The Blessings of Racism

This essay should be read in conjunction with the essay “What Christmas means to me” that I wrote on Christmas day. That essay gives a fuller picture of what it means to be a Christ like person, which this particular essay does not. This essay points out that racism prepares black folks to lead a Christ like, that is, a love based civilization. From their oppression black folks learn that the opposite of oppression, love is what is good for human beings and lead efforts to teach human beings to become a loving people.

Ozodi Osuji

When what we do not like happen to us we often ask: why me; why I of all people should bad things happen to? Good question.

How about asking: why not me? Why should bad things happen to other people and not to me? Where is it written that only good things should happen to one and bad things to other people?

Listen, things that happen to one must happen to one. One becomes an adult when one realizes and accepts that there are no accidents in life, and realizes and accepts that whatever happened to one had to happen to one. The only choice one has is how to react to what happens to one, not whether they are going to happen to one or not.

Each individual and each human group is on a trajectory; what happens to them must happen to them whether they consciously like it or not.

Life is brutal; we must deal with it without sentimentality. For example, when a lion seizes a lamb and eats it for dinner that certainly is not nice for the sheep if its goal is to live. However, looked at from another angle we know that big fish eat small fish to survive. The big fish, in turn, is eaten by other animals, including human beings.

Human beings, the most predatory animals of them all, are eaten by worms. Look at your body. It is beautiful, is it not? Guess what it is? It is food being cooked for bacteria and worms. Yes, other animals will eat your body as you ate other animals’ bodies.  Ecology teaches us that everything survives at the expense of other things. This is the nature of being; crying over it is really being unrealistic.

When black folks experience racism, that is, white folks enslaving them and discriminating against them they feel that it is unfair. They ask why me. Why not them. Somebody got to be enslaved and somebody got to be discriminated against so why not black folks as those to be enslaved and discriminated against? Why should it be other people that are to be enslaved and discriminated against?  Where is it written that only good things should happen to black folks? Somebody got to have a raw deal and it might as well be black folks.

Asking why me does not prevent what is happening to one from happening to one or what is going to happen to one from doing so. The fact is that destiny fated that white folks must enslave and discriminate against black folks. Black folks may cry all they want about it the fact is that white folks had to enslave them and discriminate against them. This is part of the divine plan for black people. “God” decided that black folks had to be enslaved by white folks and discriminated against by white folks.

If you are the atheist type you say: bullshit; God does not exist so this guy is full of it. Suit yourself. But while you are at it, I mean being an atheist and all make sure that you studied the physical sciences, such as physics, chemistry, biology etc. so that at least you understand what materialistic philosophy is all about and can argue on its behalf.

You ask whether it is fair to black people that white folks should literally shit on them. I ask: what is fairness?

Do you know what is fair for you?  You judge what is fair for you from the perspective of your immediate self-interest but that may not be good for you in the long run.

The ego self looks at phenomena from what is good for it but a different force, the Holy Spirit, looks at phenomena from what is good for all ego selves.

It is perfectly fair for white folks to discriminate against black folks.  There is a purpose to it. What is the purpose, you ask?

Black folks are by nature good natured. They generally see all people in religious light and love all people. In that light they initially see white folks as human beings and want to love them.

When a black person is discriminated against by white folks, he is quickly disabused regarding his prior belief about the good nature of human beings. He changes his mind about white folks.  Subsequently, he sees white folks as less than dogs in worth. To him white folks are now sub-human beings.

White folks often think that racism makes them seem superior to black folks; nothing could be further from the truth; racism makes white folks less than mosquitoes. As annoying mosquitos swatting them to death would not make black folks lose sleep.

The pure evil called slavery and discrimination has a historical function for black folks: to liberate them from whatever illusions they had about white folk’s good nature.

Africans who have experienced racism see white folks and their civilization as something they do not desire; racism makes black folks give up their hitherto admiration of white civilization; they learn that white civilization is literally Satanic; yes, the civilization of Europe is Satan’s civilization and discriminated against black folks do not want anything to do with that Satanic world.

Upon exposure to racism, black folks let go of any desire to imitate white civilization or be part of it and instead seek an alternative to it.

Slavery and discrimination is preparing black folks to lead a different human civilization that is not as evil as the white led civilization.

The new civilization that black folks are to lead is a Christ based civilization, a world where folks actually practiced what is in the Christian Bible, loved one another instead of talk love, as European so-called Christians did and enslaved folks.

Christ civilization is a civilization based on love; it is the highest level of human civilization before human beings are translated to a higher form of civilization, to living in light forms and finally return to the formless world of God.

There are no accidents in God’s world; what happens to us must happen to us. Actually, we choose what happens to us.

Black folks chose for white people to treat them as they do so that they come to see them as sub human beings and not listen to them and simply aim at replacing them (actually what is going to happen is a synthesis of black and white cultures to form a new world culture that is not strictly African or European but both, the best aspects of both cultures combined).

Black people chose to experience what they are experiencing and white people chose to do what made them sub human beings so that the world would reject their evil civilization and form a real human civilization, a love based civilization.

We live in the age of science. The age of science is predicated on the philosophy of materialism. That philosophy says that all that exists is matter (energy). In so far that human beings do seem to think, materialism says that thinking is the result of specific configuration of atoms in their brains. Thinking is seen as epiphenomenal, as a throw up of the atomic processes in our brains. There are no little men, spirits in our brains that think through us; our thinking is done through electrons.

Materialism traces the evolution of the universe from the Big Bang to the present. It shows us how the concatenation of events in nature produced us. We are the product of matter and are matter. We are temporary agglomeration of 25 elements in our bodies (we have twenty five of the 92 elements on the periodic table of Chemistry in our bodies but primarily carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen).  Our bodies are made of the various elements and when we die they decompose and continue living in nature.

The elements in your body now at some point were inside stars, other people, animals, trees and elsewhere in nature.  We are part of nature and that is all there is to us.

According to this philosophy, accidental events produced us.  The hot original earth was bombarded by comets. Comets brought water to the earth and cooled it; the earth is now covered by 70% water.

Inside the primordial pond certain elements mixed to produce amino acids, fats and other necessities for biological life forms. Single celled organisms emerged and progressed to multi-celled organisms.

As Charles Darwin stated in his book, the Origin of Species, as things change in the environment animal’s change to adapt to them and those that cannot adapt die out. Selection of the fittest is responsible for our survival.

In 1953 Francis Crick and James Watson showed us that our bodies contain a helix chain that they called DNA. The DNA contains the programming information with which nature produces our bodies (animal’s bodies, trees bodies).  And it is nature that produced that DNA, not some kind of intelligent force.

In the age of science whatever happens to us is explained with the idea of accidents.  This philosophy seems neat and simple.  However, events in Quantum mechanics seem to complicate the matter a bit.

It is absolutely necessary for you to understand quantum mechanics. If you have not taken courses on the subject you can read up on its key actors beginning with J.J. Thompson who discovered the electron in 1897, Max Planck who discovered quanta in 1900, Albert Einstein who discovered photons in 1905, Becquerel, Maria and Pierre Curie who discovered radiation, Ernest Rutherford who discovered the nucleus (proton) in 1911 (James Chadwick discovered the neutron in 1932), Neils Bohr who gave the first primitive picture of how electrons cycled the nucleus of atoms, Broglie who showed that electrons like light have both wave and particle properties, Wolfgang Pauli, Emil Schrodinger, Warner Heisenberg, Paul Dirac, Lisa Meitner, Otto Hahn, Strassman, Murray Gell-Mann, James Wheeler, Richard Feynman, Hugh Everett, John Bell, Alan Aspect  and others. You must study what is now called classical physics (mechanics, heat, electricity, light, sound) and chemistry and biology. If you do not have basic understanding of the physical sciences you can hardly be said to be alive!

Quantum mechanics shows that the observer does affect what he is observing. It seems that the act of measurement affects the outcome of what is measured.  So, does that then mean that we are apart from matter? Materialists say no. We are matter that somehow evolved ways to observe itself.

We are the universe that over the past 14 billion years combined atoms in such a manner that we can think. All we are is a bunch of atoms, Eugene Wigner says. We are not special at all. There is no God that created us.

If God created us how come he allows us to be born in body that would die and smell worse than feces? How come he allows us to suffer pain, age and then die? How come natural disasters like earthquakes, volcanos, hurricanes, tsunamis, floods, tornadoes, plagues, germs destroy our lives?

It does not seem that this world was created by a loving father; only an unloving person could have created people and make them live in body, and value their body when their body is nothing thus made them value nothing.

It takes a great deal of delusion to accept one’s body for what one is accepting is literally nothing. Therefore, forget God and let us talk physics and accidents as the force underlying everything in this world.

We live in a pointless, purposeless and meaningless universe, Steven Weinberg the guy who wrote a book on the first three minutes after the Big Bang tells us.  Atheism seems the proper philosophy of science.

If there is no God how then can I talk about God destining us to experience what we experience? Did I say that there is no God?  You must listen to me very carefully and not misunderstand what I am telling you.

There is God alright but he is not the person who created this world, as old time religions such as Judaism and Christianity teach. God did not create this world, for it he did he is not a loving person and we might as well crucify him, right now, not tomorrow.

God created us, his sons. The sons of God went insane and invented the material universe. It is us who invented this material universe. We must accept responsibility for making this insane asylum called our material universe and stop blaming God for it.

We invented this material universe and assigned tasks to each of us and to groups of us.  Every son of God played a role in the invention of the universe. Each of us did something to bring this universe into being. Each of us is now doing something to understand how the universe works and to improve it.

For our present purposes, we assigned the role of slaves and those to be discriminated against, that is, masochists, to Africans.  We assigned the role of sadists, slave masters and oppressors to white folks. Each person and group plays the role assigned to him; thereafter roles are reversed.

We are about to enter a world where black folks are at the top of human evolution. From having learned about oppression and abuse they invent a world where folks love one another. Black folks are assigned the role of civilizing human beings, bringing them to the gate to heaven before we all end our journey away from heaven and return home to heaven (perfect love).

Human evolution began in Africa and will end in Africa (meaning that Africans would lead mankind to where we came from, God).

Our thinking is done through electrons; electrons are made of light so our thinking is actually done through light. Protons and neutrons the other components of atoms are made from quarks which are made from light. Our bodies are composed of atoms that are composed of electrons, neutrons and protons and since ultimately those were made from light our entire bodies are actually made from light; our bodies are masked light!

Only light exists in the universe; the universe is light; darkness seems to exist where that universal light is covered.

God is light; the ego is darkness; the ego, darkness seems to exist where the light of God is covered but beneath the mask is still light. We always live in the light of God but cover our eyes and see darkness.
