and drawn his life.
In conclusion, I hope that this short piece educates ignorant Igbos who talk about subjects like osu that they know nothing about. It should also be noted that these days most Igbos are Christians and have jettisoned their traditions. Since Igbos, by and large, no longer believe in their God: Chi-ukwu, Ch-neke and Chi and the functional gods of Amadioha and Ala, they no longer give their children names that refer to functions performed for Igbo gods. Thus, seldom are Igbo children these days called Osuji or Njoku or Osuchukwu; those names now exist as surnames only.

*This write up is an expanded response to a chap who wrote to say that some ignorant Igbos did not understand what his last name, Osuji, means. I am sick and tired of always trying to educate Igbos and prevent them from walking paths that would bring them harm. I am really no longer interested in performing this unpaid and distasteful function for ungrateful Igbos. However, my mind cannot over look Igbos foolishness without wanting to correct them. No one wants to be on the wrong side of his people and I certainly do not want to be perceived as an enemy of Igbos by always saying what seems to put them in bad light. I must discipline myself to ignore these people’s unrealistic behaviors and let them take the consequences of putting their hands in fire.
Nigeria is a developing country; its social scientists should not take refuge in the Ivory Tower and not participate in the governing of the country. Nigerian social scientists, building on their understanding of the influence of society on the people, ought to be making public policy recommendations to their governments.
Public Policy Oriented Social Science In Developing Countries

SOCIAL SCIENCE
We can define social science as the scientific field that studies how the working of society affects the individual human being. Society and its culture appear to influence the individual’s behavior.
Sociologists, beginning with August Comte, Emil Durkheim, Herbert Spenser, Karl Marx, Max Weber, Karl Mannheim, Talcott Parsons, W.E.B. Dubois, C. Wright Mill etc. have demonstrated that the individual seems hugely influenced by the society and culture he lives in.
Similarly, the biological sciences demonstrate that the individual seem a product of his inherited biological constitution.
We can then safely say that biosocial (biological and sociological) factors are the main factors affecting the individual’s behaviors (and his personal psychology, his personality). This is a scientific conclusion because it can be studied, observed and verified (and if not discarded).
THE DISLOCATIONS OF MODERNIZING SOCIETIES
Social science has demonstrated that societies going through rapid change, from traditional society to modern society, from agrarian to industrial society go through severe dislocations.
Nigeria is one such society. People who hitherto lived in traditional villages are moving to urban areas. Their work relationships are changing from the communal mutual help of farming societies to the impersonal social relationships in the capitalist economy.
In capitalist work settings the individual is a means of production. He is useful to the extent that the labor he has to sell is useful to those seeking to buy labor, employers. If you have what the manufacturer of cars needs to manufacture his cars (say, mechanical engineering degree) he hires you, but if not you are not important to his productive activities and he does not hire you.
People in capitalist economies are only useful if they have the skill sets that employer’s desire. Even if they have the required skills of today, tomorrow if different skill sets are needed by producers they are discarded as garbage. For example, a few years ago to have a degree in computer science guaranteed a college graduate high paying employment. Employers came to college campuses recruiting seniors in computer science. Today, a degree in computer science while still useful does not guarantee immediate employment.
Today, medical doctor degrees and nursing certificates guarantee those possessing them immediate employment, for hospitals are looking for medical doctors and nurses. Human beings are prone to sickness and seek medical treatment; therefore, the chances are that medical doctors and nurses will be demanded by sick people. Nevertheless, if there is an oversupply of medical doctors and nurses there would be less demand for their services and they would find it difficult to obtain jobs and if they did obtain jobs their pay would not be as astronomical as it is today. (The medical establishment realizing that too many medical doctors and nurses would degrade the income of medical doctors and nurses apparently restrict entry to medical schools so as to reduce the supply of medical doctors and nurses and thus guarantee medical health professionals good income.)
In sum, in capitalist societies it is your skills, not your person that matters to the employer. This kind of relationship is not what folks are used to in traditional African societies.
CLASS FORMATION IN EMERGENT CAPITALIST URBAN AFRICA
In the emerging urban centers of Nigeria class formations is beginning to take shape. For example, until the twentieth century most Igbo people were, more or less, of the same class; they were agriculturalists farming with primitive farm instruments and were generally equal in social status. These days, on the other hand, Igbos are streaming into urban areas. In these urban areas folks are employed based on their different skill sets. Some persons possess highly demanded hence well paid skills and others don’t; thus, class differentiation is emerging. Urban Igbos are now separated from the laborer selling his muscles to whoever needs muscle work from the medical doctor being paid good wages for his medical services.
Moreover, in Urban Nigeria there are the beginnings of the bourgeoisie, the owners of capital who employ labor for productive purposes; these folks are usually rich. Thus, there is beginning to form the rich and the poor classes in Nigeria’s urban centers. This type of social stratification and attendant class conflicts is not what Igbos knew in their traditional villages.
ANOMIE
In modern urban areas generally people could care less for the person they see on the street. Indeed, you could go to an apartment block and most of the people living there would not even know who their next door neighbor is. You could go down the street and most people living on that street do not know who lives on their street and even if they knew they have no social interaction with them for they may belong to different skill sets hence different class.
In large urban centers people come from different ethnic groups (and sometimes, races) and therefore have different cultural backgrounds.
Culture differentiates people. You relate well to those from your cultural community and poorly to those from different cultures. Indeed, you may not even want to relate to people from different cultures. Therefore, people from different cultural backgrounds living in the same urban areas do not interact much.
The cumulative effects of these realities of urban living are that most people living in urban areas are separated from their neighbors. They experience what the sociologist Durkheim called anomie; that is, they feel extreme sense of aloneness and disconnection from other human beings.
Since African folks hitherto lived in communal settings this type of social disconnectedness is often a jarring experience for them. They feel lost. They experience psychological pain.
Whereas no one has done serious epidemiological studies of the incidence of mental disorders in Nigeria, my interaction with Nigerians in America shows that most of them have treatable mental disorders but do not know it! They do not know it because their conception of mental illness is schizophrenia, disorganized type.
Schizophrenia (which occurs in late teenage years) exists in less than a fraction of one percent of the population. Once the young seventeen to twenty something year old person experiences schizophrenia (psychotic decompensation) he tends to drop out of productive society and live on the margins of society; in Africa he roams the streets eating from garbage. Schizophrenics are usually not part of working urban society.
There are hundreds of other mental disorders and people with them have paying jobs. Many Nigerians have these. (See the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of the American Psychiatric Association, 2013, for listing of hundreds of mental disorders.)
SELF DESTRUCTIVE COPING MECHANISMS
Living in the emerging urban centers of Africa is very traumatic and stressful. When stress becomes intolerable folks seek amelioration of it. Some find temporary solution in alcohol and drugs, others resort to over eating and or frequent sexual activity.
Nigerians often use sex to procure reduction of stress and since they engage in sex with casual partners contract sexually transmitted diseases, including Gonorrhea, Syphilis, Herpes and, of course, the deadliest of them all, HIV AIDS; these people are killing themselves through sexually transmitted diseases, over eating and alcoholism at an amazing rate!
Let me recap: capitalist societies and modern urban societies brutalize people. This means that people coming from rural areas to Nigeria’s urban areas are brutalized, they are psychologically traumatized. Urban Nigerians are living under tremendous psychological pain and are seeking solace in their own individual ways (in addiction to alcohol, drugs, over eating, sex and primitive Pentecostal religions).
THE EUROPEAN AND NORTH AMERICAN EXPERIENCE
Much of what contemporary urban Africans are going through seem inevitable. When Europeans and North Americans left their villages in the nineteenth century and flocked to the urban centers that emerged around the factories that the industrial revolution had spurn they, too, had the problems we are now witnessing in urban Africa.
The problems we see in contemporary urban Africa are attendant to the beast called capitalism. Since no one has figured out a better alternative to capitalism we simply have to live with these problems and seek ways to ameliorate them.
Socialism, communism, fascism etc. appear worse medicine for the sickness. Winston Churchill observed that democracy (replace with capitalism) is the worst form of government except that the alternatives to it are worse!
Experience in Western societies show that they did not reduce the pain their people felt as they transited from rural to urban living during the period that Karl Marx (Das Capital) called primitive capital accumulation but during the post-industrial era, beginning in the 1930s. Americans call this era of modified capitalism New Deal Economics; it was initiated by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt; In Great Britain the labor government of Ramsey Macdonald, building on the findings of John Maynard Keynes, injected healthy doses of social welfarism into British capitalism. Other European states did the same (and in the process ameliorated the impact of capitalism’s cycles of boom and bursts).
AFRICANS LACK INTEREST IN HELPINGTHEIR PEOPLE
Based on the Western experience, there are certain things that Nigeria can do to ameliorate the tremendous pain of incipient capitalist economy in the country.
So, what public policies are Nigerian social scientists (economists, political scientists, sociologists, anthropologist and psychologists) recommending to their governments to reduce the pain their people are living in?
Perhaps, as usual, Nigerians, Africans leave their people to fend for their selves, leave it to each individual to do what he has to do to survive or die. Africans leave their people to swim or drawn but apparently do not feel motivated to help their people to do what needs to be done to survive.
In North American urban areas, in the sections where black folks live, ghettos, folks do what they have to do to survive or sink into the black holes that are ghetto America. Black kids barely learn how to read or write before they drop out of schools. Generally, black American children are abandoned by their fathers (more than 70% of black kids in America are raised by their mothers and may not know who their fathers are!).
Fatherless, these children seek alternative families by joining street criminal gangs. Gang members kill each other at alarming rate. Young black kids in South Chicago, Illinois kill leach other almost at the same rate as young people kill each other at typical battlefronts. Since they are black kids the white American mainstream media ignore their death. Niggers’ death is of no relevance seems to be the idea.
These poor kids lacking job skills to make it in the complex technological society called America seek alternative ways to make a living. Some sell drugs to make a living; the girls sell their disease ridden vaginas in prostitution. A few make it in the world of entertainment (music and sports).
Young black men get black girls pregnant and abandon them (and those go on public welfare). Black America is a mess; black men simply do not organize to help their young people in North America.
The bystander in chief black president of America, Barack Obama, has done nothing, repeat, nothing to help his fellow blacks in the ghettos of North America. Indeed, he refused to hire more than one black man in his cabinet, Eric Holder, who, like him, has foreign parents. Even racist Republican presidents usually had, at least, two black persons in their cabinets! Apparently, in Obama’s view he is the only qualified black man in the land despite his mediocre performance at the schools he attended and virtual lack of managerial experience before becoming the president. Apparently, this astonishing black man believes that only white folks are qualified to serve in his administration!
And that is not all; Obama has not added a penny to the level of aid that a white man, George Bush spent on Africa! Under Obama’s administration African issues take back seat; Africa is not even mentioned in his administration. The bloodbath in the Congo is seldom reported in the American media while we hear a lot about 80, 000 Syrians (white folks) murdered by their President (Assad) and his goons.
The philosophy of black folk seems to be: I got mine, you go get yours; black folks do not seem to care for the collective black folk.
In urban Nigeria and Africa people individually seek survival and some survive but the majority live like animals in the slums of these urban centers.
Is this really all that the black man can do? Can the black man do better than sell his people into slavery to Arabs and white men? Must the black man always ignore his people’s misery?
Are black folks really a cursed people, as racist whites say that they are? The jury is still out on this subject; we are yet to see a change of behavior in the part of Africans.
SOME PUBLIC POLICY RECOMMENDATIONS
If I were a Nigerian social scientist I would recommend that the various Nigerian governments fund education for all Nigerian children, from kindergarten to University. That is correct: the government should pay for every Nigerian child to go to preschool, elementary school, secondary school and for those with the abilities to go to universities (experience shows that about a third of the people have the intelligence to go to universities, so 33% of all secondary school graduates ought to go to universities whereas the others are sent to publicly paid vocational colleges where they learn trades to become mechanics, electricians, bricklayers, carpenters, machinists etc.). I further recommend that all Nigerians be provided with publicly paid health insurance. Finally, I recommend that Nigeria embark on serious industrialization policy that would in a few decades industrialize Nigeria.
DISCUSSION
I am not into the business of speaking deceptively; I speak what is in my mind; therefore, I will give it to you straight. My perception of the black man is that he is totally self-centered.
To be self-centered is what is meant by evil; therefore, the self-centered black man is an evil person. He may deny this fact all he wants but the fact is that his actions show that he is evil. For hundreds of years he roamed around Africa capturing and selling his people to Arabs, white men and to whomever else wanted to buy them. If the white man today wanted to buy Africans Nigerians would gladly start selling their people to him.
There is nothing in Africans history that shows heroism; nothing in African history shows Africans sacrificing for their people.
The occupiers of the various governments in Nigeria: federal, state and local, apparently, do not believe that it is their function to care for their people. It seems that they seek public offices to be seen as very important persons, VIPs but not to serve their people’s needs.
President Jonathan jets around the world in a presidential plane and that costs Nigeria millions of dollars annually while each of his countrymen live on a dollar a day. He does not feel guilty from this anomaly; that is to say that he does not have social conscience and is essentially criminal in his thinking.
Apparently, the people in Nigeria’s governments do not plan to develop the country and provide jobs for Nigerians. Over fifty percent of young Nigerians are not gainfully employed. But this is not the headache of the leaders of the country. Young people go to Nigeria’s poorly equipped schools and upon graduation do not secure jobs and the leaders of the criminal empire do not care.
If a twenty something year old is unemployed, and his elders do not care for his welfare, could anyone tell me one reason why he should respect their lives? He is probably justified in reverting to the mode of life in the jungle! Kidnapping his well to do people for money ransom or even killing them, as is now rife in Nigeria, is part of that jungle life style.
If I heard that Nigerian leaders are kidnapped and or killed by armed robbers I would say serves them right.
The lack of interest in serving public good I see in Nigerians, Africans, black people make me want to throw up; in fact, it sometimes makes me wonder if they are human beings at all?
In my judgment, a human being is different from animals because he does not live for his good only; he serves his neighbor’s needs. If you do not care for the public you are an animal and, as such, I could care less what happens to you.
I say, take Nigerian leaders to the garbage dump and shoot them and dump their useless bodies there. If these people do not care for their people’s suffering they are not human beings and someone ought to get rid of them.
As I see them, Africans are takers, not givers; they are always looking for opportunity to get but not to give, to receive but not to serve. Consider, a few months ago a visiting Nigerian woman asked me to take her to my church; I did. She looked around and said that the mostly white folk’s church looks affluent. She then asked me to introduce her to some church members so that she would ask them to help her out financially. I responded thus: members of this church volunteer to do the work that keeps it as you see it, good looking; women come in on weekends to clean the place up, the men do the yard work that keeps the place good looking. I then suggested that she should go to the priest and ask him how she can volunteer to do some social service work at the Church instead of looking for what the members of the church could do for her. Of course, that was the last time she asked me to take her to my church!
She is a typical Nigerian, a taker, not a giver. We must figure out a way to transform Nigerians, Africans and black folk from takers to givers.
These days, having messed up their country, big time, some members of Nigeria’s elite run to North America or Europe to go live and enjoy the well maintained facilities in there. There, they embark on being takers and seldom lift a finger to serve the interests of the countries they now live in. Wherever they go to they take but do not give, they do not serve. Worse, some of them engage in scamming the people who had given them economic refuge!
If such behaviors continue one would not be surprised if the Western world stops Nigerians from immigrating to their countries! Countries need givers not takers, for if most people are takers society breaks down, as it has broken down in the “takers heaven” called Nigeria.
Finally, we must figure out a way to stop black folk from always blaming white folks and other people for their fallen house. These people mess up their countries royally and seek scapegoats to blame for their mismanagement of their countries.
(I generally do not listen to them when they bitch and moan about what white people did to them; I remind them about what they are doing to their selves by not caring for each other.)
It seems that in Nigeria social scientists and other academics just want to be called professor; apparently, being called professor is enough for their sense of importance. Titles do not make a man important; it is what a man contributes to society’s good that makes him important. Since social scientists and other academics are more educated than the average Nigerian, I believe that they must put their education to practical use by participating in the formulation and implementation of public policies in Nigeria. This is particularly needed for often the politicians ruling Nigeria are poorly educated and do not know what to do in regards to governance; their goal for seeking public offices is often to steal from the public treasury and become “rich very important persons”.
CONCLUSION
Failure to figure out a way to serve Nigerians needs, doing business as usual, which is to abandon Nigerians to each shifting and fending for his self, would lead to the total breakdown of law and order in Nigeria.
We have already seen the beginning of that breakdown in some parts of Nigeria; there, disaffected youth who feel like their elders do not care for them now kidnap people and hold them hostage until money ransom is paid to them before they released them. This situation, all things being constant, will probably progress to where criminals kill those they perceive as the rich.
Nigeria is heading towards Somalia like total anarchy and chaos. This is what happens in a country where the people do not feel it their concern that their neighbors lived or died.
The average Nigeria subsists on one dollar per day and the clueless boy occupying Aso Rock fancying himself in the ranks of the American President junkets to all over the world in private jets (why not take commercial flights?).
I often wonder whether this sort thing happens to black folks because of their alleged laziness. What exactly is responsible for Africans inability to take actions to forestall bad things from happening to their people? What really is responsible for Africans not doing the right things for their people? Must Africans always live like animals?
If I was a social scientist in Nigeria I would set up think tanks to study what needs to be done in Nigeria and use the results of such studies to advise the folks in government in Nigeria. I would not give up on Nigeria; I would do whatever I could to see if the Nigerian government could so something to improve Nigerians lot.
Perhaps, Nigerians and Africans can actually have a change of mind and for once in their seeming cursed history do the right thing for their people?
Africans current self-centeredness could be due to their disease ridden bodies; the sickly concentrate on their needs for survival and seldom think about other people’s survival needs. This means that when Africans are well fed and obtain relative good health they would be able to transcend their egos and think in sociocentric terms. Perhaps, in about a hundred years well fed middle class Africans would become sociocentric instead of egocentric. This means that there is hope for Africans?

Igbos are always looking into your personal life and if they see what to them seem like weak points in it they immediately pounce on them, exploit them and use them to try blackmailing you and or bringing you down. They never struggle to build people up but always want to bring people down.
They harp on what to them seems your negative side and hope that in doing so they would persuade you to embrace their deluded goals or else they take you down.
They talk boldly about you as if they know that what they are talking about is the truth when, in fact, what they are talking about are all made up lies by their fertile imaginations.
They have spread so much lies about me that one often wonders how human beings could sit around making up lies about their fellow human beings and writing about those lies as if they are true! Very few of them actually know who I am in person (I stay away from them as rational persons stay away from plagues) and therefore they are not in a position to write truthfully about me yet they pontificate about me (they even talk about my parents as if they know who they are) and in their deluded minds apparently believe that they are correctly representing who I am!
They do this sort of thing to whoever does not agree with their delusion of superiority. If you dared criticize them and ask them to accept our equality they see you as their enemy, hate you and do whatever they could to bring you down. If you are savvy you ignore their campaign of hate and leave them to swim in their gutter.
I keep saying what I know is the truth and leave these folks to continue their ceaseless campaign of hatred against me; it is water off my skin. I am not deterred by the shenanigans of unscrupulous persons; this is especially so because I know that they are out for personal gain but seem incapable of sacrificing for the collectivity.
They are deluded persons who want you to collude with them and tell them what they want to hear, that they are superior to their neighbors and if you refuse to do so they embark on ceaseless campaign of trying to destroy you.
This is insanity insisting on making the entire world insane. One ought to laugh at their madness and simply ignore them and continue doing the right thing, which is stressing our human equality.
It must be stated that even the best therapists have not gotten one of their deluded clients to give up their delusion of superiority, so one has no illusion of healing these deluded Igbos.
Deluded persons like their fictional sense of superiority to other persons and to give it up makes them feel inferior (actually, when it is given up one feels equal to all people hence peaceful and happy).
I must keep on stressing the reality of people’s inherent sameness and equality regardless of whether deluded persons who desire superiority to people listen or not.
YOU CAN UNDERSTAND PEOPLE BUT YOU CANNOT CHANGE THEM; NOR IS IT YOUR DUTY TO CHANGE PEOPLE
In childhood I rejected real people because they are imperfect and wanted to change them into ideal, perfect people.
In adulthood, I necessarily learned that I could not change people and make them perfect, for perfection is in the mind and not in the world of space, time and matter.
The physical and social environment makes people imperfect. A realistic, mature person must accept that human beings are always imperfect and deal with people as they are, imperfect. It is pursuit of impossible idealism that disposes idealists like me to seek to make people over to perfection.
You cannot change people and make them perfect and ideal as your mind conceives perfection and ideals to be.
With effort you can understand yourself and people but you cannot change them. Accept and live with that reality; it is not for you to change people and make them perfect; even God allows people to live imperfect lives so you must allow people to live their imperfect lives without the desire to change and make them perfect beings.
LESSON FROM OBSERVING IGBOS
I learned this crucial lesson when for seven years I tried to point out what is wrong with Igbos and showed how to change and improve Igbos. I did not get one Igbo person to change his behavior. These people want to seem superior to their neighbors and do not want to give up that delusion of superiority; a delusion that masks their existential nothingness tolerable to them (this type of behavior is found in primitive savages but not in civilized persons; civilized persons accept our sameness and equality; in their primitive psychological state Igbos kind of think that it is possible for one human being to be superior to others or for one group of human being to superior to others...Adolf Hitler and his Germans had similar primitive thinking processes and that led them to fancy themselves superior to other people and they killed millions of people in pursuit of that madness).
If you asked Igbos to give up their delusion of superiority they see you as humiliating and degrading them, and they feel angry at you. Instead of listening to you, like paranoid persons they try to understand your motives from the standpoint of their paranoid ideation (desire for importance) and, of course, project false motives to you.
They speculate on why you do what you do and take their conjectures as the truth of who you are and behave towards you as such.
These people are paranoid characters per excellence. I give up on them. Currently, I do not make any efforts to correct them, nor do I really care if they went to hell in a hand basket.
It is not for me to change Igbos or change any human being. My sole responsibility is to understand the human personality and share information on that subject and leave it to folk’s to-do with it what they want.
It is all I can do trying to transform my life, from my known deficits to their opposites, strength (if I mentioned my deficits the roguish Igbos who never want to change, who want to see themselves as perfect even as the rest of the world see them as unprincipled, opportunists would say, see, we told you, he, Ozodi has problems and they would harp on my problems making it seem like they have no problems when even a child can see that most of them are paranoid).
I did not tell folks that I or any human being could ever be perfect; what it means to be a human being is to be imperfect and struggle to attain some measure of perfection but not total perfection. I do not pretend to be perfect as deluded Igbos pretend to be.
These people are masters of self-deception. Whenever they see something in them that they do not like to be there, they deny it and project it out. They see themselves as wackos, deny it and project it to other people and call them wackos (paranoid persons see in other persons what is in them and refuse to be analyzed; mental health professionals must be analyzed so as to understand themselves and not project what is in them to other persons).
Recently, one of them, a smooth sociopath stole $1.5 million dollars from the Nigerian embassy at Washington DC and a US district court found him guilty and asked him to return that money to the people of Nigeria. But instead of his Igbo compatriots calling him a thief, as he obviously is, they rallied around him and defended him; they made him out as a hero (they even called him their Nelson Mandela, a thieving Mandela, not a Mandela that fights for social justice).
One of them, a brain dead fellow that apparently lives at Canada and uses a university (edu.) address to make it seem like he is faculty (he writes at eight grade level hence is probably doing nonacademic job there?) rubbishes my name just because I said that a thief ought to be punished. In his infantile mind the fact that I did not join Igbos in defending his fellow Igbo makes me weird; apparently, one must be crazy to stand for the truth!
Apparently, as they see it Igbos are at war with Nigeria and in war every behavior is justified, including stealing from Nigerians.
Well, in my book stealing is stealing regardless of whom you stole from. I would throw that Igbo sociopathic attorney at Washington DC to prison, to no less than seventy -five years in prison and also seize every asset he has to pay for the money he stole.
These people are too far gone to be relevant to civilization, really. I just hope that they are not wiped out by their Nigerian neighbors, for the next time they provoke a war in Nigeria the other Nigerian ethnic groups having concluded that they are unrepentant thieves without remorse or guilt feeling would probably gang up on them and kill them off.
When attacked, Igbos would probably cry out to the rest of the world hoping that the world bought their delusion that they are special hence come to their rescue but the rest of the world seeing them as thieves (they are the kingpins of Nigeria’s notorious 419 criminal ring, and as we talk they scam American banks, credit cards and Americans know this fact) would not come to their rescue.
Who is going to come save criminals, keep them alive to steal some more? Killing them serves them right, moral people would say!
One must learn how to handle Igbos paranoid persecution complex. They attack people by constantly insulting them and in self-defense people often attack them and they feel persecuted. Like paranoids everywhere they forget what they did to provoke the persecution they get but instead only talk about their persecution.
If you dared point out their sordid behaviors they immediately see you as persecuting them and their paranoid sense of persecution goes into high gear and most of them would come at you with their rusted swords stabbing at thin air where they think that you are.
I used to pithy these people; actually, it was out of pity, compassion and sympathy that I wasted my time writing about them. But I no longer care for them. For all I care they all could be killed by their Nigerian neighbors and I would not lose sleep.
Destiny took me out of Nigeria at age nineteen; I have my family in the West so killing Igbos in Nigeria would only affect me tangentially when my distant relatives are killed in Nigeria. The point is that I really have nothing to lose when Igbos neighbors kill them. I only talk about Igbos out of human interest.
Igbos like to label people with psychiatric terms. Even though they are afraid to look inside them lest they see the shit they believe is in there (Africans sold their people into slavery hence believe that they are evil persons but do not want to acknowledge that reality by looking into their souls), and as such do not take courses in psychology but when it suits them to put folks down they become psychologists and psychiatrists and give folks psychiatric labels.
These days they quickly call folks who disagree with them schizophrenic, obsessed and or narcissistic and similar names. But if you asked them what those labels mean they reveal that they know diddlysquat about them. They simply latched onto psychiatric labels that in their childish minds would seem to make those they call them seem insane, hence beneath them.
They call people crazy because they feel crazy, deny it and project their self- view to other people, but what they projected out is still in them.
I often feel like teaching them the meaning of the psychiatric terms they cavalierly employ but give up for it is like teaching savages science; they have no frame of reference to understand what you are talking about!
I must say that a person like me is a shock to Igbos. Why? Ordinarily, they are used to going about imagining themselves superior human beings. But here I come and see them as nothing (I also see myself as nothing; existentially we are all nothing special; we are born, die and rot and that is all there is to us); I do not acknowledge their delusion of grandeur.
I must have shocked them for how can a human being see them, self-exalted superior persons as not important? The only way they could cope with that situation is to call me silly psychiatric names.
In putting me down they are struggling to retain their cherished deluded self-concepts. If I am uninformed and crazy then what I said about them does not matter and they still can retain their cherished grandiose self-concepts. I understand their neurotic ego dances.
I have no psychiatric diagnosis. I have good self-esteem; I do not see myself as superior or inferior to any human being. I do struggle to be knowledgeable in some areas of academic endeavor while accepting that there are things that I am not good at, and such is life.
PS: I will post this material on Nigerian Internet forums; my motivation is educational. But that is not how the unscrupulous Igbos would see it. They would seize on it to harp on me and in the meantime refuse to deal with their palpable problems. Wherever they go people see them as self-centered, unprincipled, opportunistic, arrogant and hate them; they would not deal with that negative social perception of them but instead redirect attention to you who calls attention to their dreadful behaviors. Some people say that Igbos have bad karma; I do not believe in karma. I believe that people’s personalities shape their behaviors and their behaviors determine their fate. Igbos negative behaviors determine how other people respond to them, which mostly is negatively. This is a pity; but reality is that behavior has effects and those who hurt other persons reap negative consequences whereas those who love other persons receive love from them. As we sow we reap; what we give to other persons, love or hate, we receive from them.

Rookie psychotherapists perceiving the devastation paranoid characters leave in their wake are tempted to blame them; seasoned psychotherapists learn that paranoia is a mental disorder and that the sick need to be understood and helped to become healed and not blamed for the negative behaviors they exhibit. This paper says that we should not blame Igbo paranoid persons but try to understand them and help them overcome their mental disorder; their paranoia causes too much social problems for them and for other people and therefore they have to be helped to overcome it for society’s good.
One Should Not Blame Paranoid (Igbo) Persons; One Should Help Heal Them
I was given a problem and responded to it inappropriately. I was shown Igbos who are clearly paranoid but responded to them by blaming them; this was inappropriate response to them. The appropriate response to the sick is to understand his sickness and show him how he can heal it.
A substantial number of Igbos have delusion disorder. Delusion disorder has subtypes, including grandiose, persecutory, erotomanic, jealous and somatic.
Briefly, grandiosity means that one has a belief that one’s self is very important and one wants other persons to treat one as such and feels angry when one believes that they are not treating one as an exalted personage; persecution is belief that other people are trying to harm one or ones interests or kill one when they are not doing so; erotomania is belief that a very important person is in love with one or is married to one when that is false; jealousy is belief that one’s friend or spouse is cheating on one when that is false; somatoform is belief that one has a physical disorder that one does not have.
These beliefs tend to be systematized so that rational feedback from other persons does not lead one to give them up. A poor, powerless person may believe that he has billions of dollars and is the most powerful person in the world and behaves as such; a man who is not persecuted by his neighbors may believe that they are out to kill him and defends his self by either avoiding them or attacking them.
I blamed paranoid Igbos for doing what paranoid persons do: act arrogantly and degrade other people. This was the wrong response to them. The right response is not to moralize about their problem and not to blame them but to study them, and show them how to heal themselves (no human being can heal other human beings mental problems; one can only heal one’s self and show other people how they can individually heal themselves).
WHY ARE MANY IGBOS PARANOID?
Delusion disorder, aka paranoia is belief in what is not true as true; specifically, it is belief that one has a special, important and powerful self that one does not have; belief that that important and powerful self is persecuted when no one is persecuting it.
Delusion disorder can occur in the individual, in family members or members of a group; when it affects a group it is called follies adieu. (Family members or members of an ethnic group may feel persecuted by their neighbors when that is not true.)
The term paranoia is of Greek origin. The Greeks employed it to represent mental disorders. To them, it meant the mentally ill person’s tendency to reject his real self, a weak self, invent a different powerful self and pretend to be that powerful self, defend it, and present it to other people to accept as who he is and feel angry at them if they do not collude with him and see him as the perfect person he wants to be seen as.
The paranoid person is affectively stiff, rigid and inflexible; he is guarded in social settings; he is always scanning people’s faces and expecting threats from them; he does not trust other people’s ability to work for his good; he is always suspicious and expects folks to trick him. He is always wondering what other people are thinking. Some paranoid persons think that God selected them to save the world. The paranoid person is always very rational but emotionally challenged. He is argumentative and wants to win all arguments he enters even if he is wrong; winning makes his grandiose ego seem powerful.
Paranoid persons are usually good in the sciences, especially mathematics and engineering; go look at the computer geek/nerd, the kid with superior IQ (over 132) and knows the answers about technical matters that most people do not know, and you probably see a paranoid or schizoid personality.
There are technical terms for the various aspects of paranoia, such as idea of centrality, idea of reference, religious ideation...these days many deluded Igbos are ministers of the various Pentecostal religions in Nigeria and believe that they are called by God to save the world.
Explanation of the various manifestations of paranoia is beyond the scope of this deliberately non-technical paper (see further reading list).
In other papers I grappled with the question: why are too many Igbos paranoid in psychological structure? I explored Igbos individual biological make ups as a possible causal factor; I explored Igbo society, a society that rejects Igbos and accepts them only when they are achieving thus making them insecure, unsure that they are valued members of society, as a causal factor; and, finally, I explored the spiritual angle.
I looked at the metaphysical notion that originally people are part of one unified reality and chose to separate from it and invented the world of space, time and matter to live in separation; that they used matter to construct bodies for each of them and that body, space and time give them the illusion of being separate from each other and from their collective self, God.
I pondered what would happen if folks stopped seeking separation and returned to union; would that lead to spirituality? If that is the case, then when Igbos stopped seeking separated selves and returned to union with God and all people, and loved all people they would produce spiritualized persons who may be a blessing to mankind?
These issues are not the objective of this particular paper and I will not pursue them here.
EXISTENTIAL ISSUES AS CAUSAL FACTORS IN THE ETIOLOGY OF PARANOIA
Paranoia, aka delusion disorder is caused by many factors including existential factors. The paranoid person is acutely aware of his existential nothingness. In childhood, due to a combination of inherited biological deficits and adverse social experiences (his parents and society accepts him only when he seems important and otherwise rejects him if he seems less achieving of his society’s values...such societies are in Carl Rogers terms conditionally positively accepting of people) the paranoid to be child feels exacerbated nothingness.
To be human is to feel like one is nothing but this existential sense of nothingness is exacerbated in paranoid persons.
Consider: We are born, grow up, suffer diseases and pain, age and then die. Upon death the bodies that we had literally enslaved ourselves working to procure what sustains them decay and smell worse than feces. Our dead bodies become food for worms. This makes us feel like we are nothing special.
This existential sense of unimportance is exacerbated in some children. Such children react with pursuit of exaggerated importance; they reject their perceived sense of unimportance and posit an idealized self-concept that seeks inordinate importance and power. As Alfred Adler pointed out, all children posit a sense of worth, value, importance and power and seek to become those, but paranoid children exaggerate them.
In pursuing ideal selves human beings mask their existential sense of unimportance and thus are able to tolerate their selves. Normal human beings feel special when in fact they feel like they are not special. Paranoid persons exaggerate what normal human beings feel.
The paranoid child rejects his human reality, his weak body and posits a big self and pursues it. In pursuing the ideal, big, important and powerful self (fictional self since it is not who he is in fact) he feels like he is existentially special and important. He presents his imaginary big self-image to other people to approve and accept. If other people validate and accept his big self he feels fine but if he suspects that they do not accept it he feels bad and accuses them of demeaning him, degrading him, humiliating him, belittling him, criticizing him etc.
The paranoid child (you can see paranoid symptoms in a fourteen year old adolescent who is tending to paranoia) is always quarrelling with those he believes do not accept his fancied big, dignified and exalted self. This child wants to be respected by all people around him and is very sensitive to how people treat him. When he (miss) perceives other people not respecting him he accuses them of doing so.
Since he occasionally falsely accuses people of not respecting him they resent him for falsely accusing them of doing what they did not do and fight with him. Most people avoid the paranoid person and leave him to wallow in his fictional sense of importance and superiority to other people.
Factors other than existential ones obviously contribute to paranoia. Whatever makes a human being to feel inadequate contributes to paranoia in him. Immigrants to new lands, especially if they are looked down on, tend to develop high levels of paranoia. Minorities in racists’ societies tend to have high levels of paranoia. Disrespected poor people tend to have high levels of paranoia. In societies where women are not respected but looked down on they tend to feel like they have no worth and some of them develop paranoia (grasping for false worth when real worth is withheld from one; this is one reason why Carl Rogers insists that we should accept all people in an unconditionally positive manner; that we should not engage no judging people as good or bad but to just love all the people around us).
FEAR IS EXAGGERATED IN PARANOID PERSONS
All human beings are fearful; fear alerts them to threats to their lives and forces them to do what they have to do to survive. Without fear human beings and animals in general would not do what they have to do to survive and would die.
Fear is exaggerated in paranoid persons. The paranoid person is always a fearful, anxious and tense person. He pursues his grandiose goals with such intensity that he fears failing to get them (to not attain his goal of big self he thinks is tantamount to dying).
Given their drive to succeed, some paranoid persons make it to the top of their societies. Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin and other paranoid dictators made it to the head of state of their countries. The point is that the paranoid person can make it to the highest position in the land. Many heads of states and Chief executive officers like Steve Jobs (founder of Apple Computers) are paranoid personalities.
While pursuing his big self the paranoid person lives a cursed existence; why? It is because he does not know a moment of peace and joy in his life.
Steve Jobs was driven for success; like many paranoid persons he bore grievances; indeed, he did not forgive his father who had abandoned him and his mother; the man was so intense in pursuit of success and so unforgiving that he could not relax and smell the coffee.
The paranoid person is a mentally and physically sick person (there is always a physical aspect to paranoia; Adolf Hitler had numerous physical disorders so that he could not eat food without feeling distress and was a teetotaler; he never smoked or drank alcohol and was a vegetarian because meat caused his stomach distress). A sick person he is not to be blamed; he is to be studied, understood and helped to heal.
One must have pity, sympathy and compassion for the paranoid person; he is a suffering human being. A suffering person is not to be blamed but to be cured.
However, because the paranoid person causes those around him a lot of headache many persons do not have compassion for him; they want to crucify him (as I wanted to crucify paranoid Igbos).
Obviously, given the troubles the paranoid person causes his neighbors he is not to be allowed to keep on causing his neighbors problems; sickness is not an excuse to make life miserable for other persons. What needs to be done is to show the paranoid person how to live a healthy and peaceful existence.
Whereas it is not ones duty to heal the paranoid person, nor can one do so even if one tried, yet it is ones obligation to show him what constitutes healthy living.
Our collective and individual duty for mentally ill persons is to study mental illnesses and show the mentally ill how to heal their selves. We must remember that unhealed mentally ill persons like Adolf Hitler killed millions of people, so it is our duty to show these persons what constitutes mental illness and mental health.
Only the individual can heal his psychological illness for he is the one who constructed it by seeking a big self and defending that imaginary big self; he chose the big self and must now choose a different self, a humble, loving self. (George Kelly made a persuasive argument that it is the human child who uses his inherited biological and social experiences to construct his self-concept, personality and is responsible for behaviors predicated on his personality.)
Good therapists do not blame their psychologically sick patients; they show them what constitutes healthy psychological states. Even if the patients chose their sickness they are still sick and are suffering and are not to be blamed but shown how to heal themselves. They need to be shown how to let go of paranoia (by letting go of the desired big self that underlie it) and in doing so experience peace and joy.
As observed, I saw Igbo paranoid persons and instead of merely showing them how to heal their mental illness, seeing the harm they do to those around them by degrading them, I blamed them. My mistake is made by many inexperienced therapists. This mistake is made when one focuses only on the evil people do without focusing on why they do what they do.
Mistakes are to be corrected. The correction of this particular mistake lies in not blaming paranoid persons (Igbos) but studying them and then showing them how to heal their mental disorder so as to attain peace and joy in their lives.
One should not condone paranoid persons anti-social behaviors; one should show them how to heal their paranoia so as to behave in a more peaceful and happy manner.
The problem with trying to help heal Igbo paranoid persons is that the average Igbo understands mental disorder as what he calls ‘Onye ara” (mad person); in his categories, “onye ara” pertains only to schizophrenics and those with Bipolar affective disorder (who constitute less than one percent of the human population).
Every human being living in body has some physical and mental disorders. No human being is physically or mentally one hundred percent healthy. Every person you see around you has some known or unknown physical and mental disorder. If a human being is totally physically and mentally healthy he is probably in a class by himself; real human beings are always imperfect, physically and mentally.
Additionally, it is difficult to tell paranoid Igbos that they are mentally ill given that they may occupy high positions in society. In their minds the mentally ill does not occupy high positions in society; their conception of mental illness is the schizophrenic, disorganized type walking in their Igbo village pathways and eating from garbage dumps.
Alas, the paranoid person may attain the highest positions in the land and therefore it is difficult for folks to see him as mentally ill. The best mathematician of the twentieth century was probably Gödel, and he was paranoid. Many mathematicians, professors in the sciences and engineering, certainly many politicians, military officers, business men, in short many persons in all walks of life have paranoid disorders. Therefore, folks should not have a difficult time accepting that successful persons could be paranoid.
(If you consider yourself not paranoid, since paranoia is wearing a false self, what is the real-self that you, a healthy person presumably is? You probably do not know what constitutes your real self!)
Let me reiterate, most people have mental disorders, such as mild depression, anxiety and personality disorders. Even the psychiatrist treating the mentally ill often has mental disorders (I once supervised a psychiatrist with bipolar affective disorder and as long as he was on his medication, lithium, was probably the best clinician in our clinic).
For our present purpose, each person has some type of mental disorder and it is about time folks accepted this reality and sought treatment for their mental disorders and thus make their lives more manageable.
The average American psychotherapist sees clients with professional degrees; his clients are mostly white folk; black folks generally do not seek psychotherapy; they drink alcohol or do drugs or have frequent sex in a futile effort to use those as salve for their psychological problems. Then they do something anti-social and the law gets them into psychological treatment against their wishes, such as when they beat their wives and they are sentenced to one year of domestic violence treatment and in the course of the treatment for their anger issues their other psychological issues are seen.
Let me stress that so far no therapist that I know of has completely gotten a paranoid person to be healed. Once paranoid one is always paranoid but one can understand it and reduce some of its symptoms.
Since paranoid persons generally deny that they have paranoia and instead project it to other persons, therefore, getting them to acknowledge their mental disorder is considered a good beginning.
Igbo paranoid persons deny their paranoia and call you paranoid. That is, they see a sickness in them, deny it and project it to the person who is trying to help heal them. In their minds by calling you paranoid they are now mentally healthy and you are the unhealthy one (of course you are not one hundred percent healthy, for no human being is one hundred percent healthy).
What you project out is still in you. What you deny and try to give to other persons you retain. The only way to heal paranoia is to accept that one has it, understand it in broad terms and how it specifically works in one and then try to overcome it.
No one can actually heal all of his paranoia for even the most normal person has some paranoia in him. If you completely gave up your paranoia you probably would exit from this world; this is because some fearfulness and sense of importance seems necessary to adapt to the exigencies of this world.
If a person gave up his self-concept, exaggerated or humble he would probably die and return to undifferentiated state, what mystics call our unified spirit self, our original state before we allegedly attempted to separate from it and hence came to this world of space, time and matter to live as individuated, separated ego selves housed in bodies.
For our present purposes, Igbo paranoid persons must stop denying and projecting what is in them to other people. This is because despite their denials any trained mental health professional (psychiatrist and psychologist) sees the paranoia in many of them.
Their argumentativeness, their desire to win and have other Nigerians lose, their supercilious pursuit of superiority; their obsessive-compulsive pursuit of achievement are manifestations of pursuit of grandiose self, pursuit of paranoid self-concept (when pursuit of superiority, neurosis, according to Alfred Adler is redirected to pursuit of what serves the entire community, social interest, one is now normal but not healthy for even the most normal person has some neurosis, some paranoia in him).
My goal is to persuade the paranoid Igbo to desist from denigrating other people, as many paranoid Igbos do. In pursuit of their deluded big self, paranoid Igbos feel superior to their Nigerian neighbors and call them degrading names. In doing so, they alienate their neighbors and provoke attacks on Igbos.
Igbos should realize that the individual’s worth is a social construct; people agree to respect and value each other. But just as they agree to value each other they can also agree to withdraw the worth they conferred on each other.
During wars members of the belligerent, fighting groups consciously and purposely remove worth from their opponents and thus kill them without feeling like they did anything wrong; indeed, they feel like they are heroes for killing their so-called enemies (before they go to wars they stereotype their enemies; Japanese became japs, Germans became Jerries’ to Americans); if they failed in dehumanizing their enemies and still killed them, after the war they would suffer massive sense of guilt, as we saw in Vietnam veterans; these committed high levels of suicide from sense of the wrong they did in killing “gooks”, their dehumanizing name for the Vietnamese, or resorted to alcohol and drugs to salve their guilty conscience.
Point: you must take away your enemy’s humanity to kill him and not feel bad; you must, in your mind, make a Hausa or Yoruba person not human to justify abusing or killing him, as Major Nzeogwu and his criminal gang did (they did not kill Igbo leaders because in their warped minds only Igbos are human beings!).
At the individual level each human being can decide to remove worth from other people and as such harm or kill them without feeling guilty and remorseful. Criminals do this all the time; they choose not to respect other people hence rob or kill them and not feel any qualms of conscience.
Paranoid Igbos choose to remove worth from other Nigerians and call them degrading names. But like fools they do not realize that what they have done to others that other persons can also do that to them. Igbos degrade Hausas and Yoruba’s and Hausas and Yorubas can choose to degrade Igbos and remove worth from them and attack and kill them without feeling guilty!
When other Nigerians remove worth from Igbos hence treat them disrespectfully or even kill them Igbos complain about such behavior!
Why complain when Igbos had done the same thing to Hausas and Yorubas by removing value from them?
Igbos engage in this behavior because of their delusion disorder. In their delusion they fancy themselves superior to Hausas and Yorubas!
How can one human being be superior to others? If you believe that God created all people and he allowed some of his children to be superior to others he would be an unjust and insane God. A just and sane God wants his children to see themselves as the same and coequal with one another.
On the other hand, if you are a materialist and believe that the world is a place of unchecked competition where the fittest survive at the expense of the weakest, well, then let the scientifically and technologically fittest animals on the extant earth, in this case, white folks wipe off the scientifically and technologically most backward race, black folks!
Let us leave childish rationalizations alone and emphasize the truth of our being. The fact is that all people, black and white, men and women, adults and children are the same and coequal. Of course, some persons are physically stronger than others and some are more intelligent than others but that is not group based but individual based phenomenon. You may be a 300 pounds strong footballer but a weak looking 150 pounds ten year old kid with an IQ of over 140 is more intelligent than you.
Regardless of individual physical and or mental differences all people are existentially the same and must be loved and respected.
If you treat any human being with anything other than love and respect you are a savage. Merely appreciating human suffering makes a rational person value all people and do his best to make folks live decent existences.
Consider this vignette. An Igbo woman apparently read some of my articles and called me. She told me that she had seen psychiatrists and was on medications and told me about her problems. I thought that she was interesting so I allowed myself to talk to her. Since she told me the story of her life, I reciprocated by talking a bit about my background. I told her that I was once married and is now divorced and is not interested in marriage. I told her that given what my ex-wife did to me, use the judicial system to get as much spousal support as she could get from me that I am not ready to allow another woman into my life. Subsequently, this woman came on strongly to me; apparently, she wanted more than chatting over the phone. I had to stop our talking before it got out of hand hence I terminated the calls and told her not to call me, again. She wrote to me saying that I am paranoid over women.
I smiled considering that she had told me that she had seen a couple of psychiatrists before reading my articles on paranoia. She said that her psychiatrists had diagnosed her as having delusion disorder with persecutory features and placed her on anti-depression and anti -anxiety medications. She feels persecuted by her ex-husband and his people (and by rejecting her aggressive overtures she added me to her list of persecutors!). She claims that spirits tell her to tell folks to do this or that (she denies that they are actual voices, hallucination) and has paranoid religious ideation (some paranoid persons, often called paranoid prophets want to save the world...doing so gratifies their desire to have powerful important, god like self).
The salient point here is that the woman is paranoid, denies it and projects it to other persons. It would serve her well to accept her paranoia, understand how it works and deal with it rather than denying it and projecting it to other persons.
All human beings have some paranoia in them; that is what it means to be a human being. You do not need to go about calling folks paranoid when you are a classic case of paranoia.
Many Igbos feel that they are paranoid persons, deny it and call other persons paranoid. Because every human being has some paranoia in him or her they would seem to make sense in calling one paranoid. But they are merely deceiving themselves by hiding their mental health issues.
You do not go about calling therapists paranoid, as this woman called the therapists who prescribed medications for her (she said: “there is nothing the matter with me, they are the ones who are sick”). Most psychoanalysts (psychotherapists who embrace the Freudian approach) are required to undergo an extended period of psychoanalysis. The idea is for them to discuss their own issues with another analyst and get a handle on them and not allow their issues to color how they see their patients. A therapist may have some paranoia in him but as long as he understands it and does not project it to his patients he is fine.
What is absolutely unacceptable is to deny what is in one and project it to other persons, as many deluded Igbos do and think that they have deceived folks by calling them psychiatric names, names they do not even know what they mean!
DISCUSSION
I have talked about the odious behavior of paranoid persons. However, it must be quickly observed that just because one is paranoid does not mean that one’s sense of persecution does not have a germ of truth in it. It is true that the paranoid person exaggerates his sense of persecution but he is generally persecuted.
We are all persecuted! Being born into a problematic body that traumatizes one is biological or nature’s persecution of one; other people not loving and respecting one and generally not helping one is social persecution of one.
In North America, white racists do discriminate against black people in employment hiring etc.; this is persecution.
In Nigeria, Igbos do get treated as second class citizens and that is persecution. We are not denying that element of truth in paranoid persecution complex; what we are trying to do is get a handle over the persecution that paranoid Igbos generate for their selves; they make other people hate and persecute them when they feel superciliously superior to other Nigerians.
If one feels superior to other persons and calls them derogatory names, since all human beings want to be respected, they would feel angry at one and some would attack one. In this case it is one that generated other people’s persecution of one.
That been said it does not follow that one generates all the persecution that comes ones way. The thing to do is for one to accept that one does contribute to other people’s persecution of one; and figure out a way to deal with the aspect of persecution that is not within ones control.
None of us is innocent but none of us is totally guilty. We are all co-responsible for our human condition.
Wherever there is paranoia there is physical disorder (s) that made the child feel weak; and there is also social factors such as parental criticism and expectation that the child live up to grandiose goals that made the child feel not good enough.
Regardless of the biosocial factors contributing to human beings sense of powerlessness and sense of inadequacy there is an overarching cause of paranoia. Paranoia, in addition to biosocial causal factors is caused by the existential factor of human nothingness.
The paranoid child is acutely aware that he is nothing and that all people are nothing. He then uses his thinking to create a sense of being somebody important, create a significant, special and powerful self and tries to become that false special self.
(The paranoid Igbo is acutely aware that he is nothing but tries to deny that realistic assessment of the human condition and posits a compensatory powerful self-concept and tries to pretend to be that imaginary big self, hence his paranoia....if you understand the mental processes going on in paranoia you begin to understand why some of them are some of the smartest people around...when I was in secondary school, the fourteen year old mathematical genius in our school at age eighteen became schizophrenic, paranoid type.)
The special self is false for no matter how you look at it human beings are nothing. They are born and die and are eaten by worms.
The paranoid child accurately perceives his self as not special and ties to become something special. All human beings do this but it is exaggerated in the paranoid person.
Clearly, human beings are nothing. One must therefore accept that existential reality. One must tell one’s self that one is nothing and certainly one is not special, powerful or important (for one thing any human being who so desires it can put a bullet into your head and kill you so you are not that powerful despite your paranoid delusion of having power).
Having accepted ones existential nothingness, since one must live one must love and respect one’s self. One must identify with all human beings and since they are in the same boat with one love and respect all of them despite their existential nothingness.
What one must never do is invent a fictional important self for one’s self and pretend to be it. The reality is that human beings are nothing and this cannot be white washed and one must accept it. Since one has already invented a fictional important self for one’s self in childhood one must now jettison that self.
From a scientific perspective your body is made of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen, and other trace elements and those are composed of electrons, protons and neutrons and those are composed of quarks which are composed of photons and which are composed of nothing. Your body is literally nothing and you are nothing. That is the gospel truth.
Having accepted that you are nothing and stopped pretending that you are something important you would have no self (or feel as if you are part of one unified self).
The human self-concept is a made up thing, a make belief thing; the self-concept does not exist in fact.
The human child takes his biological and social experiences as building blocks and uses them to construct a self-concept, grandiose or humble for his self. The self-concept is a fiction that the child thinks is who he is and defends it and defense of it makes it seem real to him.
The self-concept is not real. If it is not defended it dies and goes out of existence. Therefore, accept your nothingness. When you do you feel peaceful and happy; you feel like cold water is poured over you. You feel a kind of peace that is beyond human comprehension. This peace and joy is worth giving up the ego self for.
Accept nothingness, or as Buddhism says, accept no self. But despite having no self you must still live well, eat well, exercise regularly, go to school and study science (physics, chemistry, biology, psychology).
It is good to try to understand the physical universe but beyond that we really do not know anything for sure.
Some say that spirit exists; that it is spirit that takes the body and social factors a child is born into and uses them to construct a separated ego self-concept for him. May be so, and may be not so. I am not interested in speculation about spirit here.
If spirit exists let it dawn on one by itself; one does not need to engage in conjectures as to what spirit is or is not. One does not want to project ones ideas of what spirit is out and then defend ones projection and in defense make it seem real for one. I do not know if spirit exists or not; I am agnostic (and leaning to gnostic religions).
Over the years I observed Igbos and found many of them paranoid; they posit grandiose ego selves and fancy that they are those superior selves; from the stand point of their imaginary big selves they look down on other people and consider themselves a superior breed of humanity (until Hausa folks, those they feel superior to, put bullets into their heads and kill them; but despite this dose of reality check, this wakeup call they choose to remain deluded; they do not learn that they are not even superior to dogs!).
Igbos will go to the end of the world trying to prove their supposed superiority; this is paranoid trait.
As we talk (May, 2013), at Nigerian Internet forums there is a debate going on. An Igbo attorney at Washington DC apparently appropriated millions of dollars belonging to the Nigerian embassy at Washington DC. The Embassy sued him to get its money back; a US federal district court judge ruled for the crooked attorney to return the money to the embassy. But instead of his Igbo compatriots seeing that he is a thief they argue and argue about how he is not guilty or how the embassy would not recover a penny from him. This is how paranoid persons think; they argue to win and hate to lose (to lose makes them feel insignificant, and small...remember that they want to feel big and powerful, winning makes them feel powerful).
Even when paranoids lose they make it seem like they won (the sociopathic attorney is going to lose everything he has and eventually wound up in prison; white color psychopaths always do).
CONCLUSION
Every human being, building on his inherited body and social experience, in childhood, usually before age six, constructs a self-concept and self-image for him. The self-concept, aka ego can be realistic and humble or unrealistic and grandiose.
The self-concept does not exist apart from the mind of the person who constructed it. Exist or not, it is defended and its defense makes it seem to exist for its owner.
If the self-concept is not defended and one does not defend the body that houses it, it goes out of existence.
What remains when the self-concept goes out is the conceptualizer, whom some say is spirit. I do not know whether spirit exists or whether the self was produced by a bunch of neurons in one’s heads.
Neurons, brain cells are made of atoms, which are made of electrons, protons and neutrons and which are made of photons and which are made of nothing. If so, it follows that nothingness constructed the self-concept for one! If so it is amazing!
My primary concern here is not neuroscience and metaphysical considerations but to point out that we should approach paranoid persons with understanding and love and not blame them for the chaos they cause around them.
The sick is suffering; paranoid persons are suffering from fearfulness, anxiety and the heated intensity they live in. They do not know a moment of peace in their lives.
The pursuit of their false big selves makes them not respect their real selves (which they see as not good enough and hate); what they did to their selves they do to other persons; that is, they reject other persons because they are not ideal and perfect persons (Igbos reject Hausas because they are not ideal and perfect persons).
In the case of Igbo paranoid persons, they degrade their neighbors. In the case of Nazi Germans, they killed their neighbors to prove their phantom superiority. Hitler murdered 50 million persons to prove his imaginary superiority and when the supposed inferior Russians he sent his troops to go kill and take over their lands, Lebensraum, came calling at his Bunker’s door in Berlin he killed his self. His body was burned and the resulting fertilizer was dumped at the rose garden around the bunker. The great Fuhrer became food for rose plants; so much for his alleged greatness!
White racists bodies die and become fertilizer for plants; so much for their alleged superiority to black persons!
We must not blame paranoid persons; we must understand them and show them how to shrink their swollen egos to humble proportions, and eventually show them how to let go of all self-concepts, let go of the ego and have no ego separated self and in no ego state know the peace of the mystic.
So far no one has identified medical markers for paranoid disorders. However, where paranoia is conjoined with schizophrenia (schizophrenia, paranoid type) it is treated with the medications employed in treating schizophrenia (there are many types of schizophrenia, including disorganized, paranoid, catatonic, undifferentiated, residual etc.). The current assumption is that schizophrenia has something to do with excess of the neurotransmitter, Dopamine in the brain and neuroleptic medications like Zyprexa and Risperdal that reduce that neurochemical in the brain are employed in treating it. Perhaps, the medications reduce hallucinations but not necessarily the delusion aspect of schizophrenia?
Delusion disorder is supposed to be a mask over underlying low self-esteem hence a cover up of depression. Some clinicians therefore give deluded persons any of the anti-depression medications, such as Paxil, Zoloft and Prozac.
Some people group paranoid personality disorder with the anxiety personality disorders (avoidant, dependent and obsessive compulsive) hence treats it with the anxiolytics, such as Xanax, valium, Ativan etc.
Wherever there is paranoia there are medical causal issues therefore treating the disorder with medications seems called for. Whereas it is appropriate to give paranoid persons medications, I believe that clinicians must add existential psychotherapy to their treatment.
I tend to believe that there is a choice element in paranoia. How? A child sees his inherited weak and or pained body that makes him feel inferior and sees his adverse social circumstances such as over critical and demeaning parents that diminish his self-esteem. He chooses to have a big self as a means of coping with his existential condition. Another child in the same situation could have chosen a humble self to adapt to the condition he found his self in?
I believe that we invent our self-concepts and, as such, can reinvent them. The individual can choose a different self-concept, this time choose a humble self that sees itself as the same and coequal with all selves. I know that this is easier said than done.
The self-concept is the most difficult thing to give up. Sometimes it requires meditation (as practiced by Oriental religions) for one to give up one’s ego.
In other papers I talked about Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism and Zen and meditation and will not talk about those here. Suffice it to say that whatever shrinks the ego is welcome.
A mix of existential psychotherapy, Oriental religions, meditations and medications are probably called for in trying to get rid of the big ego self, aka paranoid self.
When the paranoid person overcomes his existential thinking disorder, that is, when he gives up his quest for a big ego self he generally becomes a mystic, ala Hinduism, Buddhism and Zen. According to these religions when the self-concept, big or small is given up one experiences no self, which is nothingness and which is ones real self; that real self is said to be unified self, is one self that is simultaneously infinite selves.
In this light, when paranoid Igbos are healed by ceasing pursuit of big selves and accept their God created self, a self that is the same and coequal with all selves and love God and all his children they would become sane. In effect, there is hope for paranoid Igbos!

If you are paranoid, and many Igbos are, and want consultation on it you can talk to Dr. Osuji; he can be reached at (907) 570-4954 or (907) 440-4317. Please do not call to argue with him and or prove to him that you are healthy and he is sick, or that he feels inferior and you have good self-concept, or that the entire world is wrong and you are right or that no one else knows anything and only you do. Do not call to call him schizophrenic when you do not even know what schizophrenia means! Please only call if you have accepted your sickness and want to overcome it. Many Igbo paranoids call to tell you how they are right and you are wrong; and how they are innocent victims that other people persecute. Their over utilization of rationalization, repression, suppression, denial, displacement, projection, fantasy, reaction-formation, sublimation and other ego defense mechanisms are tiresome. They do not want to learn and change and want other Nigerians and the rest of the world to change and validate their grandiose self-concepts. They want you to enslave them some more by reinforcing their madness. Generally, upon reading what does not praise them many Igbos would write to curse the writer out; it is either you accepted their delusion of grandeur (delusion of superiority) or they perceive you as their enemy. They boast about how rich they are and how poor you are. Well, such infantile behaviors are no longer welcome. Tolerance of abuse from paranoid characters has its limits. Motivation to help these folks does not mean that one should subject one’s self to their sadistic abuse. Psychotherapists exist to help folks shrink their big egos, not to strengthen their big egos hence giving them anxiety and other cognitive and emotional upsets. Finally, what the therapist does for other people he does for himself; that is, he also shrinks his own ego down to humble proportions. Pursuit of the replacement big self is the root of delusion disorders; giving up the pursuit of the big ego is the cure for delusion disorder. Both science and meta-science are useful in seeking a cure for delusion and other mental disorders.
Society is composed of people. We know that where two or more people live together, given their individual differences and values there must be law that delineates how they behave towards one another. Without laws people living together would trespass on each other’s rights and since those trespassed on don’t like it the result would be conflict and war.
Thomas Hobbes, in his seminal book, Leviathan, said that in nature folks warred with each other, with the strong trying to use the weak to make their living and a bunch of the weak reacting with efforts to protect their rights. The result was that folks were always fighting each other; folks had perpetual war.
In an environment where all were at war with all, folks lived in insecurity, for each could harm others. In the state of nature life was “nasty, brutish and short”.
To reduce their social insecurity people formed government (Leviathan, monster) and gave the government the right to pass laws that protected all of them. Government was given the right to punish those persons who disobeyed the laws that protected all people. This is because anti-social behaviors returned people to the dreaded state of nature and its anarchy and chaos. In nature people lived in fear for their safety and they do not want to return to that mode of living.
Simply stated, in organized society we must have governments making laws that protected all of use. Without governments and laws we revert to living in the jungle and its promise of insecurity.
If you are interested in why we have governments, that is, political philosophy you might want to read Plato, The Republic...in it he offered the notion of philosopher kings, training boys from youth and having them pass several examinations and weeding out some and finally at age thirty five selecting those to rule society; Aristotle’s Politics...in it he described what we now call Greek participatory democracy except that he ruled out participation by slaves and women; John Locke, Second Treaty on Government...he modified Hobbes by adding that the government ought to be limited in scope, not Hobbes absolutist government; Jean Jacque Rousseau, Social Contract...he talked about how the people chose their governments hence governments ought to listen to the people, this is democratic theory, if you like; Charles Montesquieu, The Spirit of laws...he talked about how to avoid tyranny by not concentrating government in one person, the division of government into three branches, legislative, executive and judicial and having them relate to each other adversarially and that way liberty is guaranteed in the human polity; John Stuart Mill, On Liberty...he talked about representative government as opposed to pure democracy, Athenian style, and the pleasure principle as the determining factor in making public policy, the people being motivated by pleasure and desire to avoid pain choose what gives them collective pleasure in public policy; Jeremy Bentham, On Utilitarianism...he continued Mill’s pleasure and pain approach to making public policy; Karl Marx, Communist Manifesto...talked about the need to have the collective possess the means of production to avoid the oppression of the bourgeoisie, the owners of capital; Madison, Hamilton and Jay, The Federalist Papers... provided the rational for American federal form of government. (The above theorists are those studied at American and British universities on political philosophy; that is, courses on why we need governments.)
Rational adults recognizing the critical need for governments and laws in society support their leaders. In Nigeria we must have governments enacting laws that protect all Nigerians. Without governments and laws there would be general insecurity in Nigeria. Nobody wants this to happen.
We may not like the governments in Nigeria but the alternative is no government; what we should do is work for a better government that served all Nigerians public good.
International law requires sovereign governments to have representations in other countries and at the United Nations and other international organizations. In this light, Nigeria has an embassy at Washington DC, the capital of the United States of America. The Nigerian embassy at Washington DC is the Nigerian government in America. International law requires America to respect the premises of the Nigerian embassy for even though that premise is in America, International politics protocol considers it Nigerian soil; American legal authorities, such as American police cannot badge into the compound of the Nigerian embassy at Washington DC; such behavior is tantamount to invading the sovereign territory of Nigeria and is declaration of war on Nigeria.
The Nigerian embassy at Washington DC, like all governments engages in financial activities. Apparently, at some point the Nigerian embassy at Washington DC engaged the services of a certain Emeka Ugwuonye; Mr. Ugwuonye, an alleged attorney (his behavior shows that he does not understand the law) performed several services for the Nigerian embassy and was paid for his services.
At some point, the embassy had Mr.Ugwuonye act as a real estate agent for it. Apparently, some building(s) belonging to the embassy were sold for the Embassy by Mr. Ugwuonye.
Court papers show that certain monetary refund from the United States Internal Revenue Service, IRS, due to some sold buildings that belonged to the Nigerian embassy, money meant for the Embassy came to Mr. Ugwuonye. Mr. Ugwuonye, for idiosyncratic reasons, kept the refund instead of forwarding it to the Nigerian embassy. He deposited the fund in his (or his business) bank account instead of giving the check to the Nigerian Embassy.
Right there Mr. Ugwuonye behaved unprofessionally. In normal real estate transactions, real estate agents are paid for their serves (if you bought a house via a realtor his services is generally about 6% of the cost of the house). Court records do not reveal any money owed Mr. Ugwuonye by the Nigerian embassy warranting his kidnaping the money meant for the Nigerian Embassy; in effect, he stole that money!
Nevertheless, if Mr. Ugwuonye had reasons to believe that the Nigerian embassy owed him money and that if he returned its check that it would not pay him his money, the normal business practice in such matters is for him to deposit the check in an independent Escrow Account and not take out a penny from it until the embassy agreed to pay him for his services, and at which point he would release the entire sum to the embassy and the embassy then would pay him (some of us have bought houses and went through this procedure, so one is not speculating here).
Instead of following normal real estate protocols, Mr. Ugwuonye kept the entire money belonging to the Nigerian embassy!
After several efforts were made to regain its money from Mr. Ugwuonye had failed to persuade him to return it, the Nigerian Embassy went to Court to seek legal redress.
Recently, a judge sitting at the United States District Court, Washington DC ruled that Mr. Ugwuonye should return to the Nigerian embassy the said $1.55 million dollars refund from the United States Internal Revenue Service that he had kidnapped.
The Court also ruled that Mr. Ugwuonye should pay interest accruing to the original sum and pay for the legal cost that the Nigerian Embassy incurred.
The Nigerian Embassy has calculated interests and cost to the tune of $6.2 million dollars and gone back to Court asking it to require Mr. Ugwuonye to pay it.
Given legal precedence (the United States, like Britain is a common law country hence accepts precedence, that is, rulings by other judges in ruling in extant cases) and United States statutory laws (laws made by legislative bodies, such as Congress), the chances are that the Court would rule in favor of the Nigerian Embassy.
Since Mr. Ugwuonye has probably spent the original $1.55 million dollars and probably does not have $6.2 million dollars to shell out, the chances are that the people of Nigeria would not recover the money that Mr. Ugwuonye took from them.
This is the familiar story of Nigeria; Nigeria receives a lot of revenue from its oil resources but that money is appropriated by the thieves misgoverning the country while the people live in poverty (the income per capita of Nigeria is $1 a day!).
Here is my problem. Many Igbos at Nigerian Internet forums looking facts in the face decided to deny them and still support the practiced sociopath called Mr. Ugwuonye (listening to his representations gives any rational person the impression that he is talking to an anti-social personality, a sociopath and psychopath with no sense of guilt or remorse, the man has no social conscience; he is using the Igbos that are currently supporting him and when they are no longer useful to him he would dump them like dirty rags).
The personal psychology of Mr. Ugwuonye apart, the relevant legal fact is that he took what does not belong to him; he took what belongs to the people of Nigeria.
I am a Nigerian and, as such, Mr. Ugwuonye took what belongs to me and other Nigerians; I am not a bystander in Mr. Ugwuonye’s criminal activity for it affects me! Like all Nigerians, I have legal standing in this matter; we could request to have input in the court’s proceeding, for Mr. Ugwuonye stole our collective money!
Despite this obvious fact, some Igbos are supporting Mr. Ugwuonye, cheering and leading him on, calling him their Nelson Mandela (the thieving Mandela, I suppose!).
I was flabbergasted by this situation where some Igbos are cheering for a thief. I simply could not believe what I was seeing with my own naked eyes!
I talked to some Igbos to find out why they were supporting this known criminal. Their view is that in Nigeria folks are stealing the public’s monies. The leaders of the Nigerian government, they said, are literally thieves. Nigerian Politicians are looting the Nigerian treasury.
As they see it, the leaders of Nigeria are mostly non-Igbos and if these non-Igbos are stealing Nigeria clean, why shouldn’t an Igbo, Mr. Ugwuonye take part in stealing from the Nigerian treasury?
One Igbo told me: if you are going to complain about Mr. Ugwuonye’s stealing you must also complain about, say, the stealing of the Nigerian head of state who allegedly is looting the Nigerian treasury, big time.
The logic here is that because public officials in Nigeria are rogues, Mr. Ugwuonye is entitled to be a rogue; Mr. Ugwuonye is entitled to get his own share of the Nigerian national cake.
Nigeria is a thieving jamboree, so, why shouldn’t Mr. Ugwuonye join the thieving party? This logic sounds incredible to me; I do not see how two wrongs make right.
I insisted on asking why folks justified supporting Mr. Ugwuonye just because there are too many thieves in Nigeria. They simply told me that this is the way the cookie crumbles in Nigeria, that moralizing about the Nigerian criminal house is naive. They told me to knock it off and let the Igbo brother get his own loot.
Indeed, I was advised to figure out a way to get my own share of goodies coming from the Niger Delta. Why should Hausas and Yorubas who are not from the Niger Delta receive money from the Delta while Igbos do not?
I called Mr. Ugwuonye to hear from the horse’s mouth what is going on. He gave me what amounts to a sociopath’s rationalization for his criminal activity. Nothing was his fault; it was the fault of the embassy that he waylaid money coming to it. I could not believe what came out of this man’s filthy mouth and decided that I had had enough and cut off the conversation (he exhibited what folks call criminal thinking and behavior in everything he said; it is always other folks fault that he did what he did; he blamed other people for all his actions; he did not take responsibility for anything he ever did wrong in his life, and wanted to impress you with whatever good he has ever done with his thrill seeking life; the man is a textbook classic sociopath!).
I am aware that in Nigeria some public officials steal from the public and go to their villages and build mansions with the money they stole. Some even use the money they looted to help some starving kids in their village. Many of these thieves are subsequently made chiefs by their illiterate villagers and masquerade around as chief this or that. Stealing is endemic in Nigeria; one is not a spring chicken; one knows what is going on in Nigeria.
Yet, the question remains; should Igbos support a kinsman who they know is a thief just because he is Igbo? If they do that what makes Igbos different from the other thieves reaping off Nigeria? Would Igbos then consider their selves innocent victims of the Nigerian state or are they participants in the criminal empire that is Nigeria?
I am an Igbo and, as such, am invested in Igbos behavior. A people’s behavior is seen by other people and those other people treat them as they perceive them to behave. If Igbos engage in criminal activities and other people perceive Igbos as criminals, as an Igbo they would perceive me as a criminal and treat me as such. Therefore, I am interested in making sure that Igbos are not perceived as criminals. That is one reason why I am interested in Mr. Ugwuonye’s shenanigans (the other reason is the moral aspect of his behavior: it is simply wrong to take what does not belong to one).
CONCLUSION
I call on real Igbos to from now stand up for moral behavior and stop supporting the criminal Igbos that are giving all Igbos a bad name in Nigeria, Africa and the world. It is about time we reclaimed the good name of our Igbo ancestors, people known for their industry, people who insisted on getting whatever they got on the basis of merit, people who eschewed unearned favors.
In a purely competitive environment where folks were rewarded on the basis of merit, Igbos were well represented in the British colonial milieu.
I believe that we still have the talents our ancestors had and with work and morality we can attain whatever social rank our natural abilities warrant; we do not need to steal to become rich and attain high social status.
It is now time for us to shame false Igbos like the Emeka Ugwuonyes in our midst, and celebrate real Igbo folks like Chinua Achebe, a village boy who with only his talent and hard work climbed the ranks of the literary world.
It is now time for Igbos to return to being Igbos; Igbos are industrious and competitive people. It is now time that we stopped engaging in anti-social behaviors.
Since I began this paper with a deliberate foray to political theory, let me end it in the same vein. Criminals are cowardly people. Why so? Consider that they steal from law abiding people. If every person in the human polity did what criminals did, stole and did not obey the law we would all live in a state of anarchy where criminals would not survive to steal from other persons. Criminals are able to do their anti-social thing because the majority of the people are law abiding folk; criminals take advantage of the good people of their world.
Criminals are not the heroes of mankind. Heroes do not need the police, courts or jails to tell them to do the right thing. Heroes see suffering humanity and ask: how can we help other people?
Heroes do their little bit to serve social interests. Pathetic cowards like Emeka Ugwuonye take advantage of well-organized society but do not do anything to contribute to the efficient functioning of society.
PS: Since Emeka Ugwuonye is a litigious character and has been suing folk, right and left (he sues largely to silence those who criticize his criminal activities, so as to be left a wide open field to keep doing his amoral and unscrupulous thing), I wish that he would sue me and I teach him a thing or two about how the other America works (the psychiatric and psychological aspect of America).
For a starter, I would request that the judge require psychiatric and psychological evaluation of him. Such assessment would ascertain his anti-social personality disorder and demonstrate how he has been reaping off people from about age nine (anti-social personalities begin showing that trait from around age nine; that is when they begin smoking, drinking alcohol, messing with girls, and generally disobeying the law; they find thrill in disobeying the law, Mr. Ugwuonye is thrilled and excited by the fact that he can disobey the law and get away with it and he has been doing this sort of thing since childhood...look into his history and you see that this is the case; the fact that he is an attorney means nothing to the reality of his criminal life, jails are filled with anti-social attorneys and other professionals). This criminal needs to be caged, and sent to prison for the criminally insane, locked up and the keys thrown away. He is gaming the American judicial system for his advantage; that crooked behavior can be easily checkmated by a person like me who has worked the psychological side of the criminal justice system and helped put away criminal psychopaths.
Decent persons go to law school to use knowledge of the law to fight for justice for all of us; this creep went to law school (?) to understand how the law works so as to more efficiently use it to benefit his ego. He games the judicial system for his egoistic interests but could care less for other people’s interests.
Real lawyers represent other people, not themselves, as this disgusting creature specializes in doing!
*Tomorrow, or this afternoon, when I am done writing it, I will post a paper on Igbos problematic character structure. On Sunday I will cull some materials from my daily journal relating to entries I made on Igbos and post them and end the present spat of interest in Igbos problematic behaviors. Why problematic, you ask? Good question. Do you read newspapers? As we talk an Igbo woman had a twenty three year old man impregnate many teenage girls and sell the children...this is reversion to slavery. We feel angry when we read how white slave masters had black studs impregnate many black female slaves and sold the children for money; and we are now doing the same thing and are supposed to keep quiet over it just because it is done by Igbos! Igbos are kidnaping each other and holding them hostage until ransom money is paid to them. Igbos are involved in Nigeria’s 419 scams. In fact, wherever there is criminal activity in Nigeria or even overseas Igbos are at the forefront of it. Six years ago when I made my entry into the Nigerian Internet world, I warned that if we Igbos do not start paying attention to morality that our land would turn into Somalia-like anarchy, and many Igbo know nothings wanted to cut off my head for stating the obvious. What I predicted is already happening in our land; many Igbos are now afraid to visit Alaigbo lest they are kidnapped or even killed by their fellow Igbos! And despite this deplorable situation in our world, some Igbos come to the public square and deny the obvious; they engage in their habitual criminal thinking by blaming other Nigerians for our fallen house. They tell us that it is Nigerians fault that Igbos are poor hence engage in criminal activity. This is the same type of blaming behaviors that we see in inner cities black America, blaming whites that has made the killing rate in, say, South Chicago equivalent to what takes place at war fronts! And it is blacks who are being killed; just as it is Igbos who are being killed by Igbo criminals. It is now time that we took responsibility for the shithouse our Igbo land has become and stopped blaming Hausas and Yorubas for our anti-social behaviors. Until we take ownership of our criminal activities we cannot stop them. As long as a person blames other persons for what he does he will continue doing it; this is one reason why Igbos must not buy into Mr. Ugwuonye’s criminal thinking and criminal behavior by accepting his blaming Nigerians for what he did: steal from them.

People often underestimate their abilities; from a diminished self-evaluation folks believe that other people have what they lack, ability to lead their country. This essay says that people are the same and coequal and what one person can do others can do; it says that since Nigerians are expecting good leaders to do what must be done to rebuild Nigeria’s fallen house each individual Nigerian has the ability to become the leader he wants to lead the country and ought to go about doing what he thinks that leaders do.
Become The Leader That You Are Looking For
Ozodi Osuji
If you are with a group of Nigerians, sooner or later, the conversation focuses on what Chinua Achebe called “the trouble with Nigeria”. The members of the group would invariably talk about how if only Nigeria is blessed with good leaders all would be well in the land. If only Nigeria could produce socially dedicated leaders who ride in on white horses and clean the corrupt house that is Nigeria; if only these unusual leaders would come in and posit goals of development and lead the people all would be well with Nigeria. The members of the group would talk ad nauseam about how all that is missing in Nigeria is good leadership and how that is all the country needs to produce and all would be peaches and roses.
With the desired leaders waving their magic wands the country would be transformed from hell on earth to heaven on earth, from a fourth world country to a first world country; indeed, some say that with good leadership Nigeria would, in a generation, surpass the United States, China, Japan and Germany, the world’s leading economies. This is, of course, wishful, magical thinking; in reality, it would take some time to lay down the economic and political framework for real development to take place in Africa; even with the best of efforts it would take, at least, a century for Africa to produce an educated middle class professionals in science, technology and business and politics able to manage modern economies.
Clearly, Nigeria currently lacks in good leaders and folks are correctly looking for good leaders to pull them out of the sinkhole that they are in.
The problem with Nigerians, however, is that instead of trying to become the leaders they want to have in their country they are looking for them to be other persons.
Achebe looked for other people to become the leaders that would clean the royal mess that is Nigeria.
The question is this: why not become the leader that you are looking for? Why always wait for other people to become leaders for the country?
Leadership is like love, peace and friendship; if you want love in your life you must love other people; if you want peace in your life you must live peacefully; if you want friends you must be friendly towards other people. You get what you put out.
Nigerians and Africans in general expect other persons to lead their country/continent and do what has to be done to modernize their land. I believe that this is because the average African has a low opinion of his self; he feels that he is weak and powerless and believes that other people are stronger than he is hence are capable of doing what weak him cannot do.
Nigerians believe themselves too powerless to become leaders and expect other persons to become the leaders they know that their country demand.
The truth is that there are no persons created as special leaders. Leaders are people who decide to become leaders and learn how to be leaders. Leaders are not born but made; leaders are people who see social problems and resolve to solve them.
Leaders see problems, posit visions, dreams and goals of how to solve them and mobilize human and capital resources and attempt to solve those problems.
Leaders are not born as leaders but become leaders in the process of trying to solve problems for society.
Leaders are risk takers; they are aware that if you try to correct a problem that those who benefit from the problem would oppose you; some would even try to eliminate you.
The house of cards called Nigeria obviously is benefiting some Nigerians; some Nigerians are becoming fabulously wealthy from the lack of law and order in the country; the crooks in power know that all they have to do is steal and if they are caught bribe corrupt police and judges and they get themselves out of trouble while retaining their loot.
The leaders of the empire of thieves called Nigeria would not hesitate destroying whoever tries to stop them from gaining from the bedlam that is Nigeria.
That is to say whoever tries to become a good leader in Nigeria would be perceived as dangerous by those vested in the house of chaos and anarchy called Nigeria; the vested interests in the current status quo in Nigeria and elsewhere in Africa would fight good leaders.
It is because of the awareness of what the criminals in power in Abuja could do to transformative leaders that prevents many Nigerians from taking the bull by the horns and try correcting the mess they live in. Instead, Nigerians merely talk about the leadership vacuum in Nigeria but do nothing about it.
Talk is cheap; what counts is action; action has consequences. If you engage in action you must provoke a reaction, meet opposition.
One can talk about the trouble with Nigeria all one wants and nothing would happen to one (and if one is good writer, such as Chinua Achebe was, ones pamphlet would be read by many persons thus making one money from being a windbag) but if one actually tried to correct the identified problem one would be seen as a source of threat to the powers that be and efforts would be made to remove one from the scene.
Whereas a thirty five year old man (age at which good leaders can run their countries) can write excellent treatises on leadership, if he tries to implement his ideas he may not live to be forty!
Cowards talk sweet talk but do nothing about the problem they talk about; brave men do something about the problem that cowards talk about.
No human polity has ever been well governed without patriots sacrificing their lives for it. Men die for good governance but Nigerians merely talk about the need for good governance; they do not want to die for Nigeria.
Nigerians get what they deserve: contempt from their leaders; their leaders see them as cowards who merely talk the talk but are afraid to walk their talk; men respect those who say here I stand and will not move.
Thomas Paine (in his book, Common Sense) said: give me liberty or give me death; John Stuart Mill (in his book, On Liberty) said that the tree of liberty is watered with patriots’ blood.
Nigerians want liberty but do not want to pay the price it demands, fighting and possible death of their best and brightest.
Like cowards, Nigerians want to live to be hundred but live unmemorable lives! They get what they deserve: being screwed by the thieves of Abuja.
DISCUSSION
Patriots are people who are ready to fight and if needs be lay down their lives for their country. To do so they must love their country. In practical terms patriots must love their people. You sacrifice your life for those you love.
The question is whether Nigerians love their people enough to fight and if needs be lay down their lives for it? Would you, as a Nigerian, if need be die fighting for Nigeria’s good?
I personally would fight for what is right such as justice and freedom for all, not for the wellbeing of some at the expense of others. Nationalism is not the same thing as foolishness. You do not fight for a few to benefit but for all to benefit; I would fight for the economic upliftment of all people.
I asked Nigerians whether they would fight for their country and many of them retorted with: are you kidding me, fighting and dying for a bunch of criminals to benefit from my death? I would not sacrifice my life for Nigerians, not for self-centered persons who never lift a finger for what is good for other people.
With this cynical attitude one must confess that the future looks bleak for Nigeria; if very few Nigerians are willing to fight and if needs be die making Nigeria a great nation Nigeria is indeed cursed!
Nigeria must find a way to change itself from a nation of takers to a nation of givers, a nation that cared for its entire people.
At present Nigerian politics is generally not driven by ideology; Nigerians are simply struggling to survive at the individual level and could care less about the nation and political ideology. Nevertheless, politics deals with political and economic ideologies (capitalism, socialism, communism, fascism, liberalism, conservatism, corporatism etc....see my book, Nigeria’s political economy for explanation of these ideologies).
For comparative purposes, let it be stated that the American is self-centered; he is motivated by free enterprise ideology because that ideology serves his needs and the needs of his family. He could care less for the welfare of other people; it does not bother him that other people do not have enough food or health insurance.
Socialists have collectivistic ideology; they are motivated to serve society. However, as history shows the leaders of communist societies are as egoistic as other human beings. Stalin, Mao Test Tung, Castro and other communists were as power hungry as other human beings.
My guiding light is love for me and for all people; my political ideology is to do what serves all people’s social interests. I accept capitalism but with the public responsible for education at all levels for all people, and publicly paid health insurance for all persons in the human polity.
Having provided people with a minimum of what they need to physically survive, those who wish luxury should work for it.
CONCLUSION
We all now know what the trouble with Nigeria is; we all know that Nigeria lacks corruption free leaders; what we now need to do is do something about the identified problem. Instead of waiting for other people to become the leaders that would correct the problems we have talked so much about we ought to become those leaders.
What Nigeria now needs is doers, not mere talkers; Nigeria has produced too many idle writers and talkers, cowards who are afraid of harm and death; people who run to go protect their unproductive lives when the goon-squad safeguarding the current thieves ruling the country fire their guns into their midst and kill a few persons.
It is now time for Nigeria, Africa and the black race to produce brave, action oriented doers who disregard harm to their bodies and do what is right for all the people.
Nigeria now needs men and women who insist on doing the right things even if it means dying while fighting for those right things.
Africa and black men in general now need folks who want to do what must be done to correct the dreadful condition of the black man.
A leader is a person who sees what needs to be done and organizes those around him and they start doing it; he is upfront doing what needs to be done.
Most solutions to problems require the efforts of people and utilization of capital; therefore, in addition to organizing people for work leaders seek to get the money necessary for doing the work.
Leadership is exercised in small and big tasks, in different fields and professions and at the local, state, national and international levels. You start horning your leadership skills where you are right now.
If you see a problem that needs to be solved, say, a road that needs to be cleaned or rebuilt, a bridge that needs to be built, a school that needs to be taken care of etc. organize those around you to do something about it; don’t just talk about the problem, do something about it.
See a problem, consult with other persons in trying to come up with the solution to it and then organize for action in solving the problem; this is what leadership is all about.
Leadership is not just talking about problems, as Nigerians do, but organizing to solve them. In trying to solve problems through the auspices of people one becomes a leader.
A leader is not born; leadership is learned in work situations, in solving problems through people.

Achievements that go beyond the ordinary are often driven by magnificent obsession, a preoccupation with a subject that one’s mind won’t let go. When a person is in the grip of a magnificent obsession he either achieves something great or he wastes his time.
Sigmund Freud, the founder of psychoanalysis diagnosed his self as having obsessive compulsive personality disorder; his mind wanted to understand why human beings did what they did. That was a magnificent obsession that led to the formation of a new discipline.
Emil Kraepline began psychiatry and Ivan Pavlov and John Watson began Behavioristic Psychology; both also had magnificent obsession to understand human behavior and personality. (See my write up on the great psychologists and other men of ideas.)
If you have not had a magnificent obsession to understand something let us quickly grant that you are a mediocre and move on and not waste our time on you.
Average persons(IQ 85-115) do not contribute to the forward movement of mankind; it is the less than two percent of humanity with superior IQ (IQ over 132) that are responsible for all the new ideas in science and technology and it is those that interest me.
For the purposes of clarity, obsession is not what we call Axis one mental disorders. Axis one mental disorders (those you may know as mental illness) are schizophrenia, manic depression, aka bipolar affective disorder, delusion disorder, and the various organic mental disorders (mental disorders induced by organic diseases).
We call non-organic mental disorders such as schizophrenia functional mental disorders for to date no one has found biological causation for them despite neurosciences gyrations; saying that schizophrenia is caused by excess dopamine neurotransmitter, mania is caused by excess neuropiniphrine neurotransmitter, depression is caused by deficient serotonin neurotransmitter and anxiety is caused by deficient GABA neurotransmitter does not mean that we can prove it. These putative causal factors are hypothetical; no empirical study has actually proved the contention that neurotransmitters cause mental disorders (what is a neurotransmitter?).
However, the medications we employ in treating those disorders (neuroleptics for psychoses, anti-mania medications for mania, and anti-depression medications for depression and anti-anxiety medications for anxiety disorders) appear to reduce the alleged causal neurotransmitters in the brain?
Obsessive- Compulsion disorders are called neurosis. A neurotic is a normal person with anxiety issues (anxiety is another name for fear, fear without what folks call rational cause). For all you know you may be a neurotic (if you are above average in intelligence, say, have IQ of over 120 you are probably neurotic); certainly, most gifted persons (with IQ over 132) are neurotic.
Genius (IQ over 140) is almost always akin to madness (Albert Einstein with his IQ of 160 was seen as mad by those around him.
There are many types of neuroses. Since we are talking about compulsion there are two types, viz:
Obsessive-Compulsive disorder is an anxiety disorder. Here is how it works. A person with obsessive-compulsive disorder is often very clean. If you walk into her house it is spanking clean. She may cover the couch with plastic to avoid dirt on it. When you visit her and leave she goes and cleans where you sat. She takes a wash cloth and disinfectant and cleans the door knob to wipe off whatever germs you may have left on it.
Some persons with compulsion disorder are pack rats. They do not throw away anything. If you go to their houses you would find all sorts of things littered everywhere; newspapers from years ago would be there and they do not want to throw them away. And such a lady may be the local librarian! That is to say that compulsion disorder does not affect the intellect.
The other type of obsessive-compulsive disorder is the personality aspect of it, which I talked about yesterday. The person with obsessive-compulsive personality disorder (OCPD) has a drive to be perfect and ideal; he respects law and order, and admires those with power and has a tendency to have no respect for powerless, that is, ordinary persons; he has a tendency to think obsessively (with thoughts always in his brain, as if a force that he cannot disobey compels him to think about the subjects he is thinking about) and act compulsively (such as check and recheck to make sure that the stove is turned off or the door is locked). Such persons have anxiety issues. Interestingly, they generally have above average intelligence. Most university professors have OCPD or the other neuroses.
By the way, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of the American Psychiatric Association fifth edition, May, 2013, listed hundreds of mental disorders. Thus, just about every human being has a mental disorder; however, most have neuroses not psychoses (what is the difference between neuroses and psychoses?).
The neurotic understands reality but is unhappy with it; he wants to change the world to suit his fantasy of how it ought to be; the psychotic is unable to test reality and lives in his fantasy world.
One of the fools that responded to my mail yesterday vied off talking about addictions which he understood as compulsions. I could spend my time explaining to him the nature of addictions, physiological and psychological, but will not do so for he is not teachable; he is not educable; besides, he is average in intelligence so it is a waste of my time trying to help him; he is going nowhere. Let me just say that he is a sex addict and watches too much Internet porn and should go seek help for his addiction to sex (I recommend that he read the book, “Out of the shadows”, a classic we use in treating sex addicts).
How do I know that he has addiction to sex? Well, there are tell-tale signs and he showed them in his infantile write up.
The idiot living in Germany with penchant for calling folks schizophrenic ought to take the time to read up on schizophrenia and know what it means before he labels people. Apparently, in his infantile mind he construed schizophrenia as so awful that he felt that calling someone schizophrenic is the worst adjective that he could attach to that person.
The Schizophrenic hears voice (auditory hallucinations), and if there is an organic component to it he also sees things (visual hallucination) that are not there, and is deluded (believes what is not true as true). Less than one percent of the human population has schizophrenia, so it is actually rare.
There are many types of schizophrenia: disorganized, paranoid, undifferentiated, catatonic, residual etc. I will not explain these except to say that the mad man you see dirty and eating from garbage cans is most likely the disorganized type; the paranoid type is most likely to have bizarre delusions, such as claim to be God or Jesus or Napoleon, or is being persecuted by those who do not even know that he exists!
A schizophrenic is likely unable to have the mental presence needed to read more than a few paragraphs in a newspaper and certainly cannot participate at the various naija forums.
The fools that call folks psychiatric names just to put them down ought to first do some research and know what the names they call people mean.
Obviously, folks may have personality disorders and be at naija politics; indeed, most politicians in Nigeria have personality disorders, especially anti-social personality disorder, aka sociopath and psychopath. Emeka Ojukwu had narcissistic personality disorder (Google narcissism and understand what it means and see if it does not fit the proud clown).
In conclusion, I hope that I have helped you to understand the nature of obsessions; and if I have not it is not my fault that you are born dense; blame your creator (if you believe in God) or your genes (if you believe in scientific materialism and see thinking, behavior and personality as epiphenomenal) for making you the daft person you are, not me!

This essay points out that white Americans fear of alienating Muslims lest Muslims attack and kill them shows that they are a fearful and cowardly people and that their historic evil towards black folks is explained by their fearful and cowardly nature; it says that courageous persons love and serve social interest rather than abuse their fellow human beings.
Arabs And White Men Are Cowards!
Ozodi Osuji
Like many oppressed black folks I was motivated to understand the white man. I read the literature on why he did what he did, such as enslave Africans and discriminate against black folks in America. I read the grand theories propounded by social scientists. However, given my lack of respect for idle Ivory tower theorists (I only respect doers not mere talkers; professors run when you fire a gun into their midst, they go seek cover and protect their lives; I am only interested in the person you fire a gun at and he lunges at you and tries to kill you before he dies), well, given my disrespect for mere talkers I decided to understand the white man by myself.
For many years I could not quite understand him. However, the rise of Islamic terrorism and how white America responded to it finally enabled me to understand the white man.
On September 11, 2001, Arab Muslim terrorists attacked the World Trade Center in New York City and killed thousands of Americans. America quickly went to war in Afghanistan to get at the root of Al Qaida terrorists. That was good.
I supported that war. In my view, if you are attacked you should defend yourself and since the best defense is offense, you should go after Muslim terrorists and cut off their heads. I cheered as American troops landed in Afghanistan. As an American citizen, I actually entertained the thought of enlisting in the US army to go fight the Muslim terrorists.
In the ensuing war on terror, Americans captured some Muslim terrorists. Now, instead of bringing them to America’s soil and trying them in America, finding them guilty, as they should be found and executing them they kept them on foreign soil, such as at Guantanamo, Cuba. Indeed, the policy of rendition kept some of those terrorists in other countries where they could be properly interrogated and, if needs be, tortured to extract actionable intelligence from them about terrorists organizations and activities. I see nothing wrong with torturing terrorists to extract information from them. In my book, if you want to kill people you should be willing to be killed and that is all there is to it.
I support the death penalty. There is no use keeping criminals alive, feeding them with tax payers’ money. Take garbage to the garbage dump.
I call me a political realist who leans towards conservatism (yet to aspects of liberalism since I believe that the government ought to provide all people with publicly paid education at all levels and health insurance).
American Liberals cried out against Guantanamo and wanted it closed. In 2008, Barack Obama was elected President and his first act as the President in January, 2009 was signing an executive order closing Guantanamo prison camp.
President Obama had hoped to ship the prisoners to some unused federal prisons in mainland United States. But the states where the unused prisons were located instead of clamoring for them to be used given the millions of dollars such usage would pump into their local economy opposed that proposed public policy.
Apparently, their opposition was rooted in fear that housing terrorist Muslims in their states would make them targets of worldwide Muslim terrorists’ attacks. They did not want Muslim terrorists to attack them.
In the state where Muslim terrorists attacked and killed people, New York, the people and their government actually resisted trying some of the terrorists brought to New York in New York City courts. They did not want to have these murderers tried in courts in their city because they feared that Muslim terrorists all over the world would target New York City for attacks some more.
In Congress many of the Republican congressmen known to talk tough on fighting terrorism suddenly opposed President Barack Obama’s decision to resettle Guantanamo prisoners in mainland USA; apparently, they, too, did not want Muslim terrorists to bomb mainland America. These Congressmen were mere “Talk warriors” but not brave warriors willing to see fighting and dying in their country!
American newspapers quickly learned that if they said something negative about Muslims that their offices and personnel could be targeted by Muslims. Reporters who write the truth about Muslims are often killed.
In the Netherland, Europe some newspaper cartoonist made fun of Mohammed and his throat was cut by crazed Muslims; additionally, Muslims worldwide went on rampage demonstrating and destroying Western properties.
Muslim Mullahs placed fatwa on the head of those who said bad things about their prophet (such as Salmon Rashid) and urged any Muslim who can to kill them; killing the desecrators of the self-proclaimed seal of the prophets is considered enough reason for one to be rewarded with paradise and seventy two virgins (hopefully, these folks die from having too much sex).
Muslims all over the world attempt to kill whoever said bad things about their leader and religion. Aware of this reality the American media self-censored; they would not write anything negative about Muslim terrorists.
It got to the point that the American media is even afraid to call Muslim terrorists, terrorists. They took to calling Islam the religion of peace even as Muslims are known for killing those who they do not like and have always used violence to convert people to their religion and used force to prevent converts from leaving Islam.
And while the American media was kowtowing to Muslims out of fear of harm and death they easily made fun of Christianity. Hardly a day goes by that some white writer does not call Jesus Christ a fag. Making fun of Christians, apparently, is how weak feeling white Americans derive vicarious sense of power. But should they extend their fun making to the last Prophet, Mohammad they know that their little heads would be cut off by crazed Muslims.
In effect, fear of Muslims killing them led white Americans to accommodate Muslim terrorists’ brutality.
As we talk, Muslims are killing Christians in the Middle East and white American so-called Christians keep quiet about it lest their churches are fire-bombed and their ministers’ throats slashed by Muslim throat cutters.
Arab Muslims are steeped knee deep in slavery; one doubts that they can get out of it. As we talk Arabs are still raiding Southern Sudan, killing the men and capturing black women and using them as their sex slaves; in Mauritania and other parts of Sahel Africa where Arabs dominate Muslim Arabs still have African slaves!
If you recall, during the Viking dawn in the ninth century Vikings (from Norway, Sweden and Denmark) raided villages all over Europe, killed the men, captured young women and sailed away with them to Arab lands and sold them to Arabs.
Vikings particularly devastated Eastern Europe where they literally raided towns and captured the women and sold them to Arabs (and that is why we now call Eastern Europeans Slavs, slaves).
Apparently, Arab sheiks (chiefs) like variety in their sex; they stocked their harems with women of all colors: blond, black, Indian etc. As we talk, they are busy importing poor Eastern European, Slavic women as their sex slaves! They go to India and literally buy ten year old girls as their sex pets.
Observing what is going on in America, I said to myself: so, this is the great white race, the race that made so much noise about its powers and superiority to black folks. So, just because Muslims are willing and ready to kill them should they say negative things about their religion the supposed masters of the universe chicken out? What does that make them?
It makes them people who are afraid of harm and death. What are people who are afraid of harm and death and out of such fear go along with those who threaten to harm or kill them, cowards!
So, white men are cowards? Muslim Arabs are also cowards; those who kill perfect strangers in the name of their god are cowards.
When this reality sank into my psyche I finally understood why the white race has done tremendous evil to African people.
Evil is done by fearful human beings, evil is engaged in by cowards.
Courageous persons do not engage in evil. Courageous persons look at suffering humanity and ask: how can we help, and do their best to help those in need of help; this is the teaching of Jesus Christ (who, along with Buddha, is my hero).
Clearly, at the point when Africans and white men came into sustained contact with each other in the mid-1400s Europeans were more scientifically and technologically advanced than Africans.
Europeans used their better technology to enslave Africans, bring them to the Americas and used their slave labor for free to develop the Americas.
If Europeans were courageous people they would not have engaged in the great evil called slavery; they would have paid Africans for their labor and still used them to develop America; they would have treated Africans as fellow human beings.
Europeans engaged in the evil of slavery and currently in the evil of racism because they are a fearful and cowardly people. I finally got it!
Arabs enslaved Africans. Historical evidence shows that Arabs had been enslaving Africans even before the time of Mohammad. Indeed, the Portuguese probably learned about how to enslave Africans from Arabs.
The Portuguese rounded the Cape of Good Hope in 1488 AD and finally got to India around 1494; along the way to India they saw Arabs using Africans as slaves in their various Indian islands Plantations. Thus, when they got to Brazil in 1500 AD and tried using local Indians as free labor and those either died or ran into the forests, they came to West Africa to buy African slaves (leaving East Africa to Arabs to devastate capturing African slaves).
It should be noted that initially when the Portuguese came to West Africa in the 1460s they did not see Africans as slaves; they began that depraved trade only when they had seen Arabs doing it in the Indian Ocean.
Evil men are cowards; good men are courageous people.
A fearful, evil white race, Arabs included will be easily defeated by determined folks who do not flinch from shooting and killing folks.
I do not flinch from aiming a rifle, shooting and killing bad people. I am like Nietzsche; I do not forgive evil persons. I either try to change evil persons or don’t mind killing them.
If you forgive murderers, thieves and rapists you allow them to run around in society committing more crimes. There is not an iota of evidence that forgiveness changes people; Jesus forgave evil people but two thousand years after they murdered him evil people are still murdering people.
To forgive evil people is to give them permission to keep on doing their evils, so we must change evil persons or put them in jails or kill them.
The lesson I drew from the observation that white men are fearful and cowardly and that their brutality towards black folks is rooted in their cowardice is that the rule of the white man is numbered.
White society, Arabia, Europe and America is based on fear and cowardice; such a society cannot last forever; only a society based on courage and love for people lasts forever and ever.
The white man is not going to rule Africans by the end of the twenty first century. By the twenty second century Africans would have produced sufficient middle class with scientific and technological knowledge to stand up to the cowards from Arabia and Europe.
In a few centuries when the playing field in science and technology is finally equalized between Africans and Europeans, since white men are fearful and cowardly a few million fearless and courageous Africans would be able to take over Arabia, Europe and the Americas.
Arab Muslims are brutes. Africans must eventually deal with them for they began enslaving Africans before the white man did. Africans must either wipe off Arabs from North Africa and reclaim the land that Arabs took from Africans in the seventh century of our common era or convert Arabs to Africans love based world view and let them live.
Arab Muslims are enslavers; their primary goal is to convert the world to their religion and through it rule the world; they do not have what it takes, love, science and technology, to rule the current world.
And how do African Americans fit into this picture? African Americans have internalized white men’s self-serving ideology that white folk are superior people and black folk are inferior people. They, therefore, devote their lives to trying to be like white folks, those that they imagine are superior folk.
Black Americans so hate themselves that they find it easy to kill their fellow black folks; this is because they see black folks as worthless folk, as their white slave masters told them to see black folks as.
Therefore, until African Americans are helped to love their selves they are not going to be useful to Africans as Africans seek to get even with Arabs and Europeans.
Africans need men who do not hate their selves to fight the cowards of Arabia and Europe; only those who love themselves can fight for their freedom.
DISCUSSION
Astute observation of white folks show that they tend to do well in groups; they act like packs of wolves; in groups they are strong and do evil but when you deal with them one-on-one they are not courageous at all. As lone persons they are filled with fear and you could intimidate them but as members of groups they can fight fiercely (in militaries). Therefore, they are not to be underestimated.
Arabs find it difficult to act in groups; they tend to do well as lone cut throats. American and European militaries will defeat Arab militaries any day for they do well in packs, militaries.
Americans will win the war on terror; this is especially so since the Arab Muslim civilization is based on seventh century world view and lacks in science and technology; primitive Arabs cannot defeat science and technology based Westerners.
CONCLUSION
White folks fearful reaction to Muslims finally enabled me, and by generalization black folks, to understand that they are a fearful and cowardly people, and that their historic evil behaviors towards black people were rooted in their fearfulness and cowardice.
Fearless and courageous persons tend to love and help their fellow human beings, not enslave or discriminate against them.
The future world belongs to those who love their fellow human beings and work for the good of society, not just for this or that race or for individuals, but for all people black and white.

Terrorism relies on fear to get people to do the things that the terrorist wants done. Healthy approaches to people lie in striving to free them from fear rather than increase and or manipulate their fears. To the extent that people are freed from the fear that holds them down they live up to their potential. Those who keep people in fear prevent people from living fully hence retard human civilization and therefore ought to be removed from human society. We must get rid of terrorists, religious or other types.
Islamic Terrorism Is Not The Answer To Human Problems
My Dictionary defines terrorism as acts designed to intimidate people, arouse intense fear of harm and death in them so that out of desire to live and not killed by the terrorist they embrace the public policy choice the terrorist espouses.
Why is terrorism prevalent in human society? It is because human beings live in bodies and bodies are vulnerable; bodies are prone to harm and death. Those who live in body and desire to live and knowing that their bodies could be destroyed are afraid of harm and death; they do things to avoid harm and death.
Terrorists are aware that people want to live and fear harm and death; they deliberately and randomly kill some people and inflict maximum harm on many people and hope to induce optimal fear of harm and death in the rest of the population. Terrorists’ hope that out of fear of what the terrorists could do to them people would embrace the terrorists’ public policy choice.
Terrorists, in effect, want to use fear and intimidation to get people to accept their views on how to organize society. Their philosophy is: do as we ask you to do or else we kill you.
Terrorists use fear to control people. They do not use reason to persuade people into accepting their public police option.
For example, in the long run, Arab Muslims want to get the entire world to embrace their religion and in the short run they want the West to sacrifice the nation of Israel, give the land to Arabs. Arab Muslim terrorists thus embark on killing Westerners with the hope of generating such fear in them that they would embrace Islam and give Palestine to Arabs.
Terrorists additionally want to create chaos and anarchy; they want to create breakdown of law and order in society, create so much havoc that nothing works and then hope to ride in and take over society and impose their ideas of what society ought to look like. In the case of Muslim terrorists, their hope is to transform society to seventh century Arabia (Mohammed’s era).
Terrorists want to disrupt the economy so that the economic system breaks down as people cower in their hiding places and not go to work. An example of where this has happened is in Northeastern Nigeria (around Maiduguri). Here, a Muslim terrorist group called Boko Haram (who eschew Western education and want to live in preliterate seventh century Arabia like environment) has brought most economic activity in the region to a standstill; people are afraid to leave their homes or gather in work places lest the terrorists bomb and kill them. The result is that the Muslims who live in that region of Nigeria no longer go to work; their children no longer go to school. Muslims are the ones suffering in Maiduguri.
The Southern Christian part of Nigeria is largely untouched by Islamic terrorism and progresses. In effect, Muslims are their own worst enemies; they are setting their people backwards, as the Taliban terrorists set Afghanistan backwards, so back that the people now live in the Stone Age! Other people build rockets to transport them into space to explore space and Afghanis consider riding donkeys’ progress in transportation!
Terrorists who kill persons they do not know, children included are maximally evil persons; they are wicked beyond belief. Individual terrorists generally have anti-social personality disorder and have no sense of guilt or remorse from their criminal activities; they rationalize their criminal acts with the notion of religion; their evil God tells them that it is okay to kill some of his children so as to make the rest of them live in fear of death (the real God wants people to live fear free existence).
On April 15, 2013 two Chechen Muslims in America set off bombs at the finishing lines of the Boston Marathon. That explosion killed strangers; children included, and hurt almost two hundred persons. The Muslim terrorists wrecked maximum havoc on the people and city of Boston: for a week the chaos they created literally brought the economy of Boston to standstill; perhaps over a billion dollars was lost businesses.
Islamic terrorists do this sort of thing all the time; therefore, it is rational to consider Islam a terrorist organization.
The current canard is that Islam is a religion of peace. Really? When did Islam become a religion of peace? Let us quickly review its history and see the trail of violence that has always characterized Islam.
Mohammad, the founder of Islam, was born in Mecca (in today’s Saudi Arabia) in 570 AD. He worked as a camel driver for a wealthy couple. When the man died his wife, Khadija, at the age of 54 married 25 year old Mohammed.
Mohammad who hitherto was poor is now in money. He had all the time in the world in his hands. He began going into surrounding hills, sitting in a cave to meditate.
In 610 AD the 40 year old Mohammad claimed that the angel Gabriel was talking to him. Since he was illiterate and could not write down what his voices were telling him he got his friend, Abubaker to write it down. The result of that channeling is the Koran, now Muslims Holy book.
Essentially, Mohammed took the Christianity that he was familiar with and massaged it a bit and claimed to be the person that Jesus had promised his followers would come and consolidate his teaching (Christians believe that it is the Holy Spirit but Mohammad claims to be the person). Mohammed called himself the seal of the prophets, the last prophet who is here to consolidate what the Abrahamic prophets had always been talking about.
Mohammed asked people to totally submit to the will of God (Allah) and his prophet, himself. That is, he is to become the unquestioned dictator telling people about God and they had to obey him.
The people of Mecca did not take him seriously; indeed, he was considered a madman, a hallucinating psychotic, claiming that his voices came from God. This assessment of the man was lent credence by his tendency to have indiscriminate sex with many women including with a ten year old, girl called Aisha.
People who have sex with ten year old children are pedophiles and insane so people had reason to see Mohammed as insane and went after him and he ran away.
Mohammed ran from his native Mecca to Medina and while at Medina organized a militia and with it came back to Mecca and fought the people and defeated them and converted them to his Islam with the sword. That is to say that the religion of Islam began in violence and is maintained with violence and continues in violence.
Upon Mohammed’s death his followers used the sword to sweep through what is now called the Middle East and converted the people to Islam. Middle Easterners at the time were mostly Christians.
This point is very crucial for it shows that it was Muslims who initiated war on Christians. Muslims used the sword to convert Christian Syrians, Mesopotamians and Palestinians etc.to Islam.
In 643 AD Muslims used force to conquer Christian Egypt and converted Christian Egyptians to Islam. Thereafter, they used force to conquer what is now called Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco and converted the people to Islam.
In 711 AD Muslims swept into Christian Spain and Portugal and used the sword to conquer the people. They then went up north intent on conquering all of Europe and converting the people to Islam.
The Franks (Germans) under Charles Martel (Charles the Hammer) fought the Muslims and in the famous battle of Poitier in southern France in 733 AD stopped the Muslims from taking over Europe.
Subsequently, Christians fought with Muslims and finally drove them out of Spain in 1492, the year that Christopher Columbus came to America!
Indeed, one of the motivations for Columbus seeking a different route to India was because the Muslims had taken over the land route to India and prevented Indians and Chinese trading with Europeans.
As they were sweeping into Northwestern Europe, Muslims also swept into Asia. They took over Persia (today’s Iran, a former Zoroaster society), India, and got as far as Western China. They swept south and got to as far as Indonesia and converted the people to their religion of war.
The point here is that Islam began in violence and continues in violence; therefore, I do not know where people get off calling it the religion of peace.
Muslims are bent on converting the entire world’s population to Islam and if not deterred would use force today to convert all of Europe and the Americas to Islam.
In Africa Muslims took the Sahel region of West Africa and are currently warring to take over the rain forested religion (in the past mosquitos killed horses in the rain forests and prevented Arabs on horses from sweeping into southern West Africa and converting the people to Islam; to Islam the house of war).
Muslims are today converting a large chunk of East and Central Africans, even South Africans to their religion of violence.
In 1453, Turks who had been converted to Islam by the Arabs overran the Balkans and took over Constantinople, the seat of the Eastern Roman Empire and used force to convert the people to Islam; they converted Christian cathedrals like the Sophia to Islamic mosques.
Naturally, Christians looked with distaste as the Mohammedans ran wild taking over their lands. In the tenth century Pope Urban called for a holy war, crusade, to go get back some of the Christian lands taken over by the Mahomets, especially to take back Palestine, Syria, Jordan and Lebanon (all Hitherto Christian nations).
The Crusades were fought and for a while Christians retrieved some Christian lands in the Middle East but in the end the Mahomets reconquered the place, so that today the Middle East that used to be the cradle of Christianity is Muslim land.
Mohammed died in 632 AD. Some of his followers pledged allegiance to his son and others to his friend Abubaker. The two groups became the two major denominations of Islam, Shia (those who accept his son’s leadership) and Sunni (those who accept his friend’s leadership).
When Muslims are not cutting Christians throats the two warring denominations cut each other’s throats. Islamdom is a house of perpetual war! It fits for that which began in war must live in war!
For our present purposes, the salient point is that Islam has always been a religion of war, not a religion of peace.
We should stop deceiving ourselves and call a spade a spade. Muslims are bent on converting the entire world’s population to Islam and want to do it with force. Terrorism is the current means that Muslims think that they could use to convert the people to their religion of war.
In my judgment, Islam is not a religion; it is a political ideology with which Arabs want to convert the entire world to their world view and rule them. Islam asks its followers to pray facing Mecca and to pray in Arabic. This means that they want their followers to accept Mecca as their headquarters and accept Mecca people to rule them; that is, accept Arabs and their culture to dominate them.
(Christians accept Italian popes to rule Christianity; Rome the capital of Italy is the headquarters of Christianity.)
Let me reiterate, in my view, Islam is a political ideology on a mission to have Arabs rule the world and the sooner folks understood this fact the better for all of us; let us stop treating Islam with kid gloves, it is not a religion, it is Arabs means for conquering and ruling the world.
The propaganda that Islam is a religion of peace which naive Westerners are sold is currently allowing Westerners to permit Muslims to come and settle in the West. As we speak, there are Muslim communities in practically every American and European city. When Muslims become a substantial part of Western societies they would try to convert the rest of the people to their religion.
What Islam could not accomplish with force, convert Westerners to Islam, it is now trying to accomplish through seeming peaceful settling in Western societies.
Muslims would impose the Koran, Hadith and Sharia on Westerners; and, worse, they would force Western women into their harems (so that they satisfy their desire for each man to have seventy two women available to him for sex at all times; Muslims relegate women to living in walled off back yards and prevent them from going out into the world; some of those female sex objects are as young as ten years old...Arabs go to India and literally buy ten year old girls as their sex slaves).
Arab Muslims are intent on taking over the world and gullible Westerners are currently making it easier for them to do so by using the idea of freedom of religion protected by their constitutions to allow them to build their Mosques in the West. Westerners allow the Muslims in their midst to read their Korans but in Saudi Arabia if you are seen with a Bible you would be arrested, flogged and jailed.
Muslims do not want to have Christians in their lands but come to Christian lands and naïve Islam sympathizers like President Barack Obama (that man seems a closet Muslim?) allow them to build their Mosques where their terrorists had destroyed the World Trade Center in New York City (it takes brazen guts for these monsters to even contemplate building their house of worship to the devil they call their god in a place they had just killed thousands of Americans!).
We ought to reevaluate our immigration policy and stop allowing Muslim immigrants into the West. The West is a Christian civilization and should not risk having Muslims come and take it over. It is about time that we gave up the nonsense of multicultural society and affirmed a scientific and loving culture; Christianity trumps all other religions in teaching love for our fellow human beings.
Since Islam is not a religion but a political ideology, a violent one at that, in my view, Congress ought to legislate that Islam is a political ideology and ban it in America. Until this is done Americans run the risk of being forced into this dreadful religion of violence that calls itself a religion of peace.
Now, let us return to terrorism. Terrorists understand that people want to live at all costs and that if you randomly killed some of them that many of them would allow you to tell them what to do. But is this always true?
Initially, people feel intimidated by violence but after a while something in them rebel and they decide to fight violence with violence and if needs be die fighting rather than be intimidated by those willing to kill them.
After September 11, 2001 Americans decided that they were not going to cower to threat and now no longer allow Arab Muslim terrorists to cow them into accepting their public policy (such as abandoning the only democratic and civilized country in the Middle East, Israel).
At present most political realists like this writer know that the best thing to-do to terrorists is to kill them. Since terrorists use force on people force should be used on them.
The only language criminals understand is force so force must be exercised on them; you do not treat criminals with kid gloves; if you do they take you on a ride; if you forgive murderers they would keep on killing people; punishment is what these sub human beings deserve.
Simply point guns at Muslim terrorists and shoot and kill them. We should not be sentimental with these murderers or allow our Christian idea of forgiving evil doers to dispose us to forgive them. I say just kill them; they are refuse and killing them is pretty much like taking garbage to the garbage dump.
You do not fool around with men intent on killing you or converting you to their primitive so-called religion; you fight back and kill them and do not allow yourself to feel guilty or remorseful from killing the camel humpers. They are a menace to civilization and ought to be gotten rid of from the face of the earth. No other religion at this time is giving humanity as much headache as these murderous savages from Arabia.
Having said this much about Muslim terrorists, one appreciates some of their legitimate grievances, although one wants to address them through civilized means. I am not naive.
Europeans control the world’s economy and have exploited non Europeans. I am a black man and know the fate of black folks in the contemporary world.
Africans were enslaved by Arabs and Europeans; at the moment black folks are discriminated against; they are generally the last hired and first fired from jobs.
Some brain dead white Americans occasionally bemuse us with the claptrap that black folks are less intelligent than white folks. Their goal is to use that rubbish to justify enslaving, oppressing and abusing black folks; their objective is to use the utter rubbish of racial difference to persuade black folks to see themselves as an inferior people and see white folks as superior persons hence allow white folks to rule them. That would not work; actually it elicits its opposite: black folk’s perception of white men as barbarians to be civilized (most Africans that I know of see white folks as uncivilized and want to civilize them!).
I have no illusions about Arabs and white folks. I know that both used terrorism to kill as many people as possible and drove the rest off their lands and took the land over; I know that Arabs and white men used terrorism to enslave black men and had black men work for them for free or else they were killed. The point is that the both Arabs and white men are not innocent.
But despite his violence the white man has done one thing that many of us black folks admire: he has discovered the scientific method. With the scientific method we are now able to understand how the physical universe works. I believe that if science is unimpeded by the end of this millennium we would master the physical universe and certainly control most of the diseases that make a mess of human bodies.
Muslims have not contributed significantly to science and technology. Initially, they borrowed Indians mathematics and Greek rationalism and put those to their advantage but that was a long-ago; they are not part of the modern world of science and technology.
No Muslim country is developed, industrialized and democratic. Thus, Muslim lands do not have what black folks’ desire: science, technology and democracy. Therefore, we are not interested in their worldview and domination of the world.
Despite the white man’s evil past I prefer him to Arab Muslims. This does not mean that I endorse white folk’s evils.
Clearly, the West must become free from racism. Actually, the West has no choice in the matter for if she does not rid itself of racism she would go the way of the Neanderthal.
If you recall, Neanderthals evolved in Africa and subsequently moved into Europe. While in Europe, they lived as brutes.
In the meantime more civilized form of human beings evolved in Africa; those groups moved into Europe about 60,000 years ago. The more civilized African new comers got rid of the Neanderthals and took over Europe.
Today, once again, a more evolved Africans are on the move! These Africans are moving into Europe and the Americas.
If those currently living in Europe and the Americas prefer to live as Neanderthals, brutes, the in-coming Africans would do to them what they did to Neanderthals sixty thousand years ago.
A more civilized people, and Africans are the most civilized human beings on the face of the earth today, always defeat powerful Neanderthals. Despite Neanderthals bigger clubs unarmed Africans took over Europe; despite today’s Western advanced technology simple but loving Africans will inherit Europe.
The preferred situation is for Africans to civilize the other races of mankind and bring them to their level of humanity. With Africans loving nature, Western science and technology and Orientals metaphysics we can move the world to a higher level of civilization.
In sum, Arab Muslim terrorism is not the solution to the problems we face in the extant world. Islamic terrorists are savages because they rule by instilling fear into people; civilized people understanding that fear holds people down do not manipulate that fear to control them, but, instead, seek ways to help them overcome fear and help them to live fully. In Abraham Maslow’s categories, civilized persons help folks to actualize whatever potential each of them has in him or her.
We should not hesitate in chopping off Muslim terrorists’ heads, for they want to return us to seventh century Arabia where folks lived in darkness.
We ought to be living in light; light is metaphor for knowledge of our oneness and our need to love every human being to love our whole self.

Afis, my dear friend, how are you?
You are probably the person I read most when I visit Nigerian Internet forums. Usually, I give myself no more than an hour a day to fool around with Nigerian news. I would go to Nigerian newspapers and read the headline news of the day. That exercise generally takes about thirty minutes. I would then surf the various Nigerian Internet forums for the next thirty minutes and thereafter call it quits. As I surf the Nigerian Internet forums some writers are a must read, such as you, Bolaji Aluko, Dr. Ojo, and some of the Igbo crazies such as Chukwuma and Assigwara (you learn a whole lot from insane people; trust me, I know what I am talking about for I worked with mad folks for over twenty years trying to heal them).
Afis, I find your write ups honest and refreshing; there is no dissembling, no phoniness and shamminess; you say it as you see it; you are my kind of person.
You are a pure Yoruba man and make no apologies for your identity. You are proud of your Yoruba heritage. This is good.
Clearly, you are dissatisfied with the Shithouse called Nigeria. You seem to believe that Nigeria must break up and allow each ethnic group to go govern itself.
I agree with your perception of the problem but not the solution to it. In a book called The Ideal Constitution for Nigeria, and several articles I made it known what my solution to the royal mess that is Nigeria is.
Nigerian tribes were not consulted when the British logged them into one nation state. This is wrong. These tribes are different from each other, some as different as night is from day.
I believe that Nigeria must be consciously reorganized into no more than fifteen states with each tribe a state and the smaller groups lumped together to form states. I identified the following inevitable states: Hausa state, Yoruba state, Igbo state (Igbo land begins at Igwu Ocha, so-called Port Harcourt to Agbo in present Delta state, there is no compromise here, not one inch of Igbo land would be conceded to others; Ikwerre is Igbo and must be in the proposed Alaigbo state; certain things are worth fighting and dying for; I will kill to preserve the territorial integrity of Alaigbo), Edo state, Ijaw state, Uhrobo/Ishikiri state, Efik State, Tivi/Idoma state, Plateau state (to encompass the mini tribes in that region), Bornu state, Nupe state and some other states for a total of fifteen states.
Where many ethnic groups are lumped into one state each ethnic group must become a county and essentially be semi-autonomous within the state.
I see a Nigeria organized as a real federation, with power divided between the center and the periphery. At the central level is a national legislature (which must be unicameral to reduce the cost of operating a government, checks and balances would be offered by the executive and judiciary) elected for five years with five terms limit; a president elected for five years with three terms limit, a supreme court of thirteen members, one of whom is the chief Justice (the Supreme Court is elected by the people...divide the country into thirteen appellate court districts with each having an appeals court and from the appeals court of each district a judge is elected to the federal supreme court to serve one term of no more than twenty five years).
I want the structure described above replicated at the state level; that is, at each state would be a state legislature (serving five years and five terms limit), a state governor (elected to serve five years with three terms limit), a state supreme court elected by the people from county courts.
Each state must be divided into counties. The counties would replicate the structure of the federal and state governments; that is, have a county legislature (council) that serves five years with five terms limit, a county Resident (chief executive officer) elected to serve five years with three terms limit; a county court system with a court in each town/city making up the county, and a county high court at the capital of the county.
Each county is divided into towns/cities with the government described above replicated in each city; that is, there is to be a town/city legislature (a council of thirteen people) elected to serve five years with five terms limit); a city mayor (chief administrative officer) to serve for five years with three terms limit; and a town magistrate court elected to serve twenty-five years.
Each of Nigeria’s ethnic groupies is different from others; therefore, logic dictates that each of them be left to conduct its affairs in accord with its culture and traditions but within the framework and umbrella of the federal system. Each state must be left to conduct its economic affairs and own all resources in its land. There is no compromise here.
However, since money is required to run the federal government, all Nigerians must pay a flat tax of twenty percent of their annual incomes to the federal government; businesses are also to pay a flat tax of twenty percent to the federal government (the states are to decide whether they want individual income taxes or not; obviously, those states with loads of natural resources, such as the anticipated Ijaw state may have enough income from oil revenue to run its government that it does not need to levy income taxes on its people, for as long as they obtain oil from the ground, anyway).
States are allowed to levy sales taxes (of no more than 10%), property taxes (of no more than ten Naira per one thousand naira of the annually appraised value of people’s properties, houses) and other forms of revenue such as corporate taxes, value added taxes etc.
The federal government is to conduct the nation’s foreign affairs and control its military. Each state is to have its police force; the federal government, of course, would also have its police, including secret police.
The federal government is to posit national standards and measure each states performance with them. For example, each year a national board of standards using actual statistics tells us which state performed best in economics, education 9all Nigerians must be provided with publicly paid education from Kindergarten to university...university being for above average students, those with, at least, B scores in the secondary school living examination), health care (all Nigerians must be provided with health insurance), and other areas of national activity. The idea is for each state to compete with other states for the development of its area.
I believe that with this type of structure and laws passed to send any person who engages in corruption to no less than twenty five years in prison (the prisoners are to be used to irrigate the Sahara Desert, sort of like what Joseph Stalin did in using political dissidents to develop god-forbidden cold Siberia), Nigeria would take off economically and politically. With this type of structure in a generation (which I understand is thirty three years) Nigeria will bulldoze itself into the twenty first century, and become as developed as the Asian tigers.
Afis, the point is that I agree with you that the present structure of Nigeria is a hindrance to national development and that each ethnic group must be given the opportunity to be its self and develop according to its culture. If this system is adapted there is no doubt that Yourbas and Igbos would become the most developed segment of Africa.
Given Yoruba drive for education and sentiment to develop its people and Igbos drive for the individual’s success those two tribes would be counted among the most developed people in the world in a few decades.
Afis, I agree with you that we must do something to restructure Nigeria. Nigeria’s present structure is killing us and simply cannot be allowed to persist.
If Hausas (or, as you call them, Hausawa) like a few Alhajis go have all the money in their area and have the rest of their people beggars (Almajiris) so that the rich Alhajis and Alhajas may have the opportunity to fulfill their Muslim obligation to give arms to the poor that is their business (in Saudi Arabia a few own the wealth from the oil wealth of the country while the rest of the people are poor).
Muslims are welcome to return to living in the seventh century world when Mohammad heard his voices telling him to found a new religion, Islam. If these people do not like Western education (as symbolized by Boko Haram) that is their choice!
My own choice is to have Alaigbo on per with Britain, Germany, France, the USA and Japan, (if you like, add the fast developing countries of Brazil, Russia, India and China, the so-called BRIC). I look forward and do not look back to a nostalgic ideal past.
I am democratic and if Muslims want to live in a pre-scientific world that is their right but they must leave those of us who want to live in a scientific milieu to do so. If they try to interfere with our development I would not hesitate for a second in sending them to their maker so that they go have sex with their allotted seventy-two virgins and die from over sexing; there is a limit to how far we are willing to go in tolerating these peoples foolishness under the guise of religion.
See, not one Muslim country in the world is industrialized or live in a scientific culture; these people are backward and ignorant and, apparently, want to stay so, and so be it for them. They are free to choose to live in a Taliban run Afghanistan like milieu.
I want to live in a world where we have the likes of Nicolas Copernicus, Galileo, Kepler, Eugene Huygens, Tyco Brahe, Isaac Newton, Harvey, Boyle, Dalton, Lousac, Lavoisier, Laplace, Mendel, Thomas Young, Michael Faraday, Charles Darwin, Pasteur, James Clerk Maxwell, Ludwig Boltzmann, J. J. Thomson, Becquerel, Roentgen, Pierre and Marie Curie, Max Planck, Albert Einstein, Ernest Rutherford, Neils Bohr, Louis Broglie, Werner Heisenberg, Erin Schrodinger, Paul Dirac, Pauli, Max Born, Eddington, Alexander Friedman, George Lemaitre, Edwin Hubble, James Chadwick, Enrico Fermi, Robert Oppenheimer, George Gamow, Fred Hoyle, Alexander Fleming, Francis Crick, James Watson, Hugh Everett, John Bell, John Wheeler, De Witt, Winger, Murray Gell-Mann, Alan Aspect, Alan Goth and some of the other giants of the sciences.
Afis, I am saying that your goal and my goal are in sync. Where we pathways is your apparent hatred of my people, Igbos. Afis, try to understand your people’s culture. Yorubas are not haters of people.
I was born at Lagos and spoke Yoruba as my first language and dare say that I understand a thing or two about Yorubas. Yorubas are a civilized people.
I know from personal experience that Yorubas will sacrifice their lives for Individual Igbos survival. This is not a theoretical conjecture, for during the era when Hausas were hunting down and killing Igbos Yoruba men and women hid many Igbos and thus made their survival possible.
Afis, the point is that you come from a group that is known for its civilization and humanity. The Yorubas are not haters of other persons. Yorubas cannot sharpen their machetes and go on crazed rampage killing every Igbo person in sight, as Hausas do.
We all know that at any moment Hausas can go on a killing spree; it does not really matter who they kill. It could be Igbos or Yorubas. Those people, apparently, do not value human life. They see people as mosquitoes and do not hesitate in swatting them to death.
Worse, they do not feel guilty or remorseful after killing people. This is the definition of antisocial personality disordered persons, sociopaths, psychopaths and criminals. Afis, you and I know Hausas and you are no hate driven Hausa man. Afis, you and I do not admire those people’s tendency to savagery. We do not want to be like them.
Since they insist on being savages, all that the rest of us can do is leave them to their chosen primitive ways.
Afis, if you have followed my paper trail on Nigerian Internet forums, you would have noticed that I have carefully delineated what is wrong with Igbos.
I did not bother talking about their positive aspects which we all know is very considerable; I did not talk about their industry and achievement orientation; very few groups worldwide work as hard as Igbos.
I chose to only write about the trouble with Igbos, other persons have written about what is good with Igbos. I did what I did because I am not one of those persons who like the ostrich hide their heads in sand and overlook their people’s negative aspects.
I talked about Igbos self-centeredness, their drive for individual success often at the expense of social good, their tendency to be pragmatic, unprincipled and opportunistic; many Igbos would engage in amoral behaviors if doing so would give them wealth. In fact, many Igbos would sell their mothers and siblings down the river if they would make money from doing so.
I talked about Igbo arrogance; especially their misguided sense of superiority to other Nigerians and concomitant tendency to look down on Nigerians (I actually called them deluded, for it is delusional disorder, a psychosis, to believe in what is not true as true; it is not true that one person or group is superior to others; we are all equal).
I raved and ranted against Igbos tendency to insult Hausas left and right and suggested that such denigration of Hausas injure Hausas pride and that out of injured pride, in narcissistic rage Hausas attack Igbos.
Of course, many factors, including religious, political and economic play roles in Hausas killing Igbos; I am a social scientist for crying out loud and ought to understand that many factors cause social issues. But to make my point poignant I had to tell Igbos that their tendency to degrading Hausas was the sole cause of Hausas killing them (I employed the literary device of hyperbole to make a point that needed to be made).
What I said about Igbos is known to many Igbos. They do not actually disagree with me; they just resented my washing our dirty linen in public, bringing the skeletons in our closet to the open. They would rather keep quiet about our intragroup issues and focus on our inter-groups issues. They especially harp on what other Nigerians did to harm them without talking about their own contribution to that situation; they like to present other people as victimizers and themselves as innocent victims; well, in reality it takes two to tango, we all play roles in making the beds we lay on.
That they validate my perception of them is exhibited by the fact that many of them do not trust each other. Igbos do not trust Igbos when money is involved. When Igbos see the sign of money many of them can sell their people. This is sad but it is who they are; money is their idol, the craven golden cow they made to replace God (Love).
Many Igbos relate to other Igbos from a careful distance; they do not want to be duped by amoral Igbos.
The point, Afis, is that some of the things you say is wrong with Igbos are seen by us Igbos. I doubt that you, a Yoruba can say much more negative things about Igbos than I, an Igbo have said.
Afis, I am Igbo. In fact, I am the best of the Igbo. My kindred are the Opara, the first born of the land; we are the Umuamadioha, the children of Amadioha and the people’s priests. In traditional Igbo society most of the Igbos you see on these forums making noise about their Igboness and abusing me for supposedly being anti-Igbo would be working for my kindred (as osus and ohus). The point is that I am the best of the Igbos yet I took it upon myself to criticize Igbos.
I saw what is wrong with Igbos and went to the hilltop and shouted about it. Small minded Igbos tried to silence me but they were, to me, like mice and could not have effect on me. A mouse may shake its weak hands at the mighty Sun but the Sun will not change and not be the Sun.
Igbos cannot sway me with appeal to nonsense or by verbally abusing my person; they may call me whatever name they want the fact is that most of them are not in my rank; traditional status apart, in the extant world very few of them have attained my attainments; I am second to none.
I listen to the voice of truth not social expedience. The day I stop saying the truth as I see it (which may not be the truth after all none of us knows what the truth is) is the day I die.
I was born to articulate the truth; folks will have to take it or leave it; no human being born of woman can get me to live the lie I see the mass of humanity living.
Now, here is my problem with you, Ogbeni (or is it Alagba) Afis. What you have observed about Igbos behaviors, with slight exaggeration here and there, is, by and large, true, I do not quarrel with that truth; what I have issue with is your tendency to add hatred to the mix.
We must all put on our truth hats and say it wherever it needs to be said but we must never hate those whose odious behaviors we are decrying.
Afis, let me remind you that it is not in the nature of Yoruba to hate other people. Afis, Igbos and Yoruba’s are the same people. Go study our history and you will find out that Yorubas, Edos and Igbos are the same people; they probably diverged from each other no more than a few thousand years ago.
Afis, you (Yioruba) and I (Igbo) are the same. To hate Igbos is to hate you, take that truth from me and bank it. Human perennial wisdom teaches that as we do to others we do to ourselves; that what we give to others is what we receive from them, for others are part of our whole self.
If we love other people we love ourselves; if we hate other people we hate ourselves. Giving is receiving. This is the perennial philosophy of mankind.
As our elder brother, Jesus said, a house divided does not stand. Yorubas cannot hate Igbos and succeed. What Yorubas can do is work with Igbos of goodwill to correct the negative aspects of Igbos behaviors. It is in helping us to correct our negative behaviors that we become a better people and enrich all Nigerians.
My dear Afis, I am trying to tell you to keep up your effort working for the state of Odua, Oduduwa or Yoruba land. That is a welcome effort and I encourage you to do so. I want each Nigerian ethnic group to rule itself.
Our elders like Azikiwe and Awolowo did not fight to replace white colonialism with black colonialism. We do not want perpetual Hausa domination of Nigeria. See, they have ruled Nigeria for fifty years and have nothing to show for it! There are probably more poor Hausas than poor Igbos!
DISCUSSION
The English used military force to conquer the Island that the Romans called Britannia. They used force to bring the Irish, Welch and Scottish into their area of domination. This happened over four hundred years ago. Despite that length of time the Welch and the Scottish are at the moment struggling to separate from English rule.
(For the records, I am opposed to the Scottish declaring independence after the upcoming referendum when they vote to remain in Britain or separate from it; if they vote for secession I want David Cameron, the British Prime Minister to use force to keep them in Britain; what they are allowed to do is become a state as in the united states; with England a state , Wells a state and Northern Irland a state and work for a federal government of Britain; I am not a supporter of balkanization of any country.)
The point is that there is something in each ethnic group that wants to affirm itself. Let us then learn from the mistake of the English and restructure Nigeria and have each ethnic group be a state that controls its affairs but that operates in a federation called Nigeria (as I pointed out elsewhere, ultimately, we must have a federation of all Africa, with each African tribe a state in the anticipated African federation of five hundred states).
Afis keep your struggle to make the Yoruba a separate state but do me a favor, will you? Please do not become an unnatural Yoruba by hating Igbos, hating your cousins. You must not hate Igbos just as Igbos must not hate Yorubas; we are one. We must work for our mutual progress as friends but not as enemies.
CONCLUSION
My dear Afis, I just wanted to let you know that whereas ninety percent of what you write on Igbos is acceptable to this proud Igbo man that ten percent of it seems to be hateful of Igbos. I want you to cut that ten percent out and keep affirming the ninety percent truth you have been hammering on.
We must not succumb to the divide, conquer and rule machination of the white man and Arabs and fight among us and in the process weaken us hence permit the Arab- European monsters (and their surrogates in Northern Nigeria) to rule us.
Thank you for thinking about my feedback to you and making necessary changes in the way you present your frank and honest views on the Nigerian ethnic problem. By all means go ahead and criticize Igbos for in doing so you held us appreciate our problems and, hopefully, work to correct them and become a better people.
Sometimes, Igbos behave as you call them, Mumu; but Igbos are not Mumu people. You have to separate a people’s behavior from their essence; yes, in their behaviors Igbo often shoot themselves on the feet and seem like Mumu and Nnyamiri people, such as when they abuse Yoruba hospitality in having them live at Lagos by now claiming to own Lagos.
Claiming to own Lagos and similar stupid statements made by Igbo is Mumu for it could make Yorubas angry and out of anger they attack Igbos. Igbos then would carry their loads on their sorry heads and head on East. They would go suffer, again. And if the senseless killers in our midst, Hausas take a cue from events in the West and start killing Igbos in the North no one would come to Igbos rescue.
The United Nations will probably pass empty resolutions calling on the parties involved in the conflict to exercise restraint but would not intervene, unless the USA wants to, for someone has to pay for UN troops, you know.
As we speak, over 70 000 Syrians have been killed in their current civil war and as long as America stays out of it no one is going stop the killing. Russia may make noise but her economy is not even the size of California’s economy hence she does not have the economic resources to intervene anywhere; it takes America to foot the bills of sending UN forces to anywhere.
As for Nigeria, the thieves of Abuja are too busy robbing the country down to be of any use to those in need of help.
The white man thinks that since no black nation has produced Nobel prize physicists, chemists and biologists or technologists in the mode of Bill Gates, Paul Allen, Steve Jobs, Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, John Rockefeller, Alexander Graham Bell, James Watt and Michael Faraday etc. that they are dummies (Nobel Prize in literature and peace are for dummies). People do not go die for dummies. Thus, the white man would not send his children to go die fighting to save perceived dummy Africans (white racists put it bluntly: the only good niggers are dead ones!).
Perhaps, the United Nations would eventually authorize sending of troops to go to Nigeria. And the troops would be got from African countries. The majority of them would be Muslims. Guess what the Muslims would do to Igbos? They would come and kill them some more and rape their women, and their men, too.
The point is that the black man has no one in the international community getting his back, for he is considered an unintelligent creature. But Igbos living in their Equatorial jungles have the amusing delusion that they are perceived as special and smart and that when push comes to shove the International community will come to rescue them. Apparently, their Biafra experience did not teach them that the world considers them dump niggers and would not come to help them.
Igbos average IQ is the same as the average IQ of other Africans, as low as those of mentally retarded white folks, 70. The average IQ for black Americans is 85, for white Americans is 100, for Jews is 110, for Asians is 115. One needs an IQ of over 132 to be a member of Mensa society, the truly superior minds (less than two percent of the world’s population has IQ over 130; IQ over 140 is genius level).
James Watson, the co-discoverer of the DNA said that the reason why no African country is well governed is because Africans are dummies; that he does not expect dummies to properly manage modern economies.
Become slaves for white folks and Arabs yes but properly rule themselves....that remains to be seen whether Africans can pull it off! Blaming the white man for their problems is one thing but being able to run their economies is another thing. Until an African country makes a break through and runs its country properly Africans can make all the noise they want to the fact is that no one would take them seriously.
If Igbos know these things they would be more careful and not risk provoking being killed by their blood thirsty neighbors by abusing them but like deluded persons they fancy themselves special and keep putting folks down and irritating them thus risking their attacks.
Having said all these, Igbos essence is as good as the essence other human beings; therefore, despite their apparent foolish behaviors we must forgive and love them.
Igbos and Yorubas and all people are the children of God; we are all members of one family, God’s family.
God is love; therefore, his children are love. As brother Jesus told us to do: we must love God (the whole) with all our hearts and love our neighbors (parts of the whole) as we love ourselves. We must love all human beings, and in so doing find salvation (peace and happiness on earth).
As brother Jesus told us to do: we must forgive and correct the behaviors of those who wronged us (I must, however, admit that Igbos are a handful, a pain in the ass, really and even I find it difficult to forgive hence them!).
Love is our nature, so, let us love one another and criticize one another’s shortcomings without hating one another.
Sincerely,
Ozodi Osuji
